  1. [19:28] Nicholas Philly takes out the recorder from the top desk drawer and begins "alright Mr. Weylyn we're here tonight for your interview for the Position of Patrol Officer with the Cedar Creek Police Department, This interview will be recorded for review by the hiring board should the recommendation to hire be made. Do you agree to have this conversation recorded for that purpose?"
  2.
  3. [19:29] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) glances at the recorder and nods "i agree yes"
  4.
  5. [19:31] Nicholas Philly nods "okay, so getting right to it here, why do you want to work in this industry?"
  6.
  7. [19:34] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) takes a bit of a deep breath "honestly its been something i have always liked to do. as you probably noticed on my application i have been with some other law enforcement organizations in the past and have really came to love it. i also like helping keep community's safe and what best way then joining the the local police department."
  8.
  9. [19:36] Nicholas Philly "alright then, tell me a little about yourself."
  10.
  11. [19:40] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) thinks a bit "well i am twenty eight years old, i live with my boyfriend and just moved into the community last night, i use to be a firefighter for a brief period of time, am currently working on getting my ham radio license, am a bit of a gamer mostly console games but i dabble in some computer gaming as well." takes a breath and smiles a little
  12.
  13. [19:41] Nicholas Philly nods taking down some notes for himself "okay, you say you have been a Police Officer in other communities correct?"
  14.
  15. [19:43] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) nods "that is correct yes"
  16.
  17. [19:44] Nicholas Philly nods "okay so tell me about your past Police Chiefs, be brief but tell me about how you felt they ran their departments, and what you thought about their abilities to lead their teams."
  18.
  19. [19:46] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) thinks back "most hf them have been good chiefs and lead there departments well. there is only one that i wish would have done a better job but thats mostly cause they where not around that much if at all"
  20.
  21. [19:48] Nicholas Philly nods again taking a quick note for himself "are you currently employed with another department, and if so are you leaving to work here?"
  22.
  23. [19:51] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) nods a bit "i do have one sheriff department that i help run but its not all that active and is most likely gonna be closing here really soon. i also have a fire department that i run but its in a rather inactive place. so being able to be rather active and on duty here alot will be no issue at all"
  24.
  25. [19:55] Nicholas Philly nods "Have you ever used medications or drugs that were not prescribed to you by a doctor or used them in a manner in which they were not prescribed, as well as any recreational drugs?"
  26.
  27. [19:56] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) replies "i have not no"
  28.
  29. [19:57] Nicholas Philly "okay, If I were to interview your friends how do you think they would describe you?"
  30.
  31. [20:02] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) thinks a little bit "i am reliable when i say i will be somewhere i will be there. i am a bit blunt at times. and that i am a bit shy but a good person when people get to know me. i may some times come off as a bit of a asshole. thats about all i can think of" he replies as he tries to think of anything else
  32.
  33. [20:05] Nicholas Philly nods taking a few more notes "Okay, so tell me about something in your life that you would consider to be your greatest failure, what you did about it, and how you learned from it."
  34.
  35. [20:12] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) takes a moment to think "there is one time that i can think of. back a while ago i was trusted to be in charge of a group of people and i started doing things that did not follow the rules and what was already in place and when i got in trouble i reacted rather poorly. sense then i have learned that things are in place for a reason and need to be followed if not it can lead to confusion and people feeling as if they are being treated unfairly or not how they should be treated"
  36.
  37. [20:16] Nicholas Philly nods with a smirk on his face he takes some more notes "okay then, next question. Your out on patrol and you decide to stop at the local market, while inside you see a family member put an item they have not paid for into their pocket, what do you do?"
  38.
  39. [20:22] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) replies "i would confront the individual and give them the opportunity to do the right thing and take it out and actually pay for the item if they did not i would then detain them and notify dispatch of the situation and talk to the now suspect to find out why they thought it would be a good idea to try and steal. am a bit of a believer in giving people the opportunity to do the right thing."
  40.
  41. [20:23] Nicholas Philly replies "so this person being a member of your family, having given them the opportunity to make the right decision if they did not you would then treat them as any other perpetrator?"
  42.
  43. [20:24] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) nods "i would yes"
  44.
  45. [20:26] Nicholas Philly shakes his head a bit, "okay, moving on how would you react if you were to find out that a fellow Police Officer was involved with criminal activity, or if you witnessed them in the commission of a crime?"
  46.
  47. [20:29] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) replies "i would ask to speak with my supervisor in private and inform them of that i seen"
  48.
  49. [20:31] Nicholas Philly nods "okay so these next few questions are about your application responses, first question is your response to the question about the most powerful item an Officer has, you answered voice, can you explain that answer?"
  50.
  51. [20:34] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) nods a bit "the reason i put that was the main thing a officer would be trying to do is talk a suspect down or deescalate the situation as well as be the voice of reason during a disagreement between two or more people"
  52.
  53. [20:38] Nicholas Philly shakes his head a bit "okay next thing is your response to the domestic disturbance call scenario, in this situation you were dispatched to a residence as one of two patrol units, you arrived first and observed arguing loud enough you could hear it outside. You called for an ETA on the second unit and then hung back and waited for them. Do you feel this was the best way to handle the situation and why?"
  54.
  55. [20:41] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) nods "i do yes as domestic disturbances are some of the more risky calls a officer can get cause there is no telling what we would be going to. for all we would know is we could get shot at once we knock on the door. so i feel its best to wait for back up in those types of situations"
  56.
  57. [20:46] Nicholas Philly nods "okay three more questions here and then we'll wrap it up, so next up would be the foot pursuit scenario, my question is about a specific part of your response, once the subject aimed either at you or another officer and I assume that also included bystanders, you said you would fire one to three shots to neutralize the threat. Why one to three shots?"
  58.
  59. [20:51] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) nods "yes that would include bystanders as well. the reason i would fire one up to three is cause i am using my firearm to neutralize a threat not to kill. and one to three rounds will typically neutralize that threat" looking down a bit hoping that made sense
  60.
  61. [20:54] Nicholas Philly nods taking some notes "okay next question pertains to the question about A Probable Cause Search, can you explain to me what Probable Cause is?
  62.
  63. [20:57] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) replies "probable cause is reasonable suspicion to perform a search like on a traffic stop and seeing drug related things in the in the car like a crack pipe or baggies with what looks to be drugs in them"
  64.
  65. [20:59] Nicholas Philly nods "okay so that being said if you were to observe those items in a car would you then have Probable Cause to search the vehicle owner and the entire contents of the vehicle?"
  66.
  67. [21:00] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) nods "i believe so yes"
  68.
  69. [21:01] Nicholas Philly nods "okay last question, why should the CCPD hire you?"
  70.
  71. [21:02] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) replies "because i am dependable, loyal, and very active"
  72.
  73. [21:04] Nicholas Philly nods "alright Mr. Weylyn thank you for your time this evening that concludes my questions for you, so unless you have any questions for me I'll let you get on your way."
  74.
  75. [21:05] Roman Weylyn (ChannelStrip) nods a bit "i currently dont have any questions at this moment."
