The Hunter (Idea for character)

The whole idea is that
one day, in his world, magic returned and with it came gods and beings who claimed to want to lead humanity to glory, but instead they began to lead humanity to ruin, creating soulless husks to serve them as creatures of darkness (akin to eldritch gods and entities and shit) prayed upon them
Hunters rose to try and fight back but lacked the power needed to permanently kill them.
that was when a rogue god who hated all others, ridiculed and shamed by his very own kind rose up and made a deal with the greatest of those hunters, a deal was forged and he gave to the hunter his blood, his flesh, and a fragment of his very own being. Using these artifacts he became unto a demigod himself and was able to begin killing off the beings that preyed on humanity.
and he began to hunt for others to join him, over a thousand hunters rose up to the challenge and took upon the same gifts that the rogue god had given the first hunter
not many survived, many of them succumbing to the power flowing through them and becoming dark entities themselves, warped and broken beyond recognition.
at the end of it all, a mere 50 hunters rose up, 50 demigods to fight against the dark, now Immortal and with powers far beyond any mere human.
a war broke out and many of the dark beings and gods were slew by the hunters and over time they were hailed as heroes.
but...
even heroes will one day succumb to the dark.
it became clear that over time, the power they had been granted slowly began to consume them
so they mastered ancient magical techniques to seal and stave off the infection that they had taken upon themselves
but even that does not stop it fully.
a day will come when even the hunters, revered as heroes by humanity, will fall to the darkness themselves and until that day comes they will carry on in their eternal duty to slay the last of the gods and dark beings.
and at the end of it all, they will turn and slay themselves as well, for that is their final sacrifice to free humanity once and for all.

pretty much everything i've thought up so far.
i've thought up some of their gear as well.
He'd be a guy who uses a wide variety of tools
he has an enchanted serrated blade for dealing with monsters themselves.
and a Silver blade, consecrated and blessed/enchanted specifically to deal with being that lack souls within them.
it essentially makes their forms turn to ash.
He also has an iron/metal blade that's non-enchanted for dealing with shit like cultists and others.
His magical fighting style revolves around using sealing magic as well as just sort of...brushing off magic using a specialized (eldritch) shield
he's essentially meant to be a magical sealing warrior/tank that can slowly weaken opponent as they fight them.
if that opponent uses magic
also having the powers of a demigod, immortality, inhuman strength, inhuman speed, being able to perceive and react faster than any normal human can.
the works.
he can also, as a last measure, call  upon the eldritch power within him, temporarily transforming a bodypart into a deadly eldritch bio-weapon
and as a downside to all this, his hyperified healing abilities that allow him to survive most attacks also uhh...
have the side effect of slightly acellerating his corruption
so he's a hunter of the dark and those who serve it, doomed to one day join their ranks.
and he accepts this as his duty and his destiny.
another thing is that they consume the beings and monsters they kill and this staves off the infection and in some cases may even slightly reverse it.
