Academy Prompt

Tori sighed as she walked along the street, fingers trailing on the wrought iron gate that she followed. The old black metal encompassed a large portion of land, mostly wooded, but a large manor was visible atop a hill. Shinpi Academy, a private school where those of higher stature went to learn. Its name translated almost literally into 'mysterious', which was the perfect description for it. Sure, people said it was a normal academy... But perhaps the description fit the people more. Each from a high-class family that harbored secrets...

She'd come a day early in hopes that she might be able to avoid the lines, but sighed when she saw so many people already heading through the open gates and up the path towards the check-in. Great... Lines...

She flicked some hair out of her face with a fingertip, deciding to sit at the base of a tree and wait it out.

Tori Tamako was a pretty thing, half American and half Japanese. Porcelain skin, slightly rounded almond eyes of a pretty jade green, black hair that she'd had a fit about and cut herself, making it a rough, shaggy mess, unevenly cut and varying in length from near shoulder length to close to her head. She wore the uniform of the school- red plaid skirt, white blouse, black thigh-high stockings, black tie- but it was loose and slightly disheveled, mostly to spurn her father. She didn't want to come here...

She watched those who passed, seeing them talk to each other like old friends. She didn't really have in-person friends. Only online friends. Speaking of...

She looked to her phone and logged into the chat service she'd found a couple months ago, taking on her usual name of Kasai, and messaging her friend.

<Kasai> Hey, you online?
<Kasai> Come on, I'm dying out here.
<Kasai> I don't even want to be at this stupid school...
<Kasai> Remind me to tell my dad how much I hate it here.
