- CROCII.DIR lists level .WAD files. Any way of extracting these from CROCII.DAT?
- Or use a hex editor to replace a level with a possibly unused level?

- ## 2) Differences between later demo and retail ##
- Versions compared: Euro Demo 48 (E) [SCED-01822]
- Retail: NTSC [U] [SLUS-00634]
- * The PAL demo build date is May 25 1999.14:17:44; the US retail build date is Jul 1 1999.14:31:00 and is designated as 'Final'.
- Pause menu:
- * no omniplay option
- Gameplay:
- * gameplay is slower and sluggish
- * game ends after losing
- * you can get all 100 gems the first time; in the retail you need to buy a blue gummi to get the orange gem to get the clockwork gobbo to get the last 10 gems
- * no exit behind you
- * no arrow sign to your right pointing at the exit
- * the first crate is to the right; in the retail it is to the left, before the caged Gobbo
- * Croc's voice in the first conversation is different and sounds more goofy
- * the Clockwork Gobbo Point between the two bridges is missing
- * the crates on either side of the bridge are not in the retail version
- * the blue gummi/jelly is active; not so in the retail
- * it is a Jelly Jumps in the PAL reigion; both the early NTSC demo and NTSC retail have them as Gummi Savers
- * the dialogue when freeing caged Gobbo is different; "You'll have many more adventures in the big version of Croc 2!" in the demo, "Use the door Croc came through to return to Village." in the retail
- * demo ends after freeing the Gobbo

- ## 3) Differences between early demo and retail ##
- Versions compared: Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine Demo Disc 22 [U] [SCUS-94430]
- Retail: NTSC [U] [SLUS-00634]
- * The NTSC demo build date is Mar 4 1999.19:31:14; the US retail build date is Jul 1 1999.14:31:00 and is designated as 'Final'.
- > this means that the North American demo is 2 months older than the European demo
- Title screen:
- * different splash screen before the title screen comes up
- * different title screen; demo has Gobbos dancing around a fire in a Stonehenge-esque structure. whereas the retail has Gobbos chilling on the beach
- * different sound effect plays when you press X
- * no cutscene that follows
- * no level name on the loading screen
- Pause menu:
- * the cat card graphic isn't in place, instead you get a spinning gem that represents total gems
- * the options is basically the sound options
- * the sound bar meters are in square notches in the demo, and a single
- * the sound mode is default on Mono in the demo; Stereo in the retail
- * the Music Volume music plays the current level music in the demo; the retail plays the title theme
- Gameplay:
- * you start off with 5 hearts, instead of 3
- * the first box is to the right in the demo, and left in the retail
- * walking to a new area starts the camera facing Croc and rotating around to his back
- * the checkpoint gong by the red gem tree is missing
- * a checkpoint gong is by the front of the bridge segment
- * a Gobbo is by this gong, telling you how it works (he doesn't exist in the retail)
- * the gong by the purple gem is missing
- * the clockwork gobbo pad between the two bridges is missing
- * the blue Gummi Savers jump pad is active in the demo, meaning you can get all the colour gems the first time round; the retail version requires you buy the blue jump pad from Swap Meet Pete
- * the demo has a heart container (gives extra hit point) on the ledge; the retail version just has a regular heart (restores a hit point)
- * there are two boxes in the clockwork gobbo room (100/100 gems); absent in the retail version (90/100 gems)
- * collecting all 100 gems gives you a single big crystal, rather than 100 crystals added onto your Pete card total
- Other differences:
- * the music is quieter in the demo
- * the music is a bit different; heavier percussion and a bit slower
- * different sound effect when pausing
- * pressing L2 and R2 don't do anything, whereas in the retail it shows items in your inventory
- * the textboxes with the Gobbo have a dark cloud-like texture surrounding them; this is absent in the retail
- * no voices in the demo
- * collecting a colour gem has a different animation; the demo has it appear then bounce a few times to its position, whereas in the retail it slides with glittery animation to its position
- * Croc makes a different sound when he rides a balloon
- * collecting all the gems doesn't play the extra sparkly sound effect

- ## 4) Cheat Engine codes ##
- http://i.imgur.com/AJw6uTr.png not a good idea to freeze a value associated with swimming
- Cheat Menu
- Retail
- 00AC7928 = cheat menu code. change value from 0 to 1 to activate the cheat mode. Hold L2 and T2 during gameplay to bring it up
- PAL demo (Euro Demo 48)
- 001CD994 = cheat menu code. change value from 0 to 1 to activate the cheat mode. Hold L2 and R2 during gameplay to bring it up
- Unfortunately, selecting a hub ends the demo.

- 00ACE4BC = level # 2 (mainly for sub-levels, like Secret Dratini levels)
