	Talia Destine was born with a metaphorical silver spoon in her mouth. She's the only child of Dominique Destine, chair of the board of Stélenuit Ltd, an Earth biotech corp. Talia had been groomed to follow in her mother's footsteps, to inherit her stock and with it her position, but six years ago, a hostile takeover began and she became a vulnerability. Her mom sent her into hiding on Grand Cross. When the takeover succeeded Dominique bought into several smaller companies, trying to rebuild an empire worthy of the Destine name. Meanwhile Talia was cooling her heels in space on a limited supply of mommy's money.
	Talia has gotten into code-cracking and gig work to make ends meet. She feels like she's no good at properly being working-class — she knows but doesn't grok that corners must be cut, that nobody on a working-class budget can be good at being working-class. She's a cyber-sheep who doesn't understand she's no longer a cyber-wolf.

	Talia is light-skinned enough — and her eyes round enough — to pass for white, although next to her mom she's noticeably darker. She's on the tall side, with a bit of pudge, since she doesn't have time to exercise like she used to. Her hair is black, cut shoulder-length, usually wavy from a curling iron, and styled to look casually entropic. Her cyberretinas make her pupils look like the blackest black that ever blacked, thus making her brown irises look lighter in comparison. Her cyberears are cat ears, atop her head, made of slick black implast, but they don't exactly blend in with her hair. Even with the RGB LEDs off. On gigs she usually runs indigo. (The rainbow sweep and throb patterns aren't really her style.)

	Talia owns a very small apartment, intended for the help in that hab block, in the back streets of Shin Umeda. She bought it with part of the money her mom gave her when setting her up on Grand Cross, and taxes are cheaper than rent.
	Rather than get a bigger space she's nicely outfitted this small space. The living room is basically a dining nook with kitchen facilities, although the closest it gets to counter space is the table. The bedroom is a hacker cave built around a double bed that dominates the room; instead of having a computer chair, she sits on the edge of her bed. Etc.
