Background : [I wasn’t really sure what kind of background to go for, so I hope this fits the world!]
Jordan’s parents moved to Canada soon after they got married. They were both hybrids (his father a half-blood panther/caracal and his mother a pureblood gray wolf), and didn’t feel safe in South Korea (where they both grew up). It was shortly after Jordan’s sister Isabella was born that his mother got a job as an intern at a large pharmaceutical laboratory. As she began to work her way up to being the secretary for the CEO, a feat that took her six years, she began to discover that they had been testing on hybrids and that they were earning a lot of their money from the black market selling of hybrids. Disgusted as she was, she decided to stay with the company, believing that it’ll be easier for her to keep her family safe. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer, right? In this case, pretty much.
    Jordan was fourteen when his mother heard word that the company was running out of hybrids in the area, and was planning to take advantage of their many hybrid employees. They had to leave in the middle of the night. Why they were leaving wasn’t explained to Jordan until they were in the car, crossing the border to the US. He remembers his seven year old sister snoring lightly on his shoulder and how the passport with a new name for him was flashing in and out of focus with every streetlight they passed. He had grown up knowing that he was different and that it could be dangerous, but he never really knew just how dangerous it really is until that night.
    They ended up in Manhattan. Although his parents tried to make things go back to normal, there was always that constant sense of danger lingering in the background. Whenever his parents gave him advice or taught him how to do something (how to cook, how appearing confident made someone more likely to respect you), there was an underlying tone of urgency and seriousness, as if they were preparing him to a hard life or for a time when his parents wouldn’t be around.
    And they were. Jordan’s mother hadn’t simply quit the company. She had made copies of important documents. Papers that proved what they were doing behind the scenes, names and addresses of people involved. In the year they were in New York, she was preparing a case and they were earning money to move to a hybrid-loving country in order to feel safe enough to present the evidence to their government in an attempt to see the company destroyed.
    It took the company a year to discover she had copied documents and another six months to track down the Choi, now Khani, family. And, when they did, it wasn’t pretty. The company was rich, and wasn’t shy of illegal actions.
    Jordan was coming home late from school one day, so he wasn’t around to watch as his parents ran around the house, collecting what belongings they deemed necessary to take with them. They had just gotten word from one of Jordan’s mother’s friends who had stayed at the company that mercenaries were being sent after them. Because they didn’t know what time Jordan would be home, they closed the curtains of the attic window. This was a signal they had decided on when they first moved in. It meant that they were in danger and needed to meet in the woods nearby. Jordan had had it drilled into him to look for that curtain every time he turned the corner onto their street.
Usually, he would be too far away from the house to draw any attention should he see the curtain and turn to walk the other way. What they didn’t account for in their many plans was that Jordan would be with his friends, who were a very loud bunch and who’s laugher tended to echo. Although he managed to get away from his friends that night (claiming to have forgotten to pick up milk like his mom asked him to) the people who were watching their house noticed him.
    He had barely met up with his parents in the forest when the first shot was fired. It hit his mother in the shoulder, but she was still able to keep pace with them as they ran deeper into the forest.
    His parents had guns as well, and, even though they killed as many of the laboratories mercenaries as they could, they, along with Jordan’s little sister, were still killed that night. His parents had told him to keep running, and not look back. And that’s what he did. He didn’t look back as his family members were shot. He just kept running.
    And he’s always been running. He knows that, at any moment, the laboratory might find him and try to finish what they tried to that night. They’ve found him in the past, and there have been multiple close calls, but he’s still alive. He doesn’t really know why they’re still coming after him. He knows his parents didn’t tell him everything. At the time, he was grateful, because he truly didn’t want to know all of the gruesome and horrific details about the company, but now he wants to know why his parents are killed and why they’re still after him. He only knows that they left because the company was experimenting on and selling hybrids, but he doesn’t know about what his mother was planning to do or that the company believes she gave him the documents to take with him. In that aspect, they’re not wrong. His mother had copies of the documents and her notes on made and hid them in the bindings of a book she gave to Jordan. It was his favorite book growing up and, although he still has it, he has yet to discover the papers.
    He’s been on the run ever since that night. Although he was only fifteen when he became an orphan, his parents had left him a moderate amount of emergency money in the emergency backpack they gave to him in the forest, so he wasn’t completely on his own. He knew how to scam people and to pickpocket, and so he did. He managed to keep himself alive, travelling from city to city like some lost wanderer from a storybook.
    During the days, he would spend time in various libraries, trying to make up for the fact that he could no longer attend a school. At night, he began to go to nightclubs, as intoxicated people were easy to steal from. He already had a fake ID presenting him as 21 that his parents had made for him, so all he had to do was fix his hair and walk to the bouncer confidently in order to be allowed in.
    Since that night, he gets the worst nightmares whenever he sleeps longer than a few hours, so, he rarely sleeps, choosing instead to spend his time travelling or exploring or around people. He doesn’t like to stay anywhere for too long. He gets antsy, feeling as though a mercenary is right around the corner, waiting for him to pause, so they can have to perfect opportunity to strike.

Personality : The word “beautiful” is an understatement when it comes to Jordan. It is the first words that pops into anyone’s mind the moment they see him, but they dismiss the thought as quickly as it comes, decided it is not strong enough a word to even consider in his presence. A single word from him can leave even the most clear of mind stumbling over their words.
    While his unearthly good looks catch one’s attention, the rush one gets simply looking at him keeps it. He mesmerizes those who meet his eyes, leaving them feeling as though if they keep looking, they’ll get lost in the mystery shrouding him, never to swim their way back to the surface of being sane. But, the subtle hum of danger calls from the back of their minds, and they fear that, the moment they look away, the moment they break eye contact with him, he’ll attack.
    This all happens in the time less than a second he meets someone’s eye. Jordan appears to everyone disinterested, as if he is a king, surveying his subjects, but not really interested in joining their peasant games.
    In a way, he does have this kinglike attitude to him. He does acknowledge his beauty and the power he has over others. Although many recognize that his has the right to be, he can be quite arrogant. This is also where his alpha tendencies shine through. He sees himself as that king people treat him like.
    But don’t overestimate him. He’s not the “leader” type. He’s much too selfish for that. He’s not “selfish” with a negative connotation, per se. He’s more of self-preserving. He will protect himself first and foremost. This “lone wolf” aspect does apply to him in many ways. He has learned to find comfort and security in running on his own rules, and tends to conflict with whatever authority figure tries to tell him off. He’s a person who greatly values his independence, and isn’t one to take orders from anyone. He’ll happily speak up to anyone who tries to tell him what he can, can’t, or must do. He can be very territorial and will gladly tell off anyone who tries to infringe on his territory (he considers his independence a part of this).
    He loves going to whatever nightclubs he comes across. Jordan secretly enjoys the attention he gets. He’ll spend the first bit of his time there, simply observing the people there until he decides his target for the night. Although he doesn’t act like it, he does notice the envious looks that get thrown at the person he approaches, and it only strengthens his confidence.
    Jordan isn’t the type of guy to immediately jump from buying someone a drink to “come home with me.” He prefers to actually talk with whoever he’s with, because he’s very choosy in his company. He can’t stand people who seem to have no mind to them or ones that have minds filled only with lust.
    And it’s not always sex that he uses partiers for. Depending on their personalities, he may take them just out. Out of the club, the city, out of reality for a while. Whether it’s breaking into a tall building to sit on the roof and just watch the city (among other things, if you know what I mean) or going to explore old ruins, he’ll take them on a ride, and then leave them completely lost (mentally, not actually) in the morning, unable to decide if that night even happened. Jordan isn’t one for sticking around. Being around him or seeing him is a one time thing.
    This is all because he’s afraid. He doesn’t want to make attachments, to get close, because he doesn’t want to deal with the pain of losing people or of hurting others. He’s been through it all before, and he doesn’t want to relive that or for himself to have to relive that.
    Honestly, the people he chooses to take on an adventure (so, no sex) are people who have some kind of flaw or insecurity. He doesn’t even know how he chooses them, it’s just something that draws him to them. He wants to give them a moment of fun, of adrenaline. Even if it’s just for one night, he knows that it’s doing something to help them. He truly does want to help people, but he doesn’t know how to.
    The time spent in clubs and wondering around with the nightlife is honestly to avoid his own thoughts and his nightmares. He hasn’t really processed fully that he’s lost his family. He had to run so quickly, and he’s been running ever since. He doesn’t know how to face his own emotions or a difficult situation aside from running away from it. If he keeps going, then he doesn’t have to deal with his problems, right?
    Part of him (the part he keeps locked up with booze and warm bodies in his bed) craves that mental break. He wants to be able to face his fears and to get over them, but he’s so deeply afraid to do that. He wants to have someone he can trust with everything, but he doesn’t want to get hurt. And he knows that he will get hurt if something happens to someone he cares about. If he decides to let someone get emotionally close to him, he will develop an incredibly strong bond with that person, being overly protective and attached to them.

How do they act around their love interest? : As with everyone, he would try to distance himself at first. He would begin to try to spend more time with them or to be around them and his mind would think of them first for a while before he realized it. And when he did, he would panic. He would try to cut off all ties with them, because he doesn’t want to get close and then have something happen. But, no matter what happened, he would be drawn back to them. The part of him that desires someone to trust and to be able to rely on would take control, and he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from spending time with them. Once it got comfortable around them, which would take a hell of a long time, he would slowly tell them everything. They would have to be patient with him, because he wouldn’t be able to tell them all of it at once, but he would eventually put his complete trust in them and finally stop bearing the burden he’s held onto for so long, both by being able to talk to someone else and to face it all himself. Once he realizes he can trust them, the waterfall of emotions he’s been hiding would finally spill over.
