  1. -DESPITE WHAT IS WRITTEN THIS IS BY NO MEANS MEANT TO SMEAR ANY PARTICULAR GROUP AS A WHOLE, MAINLY TO AIM FOCUS ON THE MORE EXTREMIST ONE. I DO BELIEVE IN EQUALITY *BUT* WITHIN REASON. IF YOU REALLY TRULY FEEL THAT YOU ARE OFFENDED (OR CAN'T COME UP WITH A GOOD AND MATURE COUNTER-ARGUMENT), THEN FEEL FREE TO LEAVE THIS PAGE-

  3. Okay so this is a pretty long one that I doubt will happy anything due to the recent decision that was made about the character but whatever....
  4.
  5. Firstly, even if it has been confirmed that doesn't necessarily stop people from making fan works where Bridget isn't depicted as trans.
  6. A case example is the amount of crack shipping (especially yuri and yaoi) stuff of characters who are canonically have love interest (and also for said characters who are canonically straight for the gay shippings), another example is also genderebent fan works as well. Fan works simply bypass "canon" to suit the fan creators' desires and help shape a franchise as a whole (it's called a "headcanon" for a reason). An example would be to look at the Gundam franchise's AU stuff, while they didn't follow the continuity of the UC timeline they cemented they own legacy in spite of it. Now yes, they were partly made to somewhat spite Yoshiyuki Tomino who temporary left the franchise on a sour note after Victory Gundam, but the intent is still similar (Plus if you go by Turn A Gundam, they DID TECHNICALLY became canon). Another example is the Touhou franchise, due to the nature of it through games, print work, CDs and what-have-you, this has somewhat left doujinshika to add their own headcanon on the characters. whether for comedy or not. Yes, these are just doujinshi and will never be considered canon like the Gundam AUs; but, to those who fans of Touhou stuff, how many of you go by the CANONICAL character interpretations made by ZUN and not a different one made a random doujinshika? What of the memes that are based around said different interpretations? Another case of this is also mythology and stuff like that. While yes certain parts of it are common, there are other parts that vary. This COULD also extend to stuff like manga adaptations as well. Certainly the "is trans" part DOES NOT mean you HAVE to follow what the canon says.

  8. Secondly in somewhat relation to this, you can simply not acknowledge it PERSONALLY if YOU don't feel it jives with what YOU want.
  9. People have in the past did this with other franchises as well. Whenever there was something about a recent installment that rubbed them he wrong way. An example would be how a major Star Wars fans for the longest time before the sequels hated the prequels and how some even pretend they didn't exists. However, when the sequels came out, they cause people who pretended the prequel didn't exists to resend and pretend the sequels don't exists. Another example would be the View Askewniverse, there are some people that hate the later films after Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (or whatever film you think Kevin Smith peaked with) will also pretend that they didn't exists.
  10. Now since Guilty Gear is a game from Japan, let's look at some examples of this. A Japanese video game example would be the Sonic games and how some people will pretend certain games just don't exists to them due to how bad certain later games get. An anime example will be how Naruto fans just outright hate Boruto and how some will even say that series properly ended after Shippuden. So yes, people are willing to deny that something happened instead of knowing it to be true due to the alternative to being downright distressing. "This is just coping" in a way yeah; however, we all at some point did something like this to an installment or a certain direction with a series we love ate least once or so. In a situation where you either have to remember something you don't want to or remembering something you do, the latter is the VERY easy choice.

  12. Thirdly it's not like the people who back the trans thing are EVER gonna follow the character, let alone play the character. No what they're going to do is celebrate this "win" in a few days or weeks or maybe for a month and than forget the character's existence until he become relevant again some way (I don't know, maybe they kill him off or something). I'm VERY certain that even if Daisuke said no to trans this whole situation would have been forgotten by them as well (even if they riot and cancel ArcSys). There is also the VERY SLIGHT possibility that someone will just overrule this decision if they decide to bring the character back in the future somehow. As far as I know Daisuke has no creative control over the series now and given the poor quality for the writing for the recent entry, it's SOMEWHAT safe to say that this is temporary. Also despite what Daisuke said, I'm pretty certain that Twitter has EVERYTHING to do with the decision over the character. I certainly hope Daisuke isn't TOO MUCH of corporate spaz and/or an idiot to make this decision just to get people off his back for the time being while he himself knows it to be not true.

  14. Lastly in relation to the first part, it's not like the character HIMSELF will be offended by people making fan work or saying it in conversation not showing and referring to the character as trans. Wanna know why? BECAUSE BRIDGET ISN'T NOT REAL!! And the only people who will be offended by this are people IRL. Seriously, why the hell should people care about the feelings of a fictional character. The only feelings that will be hurt is everyone's BUT the character's. No one should be bent out of shape because they unhealthily attach themselves to a character that ISN'T EVEN THEM and DOES NOT EVEN EXISTS because someone want to make the character shagging broads or whatever ticks them off. What do think is going to happen if I say call Bridget a he/him, he's going to appear in my room to yell at me and beat me up because I used the wrong pronouns? Get real! I never get why people need a representative to be a fictional character. It's not like you're gonna thank them for representing you or anything and expect them to reply with a "YER WELLCUM". It's not like Mexicans were going to burn down WB if they didn't created Speedy Gonzales. It's not like South Koreans were going to call Capcom racist towards South Koreans if they didn't Make Juri Han. So why are people so ga-ga for making this character theirs? Whatever happened to making their own representative for the series? Or why not just celebrate the REAL LIFE trans icons they have. At least they'll reply to their thanks. There's also the fact that despite them being primary against conservative mindsets; but, they think that anyone who engages in crossdressing (a concept not entirely rooted transsexualism) is a trans person. What a very conservative thing to do, simply labeling someone as such because they decide to wear clothing of the opposite gender. It wouldn't be shocking if THEY think that White Chicks, Big Mama, Ms. Doubtfire are trans media and Tyler Parry is a trans icon.

  16. And so that's why I'm still going to be referring to this character as he/him no matter what. And all of this can also apply to you--the reader, if you want. I know where I stand and if you want to join me, then so be it. I'm certain that people will be afraid to be labelled as a bigot or whatnot if they don't "follow canon" and the fear is somewhat understandable; however, that simply letting these types of extremists walk all over you is how most dictatorships are formed. Despite what people say, most people do not live in a dictatorship. We have the right to an opinion and the right to make whatever we please and that is the beauty of Human nature. Don't let this people take that. I would like to leave off with an excerpt from the Agent Orange song "The Last Goodbye" as I feel it is partly appropriate to this situation.

  18. "Someday someone somewhere somehow
  19. Is going to make you understand
  20. These word will drill into your head
  21. You undergo the process then
  22. You will do anything they say
  23. They will have power over you
  24. You will not question their authority
  25. You know what they can do
  26.
  27. I shake my head, I don't know what to say
  28. I see my chance to turn and walk away
  29. I will not be a part of this romance
  30. I just can't take that chance
  31. Because I see my opportunity to shout
  32. The Last Goodbye"
  33.
  34.
  35. tl;dr, Fan works and headcanons exists for a reason and EVERYBODY is guilty of it. So it doesn't matter what Daisuke says. Plus LEGITIMATE FANS of this character will pretend that the decision doesn't exists. And the people rooting for the trans stuff would stop caring and this decision MAY NOT stick forever. Also making a fictional rep is cringe, these people will say anything is trans. Also you can agree with this idea as well if you want.
