  1.
  2. Disaster Area - Today at 22:02
  3. can you teach me a bit about how to use like different sorts of teams in adv ubers
  4. ive mastered like 1 weird sort of style of team more or less but it's not a particularly relevant one and I think I have a ton to learn about the meta still
  5. Minority - Today at 22:02
  6. what specifically
  7. Disaster Area - Today at 22:03
  8. well the only thing i've really figured out how to use so far is like bliss/tar/forry stall... I'd like to learn how to use stuff like sun and rain offense, deo-a, cm mewtwo, other kinds of stall, all that sort of stuff
  9. Minority - Today at 22:03
  10. building, playing, or both
  11. Disaster Area - Today at 22:03
  12. both
  13. Minority - Today at 22:04
  14. first advice would be to understand the construction of what a sun or a rain team needs to acomplish
  15. Disaster Area - Today at 22:04
  16. altho i can probably figure out some of the other kinds of stall stuff myself, i'm really still not sure where to begin with offense both in how to build it and how to use it
  17. alright so what are sun and rain team's goals? to maintain their weather so that they can use powerful sweepers e.g. exeggutor, kingdra, or whatever to plow through teams? + wearing down checks and counters to those pokemon
  18. Minority - Today at 22:05
  19. Kingdra isn't really vaible
  20. eggy is usable, but not all that good
  21. Disaster Area - Today at 22:05
  22. yea i didnt rly know whats viable or not in terms of weather abusers
  23. tho i've looked at the viab rankings
  24. Minority - Today at 22:06
  25. it's not just swift swimmers that benefit from rain
  26. Disaster Area - Today at 22:06
  27. i just named two off the top of my head
  28. and i know its not just chloro users that benefit from sun
  29. in rain you also have mons that can run thunder
  30. e.g. latis, subpetaya deo-a, mewtwo
  31. in sun you boost fire type attacks which helps ho-oh
  32. rain obv boosts water type attacks but that mainly benefits kyogre itself and swift swimmers
  33. Minority - Today at 22:07
  34. the most generalized construction of an ADV rain team is like
  35. Disaster Area - Today at 22:07
  36. and the way it reduces fire type attacks' power helps stuff like forretress too
  37. Minority - Today at 22:07
  38. Ogre / offensive rainmon / bulky rainmon / steel / normal / Lati
  39. Disaster Area - Today at 22:08
  40. interesting, so why is that. ogre is obv, as is offensive rain mon
  41. Minority - Today at 22:08
  42. you basically just need to decide the offensive synergy
  43. with the first three mons
  44. Disaster Area - Today at 22:08
  45. lati im guessing is the kyogre answer and groudon answer, but the normal if you choose blissey can help w ogre(edited)
  46. Minority - Today at 22:08
  47. like that's just a rough outline
  48. Disaster Area - Today at 22:08
  49. yea
  50. Minority - Today at 22:08
  51. you don't have to have a normal
  52. Disaster Area - Today at 22:08
  53. ok then
  54. alright so first 3 is the offensive synergy
  55. so that's about stuff like wearing down checks and counters for eachother
  56. Minority - Today at 22:09
  57. basically pick Ogre + 2 mons that you want to run with it
  58. that have good offensive coheasion
  59. Disaster Area - Today at 22:09
  60. so like cm self-destruct mewtwo paves the way for cm lati against blissey teams etc
  61. Minority - Today at 22:09
  62. think of forcing trades / damage in your favor
  63. or an arrangement of breakers that support eachother
  64. as an example one of my favorite rain offenses uses
  65. Ogre + Petaya Deo-A + Oma
  66. Disaster Area - Today at 22:10
  67. yeah... so how do those 3 complement eachother?
  68. Minority - Today at 22:10
  69. Petaya Deo-A wants Spikes
  70. Oma has Spikes
  71. and can trash the most common spinners
  72. Rain supports both of them
  73. Deo-A can break things that Oma can't
  74. Oma can revenge things Deo-A can't
  75. Disaster Area - Today at 22:10
  76. what does petaya deo-a want spikes for? is it bc it forces switches? what sort of mons does it need damage on
  77. Minority - Today at 22:11
  78. Shedinja
  79. Ogre + Don
  80. defenisve thats that will try to pivot around to play around your move selection
  81. Spikes will stop all of these
  82. Disaster Area - Today at 22:11
  83. ah ok nice
  84. Minority - Today at 22:12
  85. so you need to figure out what rainmons you want to use
  86. Disaster Area - Today at 22:13
  87. okay, and then for the remaining 3 slots, what do you need to do with them? anything beyond making sure you don't lose to various threats or is there more to it too?
  88. Minority - Today at 22:13
  89. you basically use them to cover the rest of offensive threats
  90. while trying to maximize offensive synergy
  91. Disaster Area - Today at 22:13
  92. ah ok, so yea that's ordinary teambuilding stuff
  93. Minority - Today at 22:14
  94. it will usually involve a Lati, a steel, a normal, or some other combo
  95. Disaster Area - Today at 22:14
  96. and then do you have tips on for example how to use that team / how to use rain teams in general? Also how do you go about deciding upon a kyogre set?
  97. Minority - Today at 22:14
  98. Kyogre is something you tailor to your build
  99. and usually comes down to needing it to break X, Y, and Z, or needing it to have better staying power and ability to check offensive mons A, B, and C
  100. Disaster Area - Today at 22:15
  101. ah ok is there a good list somewhere of its sets
  102. i think shrang did mini analyses?
  103. Minority - Today at 22:15
  104. shrang's thread is probably the best documented one
  105. Disaster Area - Today at 22:15
  106. i cant access them bc u need to log in to see them tho but yea...
  107. ok then
  108. and i guess the same can be said with sun
  109. what other types of offense are there
  110. Minority - Today at 22:19
  111. they're a bit different
  112. Disaster Area - Today at 22:19
  113. or do p much all offenses use sun/rain
  114. Minority - Today at 22:19
  115. rain and sun each have their own little kinks
  116. for example rain teams need to be very aware of opposing Thunder and how to handle it
  117. Disaster Area - Today at 22:19
  118. interesting
  119. Minority - Today at 22:20
  120. there's basically just 3 types of offense, rain, sun, and independent
  121. Spikes may or may not accompany any of them
  122. Disaster Area - Today at 22:20
  123. okay
  124. what mons are commonly seen as spikers, bc afaik there's a lot of options
  125. Minority - Today at 22:21
  126. Deo, Forry, Oma
  127. Disaster Area - Today at 22:21
  128. forry/skarm/deo forms/cloy/qwilfish/oma...
  129. Minority - Today at 22:21
  130. Skarm
  131. Cloy isn't really a thing
  132. Disaster Area - Today at 22:21
  133. fair enough
  134. why arent rayquaza/mew/maybe some other stuff idk not commonly seen?
  135. also, how do you use wobb effectively?
  136. Minority - Today at 22:21
  137. Ray is common
  138. probably overused in fact
  139. Mew isn't very good
  140. Disaster Area - Today at 22:22
  141. interesting
  142. how do you use ray / what sets does it run
  143. Minority - Today at 22:22
  144. Wobb is cool for punishing CB users and manufacturing turns
  145. Disaster Area - Today at 22:22
  146. im used to OU so I think of it as similar to salamence ig
  147. Minority - Today at 22:22
  148. Ray is CB, mixed, or DD
  149. Disaster Area - Today at 22:22
  150. yea ive had wobb used against me before paired w/ ninjask, is that common
  151. Minority - Today at 22:22
  152. no, ninjask is not a common mon
  153. and its kind of bad
  154. Disaster Area - Today at 22:23
  155. interesting
  156. it was able to set up on me pretty effectively but i've been spamming various semistalls so
  157. probably some amount of matchup to be blamed there
  158. Minority - Today at 22:23
  159. wobb should be on like a balance or HO that wants to be able to really punish CB stuff, and create an op for some offensive mon
  160. Disaster Area - Today at 22:24
  161. what do shedinja teams normally look like?
  162. Minority - Today at 22:25
  163. Shed / Forry / Mag / Groudon / Lati / tank
  164. Disaster Area - Today at 22:26
  165. is forry the only good spinner?
  166. Minority - Today at 22:26
  167. the only good defensive one
  168. Disaster Area - Today at 22:26
  169. ah ok
  170. why does claydol suck
  171. stats just too low
  172. ?
  173. Minority - Today at 22:26
  174. I've tested that mon a lot with mm2
  175. it just doesn't do as much as forry can
  176. Disaster Area - Today at 22:27
  177. interesting, fair enough then
  178. Minority - Today at 22:27
  179. forry can spike, spin, explode, and check a number of physical threats
  180. claydol can spin, weak explode, and that's mostly it
  181. its ground immune, but its not really a good Don check
  182. Disaster Area - Today at 22:27
  183. beats rayquaza and some groudon i guess
  184. Minority - Today at 22:28
  185. because you get HP Ghosted
  186. Disaster Area - Today at 22:28
  187. i guess yea it is just like... stats too low
  188. mm
  189. Minority - Today at 22:28
  190. or Fire Blast or Toxic
  191. Disaster Area - Today at 22:29
  192. well, thx for all that info
  193.
