  1. Good afternoon! I’m Raphael Pirro. HERE ARE TODAY’S HEADLINES: Raising a stink over recycling. Crying foul over a Mount Royal ballpark And -- the problem with pets .
  2. NDG is in the middle of a garbage crisis. Sidewalks are covered in trash after a recycling contractor suddenly stopped work in the area. The only got worse after last week’s heatwave caused new smells -- and new complaints. Thomas Delbano looks at what’s being done to fix the problem.

  10. 02 / NDG SNOW / PIRRO / VO
  11. A new report says NDG-Cote des Neiges wasn’t ready for last year’s December snowstorms. NDG was highlighted in the report commissioned by the Montreal Economic Institute. It says the borough hadn’t even signed contracts with snow removal companies when the first storm hit in mid-December. The report says things only got worse when Montreal city hall decided to leave the snow to melt on its own. It took more than three weeks to clear. The report says that many boroughs improved their snowclearing in the new year -- but not Cote des Neiges-NDG. The borough remained dead last on the island when it came to clearing the roads.
  12. 03 / MT ROYAL SOFTBALL / LESSARD / PAK
  13. Softball players are continuing to fight to get their beloved North field back in Jeanne Mance Park. It was bulldozed in the Spring even though the borough had promised to keep -- and even improve it. Aviva Lessard looks at what’s being done to bring the field back.

  21. 04 / EXPRESSWAY COURT / PIRRO / VO
  22. Westmount is going to court to try and stop construction on the new Ville-Marie Expressway. City officials say the province lied to them when they signed on to the project. Original plans showed the new highway 15 meters lower than the current one. But now it’s being built at the same level. Westmount says that creates noise problems for people living alongside the road. They want the project to be revised back to the original plans. Or they want the province to build a sound barrier -- with a price tag of ten million dollars.
  23. 05 / TOO MANY PETS / HAFIZ / PAK
  24. Are there too many pets in Montreal? The question comes up every July when hundreds -- even thousands -- are abandoned on Moving Day. Some believe that there simply aren’t enough laws to regulate pet owners and pet stores. Mishkat Hafiz looks into the problem for us.
