  1. Disclaimer #1: Personally, I find colored text (instead of black) at least as annoying as text that is big small, lines that are too wide, and line spacing that is too tight.

  3. Disclaimer #2: I do not believe in walkthroughs; I do not believe in them, and neither should you. It is not a satisfactory experience for me to refer to help in order to make progress in the game. I like to think. But this is a timed evaluation.

  5. This is likely IFComp's 2019 "flashiest" piece I have reviewed so far, and likely that is because of its basic color choice---black background and brightly colored links. But it suits this piece, e.g. when each color refers to a type of action. And love it or hate it, those colors remain a piece of '90s hypertext memorabilia---how appropriate, because I am getting little '90s LucasArts vibes from this too. Chuk is a likeable character, it never gives up, and it is in the right the whole time defending its moon by sacrificing itself for the greater good. Also, I would have liked to read some thoughts on Chuk origin story, because the piece really had potential for that. I am pretty sure I am going back to this entry for a good read sometime in the future, and this one---on the subject of underdogs who emerge victorious---can still teach me something.

  7. Some people say (weasel words) that long gone are the days when players persevered for hours on end to figure out a game when they got stuck. Well, I got stuck at this choice-based, web-based, space-opera, comedy puzzle. I was not able to prepare me to win the first fight. The real issue was, how does a choice-based game respond when the player has seen all she can see, learned all she can learn, and now is stuck wandering aimlessly around hoping to stumble upon the right combination (use) of puzzle items for puzzle solving tasks. And again, when I exhaust all options, I would like the computer to keep track of this situation. "But, it's just a choice-bas..." SHOULDN'T THIS BE TRACKED BY THE COMPUTER?

  9. "Fighting naked is prohibited. M'zzur Enterprises respects your culture's habits, but we need to ask you to respect our audience's sensibilities as well." You know, and I know that in 2019, the author's words had struck home.
