  1. Unit Writeup:
  2.
  3. Reimu: One of the best dodgetanks in the game, thanks to Shrine Maiden and her already high mobility. On FMW3 she gets a perma -500 damage barrier, and later on a 25% Perfect Dodge and the ability to zero out graze damage. No longer the only unit with Zeal as of FMW4, but she does get Soul in the same game for a 1.8x damage buff.
  4.
  5. Marisa: Competitor for highest DPS in the game. Perfect for nuking bosses. Has Accel™. On FMW3 she gets a passive buff to damage and mobility, plus one of the sole best finishers and combination attacks in the game in terms of raw damage output. 1st half of one of the best teams in FMW3/4. In FMW4 she doesn't get anything particularly amazing, just access to Bravery.
  6.
  7. Mima: Well, she is playable for more than 3 chapters in FMW4 so I'll talk about her in there. She still has her amazing barrier, but lacks PSes. Only having Magic Charge for 10% MP Regen. She would honestly appreciate more utility. At the very least she also has Soul and Continuous Attack, plus a new finisher.
  8.
  9. Elly: Tank with Accel™. Even though her defensive stats kind of suck, she has the ever great Grit to take neglible damage consistently. Also has Valor and Fury for DPS, if she has enough SP. She gets a combination attack with Kurumi come FMW4, which helps her a bit. But she's still sort of mediocre.
  10.
  11. Kurumi: Has Accel™. Surprisingly good with Rumia and during the first part of IN, since she can get a passive +20% to evasion and hit rates in Night terrain. Piddling damage output and stupidly MP intensive, though. Gains a combination attack with Elly come FMW4. Plus there's a few Night stages later on so she can stay relevant. 1 of 2 units with Hope.
  12.
  13. Yuuka: hahahahahaha. 80% Perfect Dodge. Best MAP in the game. Shield Defense, Parry and Counter. A shame for her shit availabilty and lack of Accel tho. Still worth using. [waiting for FMW4 recruitment.]
  14.
  15. Yumeko: Effectively a more offensive Sakuya. Has Grit, Fury and Valor. Plus Devote for emergency MP heals.
  16.
  17. Shinki: The goddess of Makai... Is relegated to a support role. She has no spirits that target herself, and her PSes are relegated to support too. She's the only unit that can regen SP at least. Plus her barrier is decently powerful and is the first playable character to break 10k HP.
  18.
  19. Rumia: Good tank against Laser damage. Otherwise a night terrain bot and support defender. Has Daunt to decrease enemy power at least. Also best finisher in the game. And then the FMW4 upgrades roll in, in which she gets two new combination attacks, one in the early game and another in the late game. The latter having one of the best base damages in the game. 1/5th of Final Bakartet Special
  20.
  21. Dai: One of the best healers in the game. Primarly a support unit. Unless you really want that Twin Fairies combination I guess. FMW4 still keeps her as a support unit, with her heal being able to heal from 2 squares away with Purity L7. However, she's also 1/5th of Final Bakartet Special, so...
  22.
  23. Cirno: One of the best raw damage outputs in the series, actually. She needs Ignore Size (or her PS equivalent) badly, but with that and Valor she can do surprisingly good damage. Too bad she has neither in FMW1 so she's restricted to being a Grit bot. FMW4 changes on of her PSes to give a 1.1 damage boost, and she also gets Bravery. But aside from that she's the same as in FMW3, plus the new combinations, of course.
  24.
  25. Meiling: One of the best if not the best tanks in the game. In FMW3 she gains the invaluable ability to Support Defend in Player Phase, although only 3 times per chapter. Has Grit and Valor. Gets a new finisher in FMW4 and her "Support Defend in Player Phase" PS can be upgraded.
  26.
  27. Koa: Only character that can refill MP post-movement, which is stupidly invaluable. Support unit through and through. She doesn't exactly change in FMW4, aside from Renew now healing ammo too.
  28.
  29. Patchy: One of two dedicated snipers in the game. Has Hit & Away and Fury. And for some reason she doesn't have Valor, instead having... Faith. jfc. Her problems are still there in FMW4! But she gets a new finisher in the mid-game at least so she no longer relies on Koa. Also Hit & Away is a buyable skill now.
  30.
  31. Sakuya: Perfect Dodge that starts at 25% but can increase with PSes up to 50% in FMW3. Stupidly ammo dependant and doesn't have a lot of spare either. Gets an MP-based finisher in FMW3. She gets Continuous Attack in FMW4 but that's the extent of her upgrades.
  32.
  33. Remi: Has Accel™, but otherwise a very bad unit for her cost. I guess if you drafted Rumia... Still bad in FMW4. Accelbot
  34.
  35. Flan: Competitor for highest DPS in the game. Stupidly MP intensive to the point where she's borderline unusable without a Supplier. Has the cheapest Fury in the game, plus Valor. She doesn't get a lot of upgrades if at all in FMW4, sadly.
  36.
  37. Letty: Without counting bugs, she has the most friendship bonuses in the series come FMW3. Can function as either a normal tank or a dodge tank. Gets a new finisher in FMW4 but is otherwise the same.
  38.
  39. Chen: Has a really cheap Accel™, plus a passive that gives her more Move when landed. Has a 25% (or 50%) Perfect Dodge. Has a surprising amount of power behind her attacks. In FMW4 she gets a PS that makes her auto-cast Zeal when she's above 130 Power. Only once per chapter, tho.
  40.
  41. Alice: 2nd half of one of the best teams in FMW3, due to Malice Cannon and Triumph. Also one of the best Support Attackers in the game thanks to not needing to spend a skill slot on Combo Attack. No longer has the title of highest skill in FMW4. But she also gets Love and a new finisher. And a kickass new theme.
  42.
  43. Lily: Slightly more offensive Dai. One of the few units who has a MAP. Still mostly a support un-- NOPE! Not in FMW4. FMW4 gives her an alternate form in Lily Black, during which she gets much more offensive and can actually hold her own, having Fury, Assault and Accel. She gets a new PS for this form that makes all her attacks 1-6 too.
  44.
  45. Prismrivers: Lunasa can decrease enemy Power and has Grit, Merlin can increase Ally power, Lyrica can increase Ally hit rates and evasion. Also they make a decent attack unit when combined. Stupidly cheap MP costs. Lunasa gets Continuous Attack, Merlin gets Rally, Lyrica gets Hope in FMW4.
  46.
  47. Youmu: Can have a 25% Perfect Dodge. Has Accel™. Competitor for highest raw damage output due to her high-damage finishers. Gets Soul in FMW4 and she also gets a PS that increases its multiplier to 2.25x. Which means she has the highest raw buffs in the game.
  48.
  49. Yuyuko: One of the best support defenders in the game solely because she can Perfect Dodge any attack as long as she triggers Support Defend. Can double the effect of restoration items and has the ever invaluable Rally. Still the same, except now between Enable and Soul she can't afford to use her SP on Rally. That's what Merlin's for.
  50.
  51. Ran: Has Accel™. 25% Perfect Dodge, as well as one of the few characters who has a MAP. Moreover she has the ability to increase the effect of the 130+ Power skills by 50%.
  52.
  53. Yukari: Has Accel™... Sort of. Her Dream spirit is invaluable in that it allows her to access every other Spirit in the game at double cost. Which means she has 30SP Accels. She can teleport any unit to her side, including the ship and any units that are within. 1st half of the best LTCing strats. Gets Love in FMW4, and moreover she also moves through gaps, which makes her ignore movement penalties of any kind and enemy placement.
  54.
  55. Suika: Uhm. No. Please. B Air rank, accuracy issues, lack of attacks, S size. If you really must use her, she has Fury and a free MP refill I guess. Her new finisher in FMW4 fixes her a bit but she still has a long way to go. She also gets Wrath.
  56.
  57. Wriggle: Has Accel™. Twice. In her spirit list. Really. She has the usual 15SP Accel and then she has Assault which is Accel + Strike + Valor for 50SP. Also has Fury and a limited-use -2000 damage barrier. Can force other units to trigger Shield Defense. In FMW4, she gets Confuse but has the ability to change it into Soul. 1/5th of Final Bakartet Special.
  58.
  59. Mystia: A very good support unit in her own right. Her songs can buff every main stat and provide AoE heal, and they're affected by her very cheap Valor too. Also has Accel™. Nope, not changed. 1/5th of Final Bakartet Special.
  60.
  61. Keine: A good tank for FMW1, mediocre in FMW2 and FMW3. On FMW3 she gets an upgrade that grants her better attacks but doesn't do much to fix her other problems. She has Trust and Rouse, at least.
  62.
  63. Tewi: Uh... Her Trickster PS can make her a pseudo-dodgetank for 2 attacks I guess? Also she gives more points...? Uh... Seriously, the hell is wrong with Tewi. She doesn't even have Accel. still bad in FMW4, except she now has Provoke. Except she actually has the gall of making it cost 35SP.
  64.
  65. Reisen: Very versatile unit. She can either benefit from Shotgunning on every attack of hers, gain access to Assail, or have Hit & Away and act as a sniper. Lacks a default Accel, sadly. Gets a new PS that gives her +7 stats on each use, and on the fourth use she casts Detonate.
  66.
  67. Eirin: 2nd dedicated sniper in the game. Also has the ability to fully heal HP and MP/Ammo with her Healer and Supplier abilities if the proper PS is equipped. Has Revive in FMW4, hasn't changed otherwise.
  68.
  69. Kaguya: One of the best tanks in the game if only because she has the strongest barrier. Her MP-intensiveness and lack of post-movement attacks hurts her a lot though. Also has Rouse. Gets Enable, unchanged otherwise.
  70.
  71. Mokou: The most untanklike tank. Can resurrect 1 to 4 times per chapter. Has particularly high damage output specially in FMW3, and has access to Valor. Burns through MP like a phoenix. Gets Sacrifice in FMW4 for even more damage.
  72.
  73. Aya: 2nd half of the prime LTCing strat. Has Accel™. More importantly, she can cast Accel on ANYONE two times per chapter. Yukari + Aya can clear chapters in mere single digit turns. Gets a new combination attack with Hatatatatatataatatatatatatate in FMW4.
  74.
  75. Medicine: All her attacks penetrate armor and barriers by default. Her SS size requires her to get Ignore Size, sadly, but she's inmensily useful against the stronger barriers. She also gets Bonds.
  76.
  77. Komachi: Pseudo-sniper, has the ability to attack anyone from the other side of the map 2 times per chapter. Can serve as a backup healer or tank thanks to Trust and Guard. Gets a proper finisher in FMW4.
  78.
  79. Eiki: She can make hit chances for the enemy and herself either 100% or 0%. Aside from that she has Grit and Valor.
  80.
  81. Shizuha: Needs Minoriko to be useful for anything else outside of casting Attune. With Minoriko and the friendship skills, she's a force to be reckoned with. Gets un upgrade to the Aki Sisters Kick in FMW4.x
  82.
  83. Minoriko: Needs Shizuha to be useful for anything else outside of Grit Support Defending. With Shizuha and the friendship skills, she's a force to be reckoned with. Gets an upgrade to the Aki Sisters Kick in FMW4.
  84.
  85. Hina: Has Accel™. Unique in that her power and crit rate increase the further she moves. Can also prevent enemies from triggering percentage-based skills.
  86.
  87. Nitori: She can use items from far away and post-movement, gain a 25% Perfect Dodge, fully heal both units in a team orrrr be a mediocre tank with Guard. Gains an "upgrade" in FMW2. Also she's locked to her underpowered version a few times so beware. Gets a new finisher in FMW4.
  88.
  89. Momiji: Starts with Shield Defense by default. Also has Snipe for some weird reason. She can be a pretty decent tank but lack of Grit and being dependant on Shield Defense activating hurts. Unless you feel like cutting her damage by 1/2. Gets a new attack in FMW4.
  90.
  91. Sanae: Has Accel™ as part of her Miracle spirit. Stupidly MP-intensive and takes quite sometime to get herself going due to her Faith mechanic. Also her finisher is Melee-based. For some fucking reason. MAX GOD is a particularly good PS at least. Gets two alternate forms in FMW4. Kanako form gives her more armor and HP and S Rank Air, and gives her finisher back. Suwako form gives her more mobility, but B rank Air and S Rank Ground/Water.
  92.
  93. Kanako: She has Grit. And an awful lack of post-movement attacks. She can increase her movement by 1 with one of her PSes at least. Good enough support defender at least. Can get Valor too.
  94.
  95. Suwako: Lack of post-movement attacks and doesn't have Assail. Crippled by her S size. She can apply accuracy and evasion debuffs, plus Armor Down at least.
  96.
  97. Iku: Has Accel™. She's also one of two Adapt users to increase terrain ranks for a turn. She can also Support Attack and Defend from up to 3 panels away.
  98.
  99. Tenshi: She can get one of the cheapest Guards in the game at 10SP, and she also has Valor and Bravery later on. Her Sword of Hisou has S Ranks in all terrains which makes it a fairly good filler attack.
  100.
  101. Kisume: Can increase either her Shield Defense activation rate or give herself the highest natural armor in the series. Aside from that, she has a natural Tank kit. Also has Accel™ in the form of Assault. Gets a combination attack with Yamame in FMW4
  102.
  103. Yamame: Both of her PSes don't work on bosses at all. She's effectively a less cost-effective Cirno, really. Gets a combination attack with Kisume in FMW4.
  104.
  105. Parsee: Can deal either higher damage on counters or higher damage to bosses. Has access to Fury and Triumph. Gets two new attacks in FMW4.
  106.
  107. Yuugi: Suika but better. L size, high armor, free Fury once per turn. The only thing she needs is Valor and she probably gets that in FMW4. Oh yeah she also costs a lot of MP.
  108.
  109. Satori: Can recollect the last hit attacks that hit a particular enemy, gets Attune and Bonds and a combination attack with Koishi to boot. Also her Mind Reading makes her auto-cast Alert.
  110.
  111. Orin: Has Devote and Faith, and Accel™. She can boost Okuu and her friendship, and her Devote can affect both units. She also can transform into Cat Form which gives her more move.
  112.
  113. Okuu: Has Grit and Valor. Has a super mode in which she gains a 200 Heat Bar (250 with one of her PSes), which fills up as she uses certain attacks. Being in this Super Mode also grants her a MAP and access to her two final moves.
  114.
  115. Koishi: Like her sister, she has Mind Reading to auto-cast Alert every turn. Has Assault, Confuse and Bonds. One of her PSes allows her to put herself in the front row at the end of the turn if she's in the backrow. Combination attack with Satori.
  116.
  117. Nazrin: Has Acc-- what. She doesn't have Accel wtf. Well she can inflict Armor Down on enemies for more damage. Worse Cirno aside from that. Gets a Pagoda alternate in FMW4 that gives her a new attack and a new combination with Shou. Also one of her PSes gets changed to always dealing crits against units of L size and above.
  118.
  119. Kogasa: Has Accel™. She can make any spirit of hers affect both units in the pair. Has a MAP that scans and applies a damage dealt debuff to enemies.
  120.
  121. Ichirin: Only regular unit with a double SP pool, thanks to Unzan. She can get a damage reduction barrier for Support Defending purposes. Has Grit, Fury and Valor.
  122.
  123. Murasa: Has a combination attack with the ship as a standalone unit. Has Grit, Fury and Valor. She can deal more damage to enemies submerged in water terrain, which works great with her own S Rank Water.
  124.
  125. Shou: Tank kit minus Guard. Can give more Points or increase damage. Pagoda alternate form in FMW4 gives her a few new attacks. She also gets Bravery after the Makai arc.
  126.
  127. Byakuren: Has the 2nd best damage-nullfying barrier in the game. She can also transform into a supermode. Has Continuous Attack, Love and Valor. Very MP intensive.
  128.
  129. Nue: She has Confuse and Adapt. Mid-battle she can be in 1 of 3 forms which change her stats and properties a bit. Red UFO Mode is the overall one and the default one. Green UFO mode is focused on armor and defense, and Blue UFO mode is focused on mobility at the expense of low HP. She also gets more move in Blue UFO Mode.
  130.
  131. Hisoutensoku: SUPAAAAAAAAAH ROBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT-- Ahem. Has Accel™. Is the only LL unit that's playable aside from the ship. It's PSes are fairly straightforward. Walking Mecha reference. Like srsly pls <3
  132.
  133. Hatate: She's effectively Aya except trading Accel for Alert. And having worse attacks. She can inflict Armor Down and she gets a combination with Aya in FMW4.
  134.
  135. Three Fairies: Queens of "not fucking dying ever". Have way too many Alert, Guard, Grits on stock. Decent fallback strategy in exchange for turn count I guess. They gain a 25% Perfect Dodge when combined in FMW3. Also Sunny's powered barrier blocks up to 3300 damage. Only Lasers, yes, but jeez that's a higher threshold than Mima's barrier. They get Fairy Overdrive as their new finisher come the Makai arc in FMW4.
  136.
  137. Yorihime: Has Zeal and Soul. One of her PSes allows her to overflow accuracy and convert anything above 100% into damage. Still OP.
  138.
  139. Toyohime: Has Accel™ and Enable. Her barrier reduces damage by 2k which is the best in the game. She can move enemy units around once per chapter, and she can have a MAP with infinite range.
  140.
  141. Rei'sen: Has two forms, Assault Form and Sniper Form. Her Assault Form is ammo based and one PS can convert remaining ammo into damage. Her Sniper form is MP based and another PS refills her MP to full.
  142.
  143. Ship: It's a ship. It has Grit and Valor. It can tug units inside it to regen HP and MP in exchange for a bit of Power. In FMW4 Kourin pilots. It still has Valor but it now loses Grit, in exchange for Guard. It's HP gets buffed to 10k and it gains a 1.7k damage blocking barrier too. Murasa can still be the captain, though.
  144.
  145. Akyuu: hahahahahahahhhhahahahahahaha...
