  1. Note: if you have already installed DOSBox, you can skip points 1 and 2. After the first setup you can also skip steps 3-6. Step 7 can also be skipped by writing the mount commands into your DOSBox config file's "autoexec" part.
  2.
  3. 1. Get the DOSBox version approriate for whatever system you're using from here: https://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1.
  4.
  5. 2. Create a folder for your DOS content. For example C:\DOS.
  6.
  7. 3. Go to your DOSBox options. A shortcut is available in the folder where you installed DOSBox as well as the Start Menu (if this option was allowed during installation).
  8.
  9. 4. In dosbox.conf, change the line "machine=svga_s3" to read "machine=svga_et4000".
  10.
  11. 5. Download Windows 3.11 from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?9nm53nry9g4hxz2
  12. And GPM1 from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?3qpbq5e5bpo6lbi
  13.
  14. 6. Extract both files to your DOS directory. Notice that the version of Windows 3.11 included here has already been installed and set up properly, so you don't need to run any further setup programs.
  15.
  16. 7. Open DOSBox. To run any programs you need to mount a C: drive first. To do this write "mount c c:\dos" (remember to change the folder to whatever you picked in step 3) and hit Enter. After the confirmation message just write "C:" to be taken to your new virtual C: drive.
  17.
  18. 8. To start Windows 3.11, you can either type "cd windows" and then "win" or simply "\windows\win". The Windows 3.11 boot screen appears.
  19.
  20. 9. Double click on File Manager and navigate to a folder called "mps" under which you should find "gpm". Scroll through the folder to find "gpm.exe" and double click on that.
  21.
  22. 10. The game should now start up. Ignore the warning about a missing CD by clicking on "Cancel" and you can enjoy the game!
  23.
  24. OPTIONAL FULL SCREEN MODE: The version of Windows 3.11 included here has been configured to run in 640x480 256 colour mode. This means that with the appropriate DOSBox settings you can in fact play the game in full screen. To do this, go to your DOSBox options and change the line "fullscreen=false" to read "fullscreen=true" and add "aspect=true" after "fullresolution=original". This way you get an appropriate 4:3 fullscreen display on widescreen monitors.
