  1. How to watch streams using VLC
  2. ===============================
  3.
  4. Download VLC:
  5. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
  6.
  7. Download Livestreamer:
  8. https://github.com/chrippa/livestreamer/releases
  9.
  10. Create a new text file anywhere. Name it "twitchvlc.bat" and put the following code in it:
  11.
  12. @echo off
  13. set /p id="Enter Stream: " %=%
  14. set /p quality="Enter Quality: " %=%
  15. livestreamer twitch.tv/%id% %quality% --player "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe"
  16.
  17.
  18.
  19. Double click the batch file. It will prompt you for the stream name (just the Twitch username, not the full URL), and the video quality (if you aren't sure of the available quality options, "best" will always get the best quality choice).
  20.
  21. You can then open a browser window and go to http://twitch.tv/STREAMER_NAME_HERE/chat to open just the chat area.
  22.
  23.
  24.
  25. If you wish for the batch file to automatically open the chat as well, use this code instead (chat will open in your default browser):
  26.
  27. @echo off
  28. set /p id="Enter Stream: " %=%
  29. set /p quality="Enter Quality: " %=%
  30. start "webpage name" "http://soupinabox.com/kcid/TwitchChat.html?stream=%id%"
  31. livestreamer twitch.tv/%id% %quality% --player "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe"
  32.
  33.
  34. ############################
  35. **** If the path to your vlc.exe is different, replace "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" with the proper path in the code!
