  43. ✧History: [What was their life like before the Killing Game?]: - The marriage of her mother and father, Oriko and Juzo, was happy and peaceful. However, when when Oriko got pregnant, their marriage started to slowly decline. The father would keep disappearing late at night, not explaining to his wife ever of what he was doing or dealing with. Although he would be drinking a lot. The night Kasumi was born, he left her and her mother when their daughter was born. Her mother wanted her husband to be found, and as it turns out, her father was found, but not alive. He was hanging from a noose in the most infamous forest in all of Japan: The Suicide Forest. Kasumi's mother had no reconciliation of him ever being depressed, taking any medication for said illness, or never shown any signs of it. Due to this, Kasumi never met her father. However, once her mother had revealed what had happened after her birth, she spoke very high of him. Being a good man of support, love, and care. Though school life for her wasn't the best. Children would make fun of Kasumi for having a dead relative, because of her appearance, what types of interests she was into, e.t.c,. As a result, she was bullied by girls and sometimes boys. One even force-fed grass on the playground. The school would do everything in their power to try to stop it, but it was a failure. Kasumi had to move from her original school and moved to another one. Though, it ceased some, the bullying would continue, causing Kasumi to never speak up about the incidents. She would keep to herself with books, little items, and would draw to spend some time. Although, she has met a few kind souls in her life. They didn't last too long, however, due to some moving away or had found better friend groups. Usually the latter. Aside her mother being the most kind to her in Middle School, Kasumi's art teacher, Mrs. Fumiyo, was her role model. She inspired her students, especially Kasumi, who already had low-self esteem of bullies mocking her artwork. In response of this, Mrs. Fumiyo inspired her to draw, to paint, to tell creative stories of her own. Although aware of the bullying and upset that her student couldn't open up to her regardless of how close she grew to her, Mrs. Fumiyo made sure that the bullies would back off as long as she could before she passed away of cancer. Alone once again, Kasumi remembers her encouragement to keep her imagination open and to let it grow more, also having her continuing to draw and improve. This lead her to have her mother purchase a journal, that way she could draw and write out her thoughts and perhaps tell little fictional stories.

  48. ✧How They Discovered Their SHSL/Ultimate: [They had to discover their talent somehow after all!]: One night, when Kasumi was only eight years old, her mother had hired a baby-sitter to watch over her while she was working her night shift in a factory. Sadly, the baby-sitter wanted something "fun" to do and called up her friends, taking Kasumi along with them, going for a midnight stroll through the forest that Kasumi's father had hung himself in. Wanting to go home, she couldn't do so because she wasn't old enough to have a phone and her home sweet home was miles and miles away. Forced to stay with them, she tried to keep her babysitter, Sayuri, and the group of her friends in a group. But they ditched her in favor of playing "Hide n Seek" in the forest. This is where Kasumi would have her first panic attack. Because it was so dark, and the full moon being her only way of light, she ran around the forest to find the group she was with, crying. Suddenly, she trips and falls, heightening her anxiety and panic. Then, out of nowhere, she hears a voice calling out her name. Slowly turning around, she sees her father, Juzo, as a ghost. Bruises from his neck still remaining, he kept calling out to her. Obviously freaking out, she squeezes her eyes shut and covers her ears, not wanting to hear the ghost speak. More and more spirits were beginning to rise and call out to her over and over again until finally, when she opened her eyes, several spirits were around her, begging for her help. Asking who the ghosts were or what they were, they rejoiced, including her father, for they had a Medium to talk through. Her father had explained that something had taken over him the night she was born, an evil yet unknown aura possessing him, this being punishment for tampering with demons and the occult when he was a little boy. Juzo wanted to sacrifice his own life for the sake of his small family, wanting Kasumi to live. He wasn't sure why the demon had come back to take him into limbo after all these years, but he predicted because he was starting the family. He was thankful that his wife didn't have the curse of the talent, but warned his living daughter to tred carefully and to be careful which spirits to speak to. Kasumi didn't speak a word of this to her mother for several years.

  50. Fast forwarding to a more mature, yet still learning the ways of being a proper Medium and use her powers carefully, a sixteen year old Kasumi was unexpectedly greeted by the demon who had killed her father. Wanting to contact her father once again in the forest she had visited several years before hand, she was greeted by an unpleasant and evil soul. The Slasher, an infamous serial killer in the 1970's, was the one who had possessed and forced Kasumi's father to kill himself. Trying everything she could to undo what she had just done, the demon was too strong. He had threatened that he would destroy her life and do the same thing to her mother as he did to her father, making her alone with no family left. Out of options and running out of time, Kasumi offered herself up as a sacrifice to save her mother from torment. The murderer possessed Kasumi and inwardly decided that she could live. However, there came a price. An equivalent exchange. Finding a dirty and rusty silver spoon that possibly a picnic group had left behind, he made Kasumi spoon out her right eye. Obviously no scissors, she had to yank the optic nerve out of her head. Successful, yet strangely, the murderer had carefully maneuvered and walked to the ER, leaving her body, Kasumi finally felt the pain she was shut out of and screamed, immediately fainting. Why her eye? Well, Kasumi would also like to know. But she would never, ever ask him directly. Scarred for the rest of her life because of this unfortunate event, her introvert lifestyle had only gotten worse. She was forced to explain to her mother what had really happened and what she has been researching this whole time. Losing all of her positive energy she had left in her, her mother became a heart-broken, sad doll. The occasional small, sad smile to her daughter, but she was in infinite despair. There was no way she could deny or question what had happened. However, despite all of the traumatic and misfortunate events, she persued and continued on with her talent, becoming the Ultimate Medium.
