Are you afraid of the bedroom?

Alexithymiaa: -Steph was lying on the couch, completely exhausted from continuously not really sleeping. She'd been dosing off while watching tv, a pile of cats next to her. Her head finally dipped and her eyes closed, passing out cold with her head propped up by pillows.-
Covet: Felix had been checking emails and such after sending off a couple of applications to contests hoping he'd hear back from at least one of them. He clicked on one of them and opened it up, reading it. "No fuckin way!" He exclaimed loudly.
Alexithymiaa: -She nearly jumped out of her skin when he yelled, her head flying up off the pillow with her eyes wide and alert. Her jumping also sent the cats jumping off the couch, skittering away from them. Shhe slowly turned her head to stare at him, completely out of sorts.-
Covet: "Shit. sorry.. My bad..." Felix said looking over at the startled mass. "So... some semi good news..." He said with a sheepish grin, pointing at his laptop with his good arm. " I've made it into the top fifty for a contest that I submitted some photos to."
Alexithymiaa: -She yawned and covered her mouth with her hand, blinking several times at him with an unamused expression before leaning in to look at his computer. "That's great. What did you submit?"-
Covet: "Just a few pictures from the fire a couple years ago. It was to some nature magazine. If I win, they're giving away fifteen hundred dollars. Not much, but it's something."
Alexithymiaa: "Not much?" She asked him as she battled back another yawn, raising her brows. "Kind of seems like a lot to me. That could cover your dream cake, you know."-
Covet: "Or it could cover a generous offering to the DJ. Or towards your dress." He said looking at her. "I was thinking... Would you be opposed to having cupcakes as well as our actual wedding cake? That way we can actually cut the cost a little bit by having a smaller cake?"
Alexithymiaa: "I'm not spending that much money on a dress." She said quickly, shaking her head and reaching her hand down to run it over Nugget's back as he walked over. "Cupcakes are cute. We can do cupcakes. But they do have to be cute."-
Covet: "Why not? I've heard of them being more expensive. And if what you want is that important then of course we can absolutely spend that much. The cake is going to be eaten, that dress is going to hold a lot of good memories in it, and is something that will be with you for a long time. I'd rather it be made of quality materials and design."
Alexithymiaa: "When you spend that much, you're not paying for quality materials, you're paying for the name attached to it. I don't care who makes it, I just care what it looks like. I don't really want to be overcharged for the same dress just because some uppity designer put her stamp on it. It's not necessary." She blew out a deep breath, leaning down to struggle to drag Nugget up onto the couch with them. "I'm sure I can find something just as nice, for cheaper."-
Covet: "BUT... if we don't I still intend to buy you exactly what you want, regardless of price." He said to her, staying firm on that not caring about anything she just said to him. "And the cupcakes will be cute, with those nice realistic looking flowers that are edible." He couldn't help but laugh at her as she struggled to get his dog on the couch. "Have you thought more about the whole dog thing."
Alexithymiaa: "Within reason." She corrected, because as firm as he was about it, she was just as firm on the opposite end. "I don't know what more there is to think about. I want to feel comfortable and safe in my own home. So either we get a gun, or we get a guard dog. I figured you'd be more receptive to having a guard dog."-
Covet: "Well yeah. definitely the dog over the gun. I mean. I get the idea of having the gun and all, it just doesn't make me feel safe. The dog does though." Felix told her.
Alexithymiaa: "See." She said quickly, almost satisfied with herself for not even bringing up the gun idea in the first place knowing he wouldn't like it. "I was looking it up a bit and there are rescue groups specifically for dogs that were trained for the police or other security divisions that didn't make it all the way through the program. Which... sounds like they might not be the best, but apparently dogs get dismissed from the program for a lot of different reasons and most of the time it's not because they're not good at what they do, but maybe they're not in perfect physical condition and the kind of demanding job they have wouldn't mesh well. So a family guard dog would still be fine."- (Me, reading intensely over the weekend about guard dog breeds and rescue groups)
Covet: "Wow, you really went and did your homework." And yeah, I imagine they still know the training, they're just over active and can't stay focused when it's a training situation, or maybe they've got a heart thing.. Yeah I get what you're saying. What kind of breeds did you have in mind?"
Alexithymiaa: "Exactly. Obvious German Shepherds are what they use for a lot of the K9 units so realistically they'll probably be the easiest to find, but they also have rescue groups for trained mastiffs, dobermann, and rotties." She paused, pursing her lips. "Honestly... I don't want a dobermann. It's breed standard to drop their ears and their tails and any rescue group that has them trained is going to follow breed standards and I'm really against literally cutting a dogs ears down just because people think it's more attractive for the breed. I won't support that."-

Covet: "That's fine, and yeah that makes me sad. I know that Rotties tend to have a higher chance of hip displasia compared to other dogs, But I'm not opposed to a sheppard, especially if we got lucky and were able to find a Malinoise over the normal german sheperd. They have shorter hair." He said with a nod.
Alexithymiaa: "Shepherds are actually really loyal and supposedly the best with families and children...." She started in, just sort of leaving that door open there. "That might be our best bet."-
Covet: "I'm game, Mastiffs tend to get slobbery, and we already have a slobber monster, we don't need two." Felix said, "Plus if we have the dog for a long time too, it will be extra loyal."
Alexithymiaa: -She looked down at Nugget, giving his face some pets, smooshing it all around. "There's no slobber monster here. Just a C-O-O-K-I-E monster." She said with a smile as she loved on him. "Mhm. Being good with kids is definitely a concern of mine. I don't want the dog to get too attached to us and be jealous of a baby."-
Covet: "Yeah you spell out that word otherwise you're going to be covered in drool because he wants one." Felix said to her snickering. "Yeah that makes sense." He said with a nod of his his head.
Alexithymiaa: "Shhhh it's not his fault. He just knows what he likes." She said as she continued to rub her hands over Nugget's back, scratching at him. "So does this mean I should call and talk to someone at the shepherd rescue and set up a time for us to come in and meet some dogs?"-
Covet: "Yes, you should. And I"m going to go about looking into hedgehogs... or some other sort of small thing I can put in my pocket and take with me places." He said rubbing his hands together in his lap.
Alexithymiaa: "Arizona..." She said in a low tone, giving him a look. "This doesnt mean you just pick a random thing just to have something of your own. This dog is both of ours and is a necessity to our home. And where do you expect to put a tank?"-
Covet: "Maybe it won't be a tank, maybe it will be a cage that I can put my finger in. And I'll put it in the office, right under the window, so that my new friend has a view." He said ignoring the whole random picking thing.
Alexithymiaa: "Right... but sometimes a tank is necessary for certain types of animals. Sometimes even though theyre bigger than the bars, they can squeeze through. Or maybe their food can..." She paused, giving him another look. "Which isnt going to apply because I'm going to hard veto anything that eats live food."-
Covet: "No I don't want a snake or anything like that. Hedge hog for sure, unless I find something else cute and adorable that you won't be able to deny me because it's cute and adorable." Felix said with a grin.
Alexithymiaa: "Good because you're not getting a snake. Not in this house. Not on this property. Not if you still want to get married in June." She spoke quickly, yawning again. "A hedgehog is fine, but I'm going to highly suggest you don't name it Sonic or Amy Rose."-
Covet: "Snakes are.. eh.. Not my cup of tea." He said shrugging it off, "Those are lame hedgehog names, No, I'm going to name it Peyote, or Saguaro... those are cacti by the way." Felix added.
Alexithymiaa: "Not my cup of tea either..." She grumbled, giving a little shiver of her shoulders and pulling Nugget closer. "Of course they are. I like Peyote."-

Covet: "Me too. It's a halucinagenic cacti." He said as if that some how made it all better.
Alexithymiaa: "Color me surprised." She said with a small laugh, shifting Nugget off of her lap and onto the couch when her legs started to go numb from his butt. "Can we please just get a guard dog situated first before we start going crazy?"-
Covet: "Absolutely. Because that's going to take a bit to get said dog comfortable around the house and with the other pets too. So the sooner we make that happen the sooner it will be effective." He told her.
Alexithymiaa: "I know. And I feel like we just have so much going on right now that throwing another dog into the mix isn't the best idea... but at the same time it doesnt feel like we have a choice right now." She exhaled deeply, pushing her hands back over her hair. "I still have to rehearse with the Kittens for Tuesday."-
Covet: "Exactly, so instead we'll take it one day at a time. Maybe they will have a dog ready for us by Thursday?" He asked her. "Don't forget we've got Seattle plans this coming weekend too." He looked over at her, "But for now I think it's bed time."
Alexithymiaa: "I know. I remember." She said with an exhale, reminding herself they needed the money. She glanced over at the bedroom door, her stomach sinking. "Maybe we can sort of camp out on the couch tonight?"-
Covet: "Okay, that works for me, that means I get to watch cartoons and curl up with all my favorite people and fur critters." He said closing his computer to get comfy with her on the couch.
Alexithymiaa: "You know, you can do that regardless of where we sleep..." She reminded him, sliding down and pulling the blanket over to cover them, getting all comfy for 'couch sleeps' even if they dont last very long.-
