junghwa was born with a silver spoon in -- her family is intelligent, influential and wealthy. her father's one of the richest businessmen in seoul and her mother owns the top hospital in the city. you can imagine all the wealth junghwa's provided with since she was young.

but was she happy with all the cash and toys? nope.

what made her happy when she was a kid was the rare occassions when she got to climb onto her dad's lap or when she got to tell her mother about her day at school. her parents had always been too busy for her; they treated her kindly, but they were so estranged from each other that the maids and driver knew junghwa better than her own parents. she's an only child so she's been lonely since a very young age. the head maid, ms song, pretty much raised her and they're very close to each other, from then until now. although she won't trade ms song for the world, there's still an emptiness in heart that her parents left. it hurt her even more to see that her parents were too busy for each other as well; she always feared that they'd get a divorce.

prior to high school, she was a very obedient and good daughter. she always listened to her parents' demands like taking up extra classes to improve her already incredible grades even if she's too tired to do so. she sacrificed her interest in dancing to obey her parents; all this in her hopes that they'd become a closer family.

   [ FIRST LOVE ]
when junghwa was 15, her parents-induced loneliness was treated by myungjun, her cheerful and good-natured school senior. after bumping into each other in school, they became really close friends and it was only a matter of time before they grew feelings for each other. they were happy together, such a cute couple that all their friends believed were going to get married once the time was right. junghwa didn't mean to keep their relationship a secret from her parents -- they were the ones who didn't have the time to listen to their daughter's stories.

they finally found out during the holidays right before junghwa's first day of high school when one of her mother's friends spotted her and myungjun out on a date. with fake smiles, junghwa's parents invited myungjun over for dinner to "get to know him better". after a dinner where junghwa's parents obviously disapproved and myungjun gave up on trying to get them to like him, her parents confronted junghwa once he left, telling her that he wasn't up to their standards. junghwa, still an obedient daughter, simply nodded in understanding and went to sleep with tears in her eyes.

around a week later, myungjun stopped replying to junghwa's texts and didn't answer her calls. frantically worried, she meets him and with clear pain in his eyes, he tells her that he can't do it anymore. he tells her how much he loves her, how much he wants to be with her but he can't for her sake, how much he's sorry. with a final kiss and hug, he breaks up with her painfully, leaving the both of them heartbroken.

she needn't ask, she knew it was her parents' work. for the first time in her lifetime, she exploded at her parents.

"how could you do this to me? what right do you have to do this to me?"

"what right? child, we are your parents! we know what's best for you!"

"do you, now? you don't even know what's my favourite colour, do you really think you know what's best for me and what isn't? he made me happy, he gave me more love than the two of you have ever given me and you take that all away because of your own selfish reasons?!"

thus, the last of obedient junghwa. after several days of mourning and refusing to even look at her parents, she began talking to them but not in the sweet way they expected. she became who she is now: rebellious, mischevious, troublesome. this is the personality that she started high school with and this is the personality that she's comfortable with. it gives her satisfaction every time the principal has to call either one of her parents to report her misbehaving; now they have time for me. she purposely gets into trouble for two reasons; one reason known to her and the other reason she hasn't realised. she wants revenge and unknowingly to her own self, she stirs up mischief to get the attention from her parents she's always craved for. her parents know that it's their fault junghwa turned out like this; they've tried a soft approach, they've tried a stern approached, but neither worked. they tried to mend their ties with their daughter but it was too late: it seems that junghwa had given up on them.

the tables have turned; now it's her parents who are yearning for junghwa's time and attention. the only times she talks to them is when she wants something like more money to her back account and when she gets into trouble and they try to consult her about it. of course, the latter always ends in disaster. junghwa believes that her heart has hardened for her parents, but she doesn't know that once she meets a boy named taehyung, she'll realise that her heart will never be tough enough to resist her parents.

after their daughter's drastic change, her parents decided to begin attending marriage counseling (junghwa doesn't know), hoping that they'd know how to fix their family. after all, they still love each other and their daughter -- it's just that they aren't good at expressing their love and both are too focussed on their careers to spend time on their family.
at school, no matter how bad her reputation is, no matter how many pranks she pulls, no matter how many rules she breaks, the teachers can't hate her even if they try. she may be a troublemaker but she's the smartest girl in class whose results give the teachers a good name. she may be a naughty rebel, but she is never disrespectful in class when lessons are going on. she'll talk back to any teacher if they reprimand her outside the classroom, but inside, she'll be the most well-behaved student there is. the teachers are really thankful to her for this. on her really good days, she'd even be in the mood to help her teachers carry their stuff to their office.

about myungjun, the scars on her heart remain though she has moved on over him. she doesn't blame him, she never will. she knows he was as heartbroken as he was. but she hasn't been able to look at another boy since him; her heart hasn't completely healed for anything new... at least she thinks.

youngmin isn't a man of words, but his actions don't reflect his emotions that well either. he loves his only daughter more than anything yet he just can't seem to prove it to her. he's stern and has quite a short temper junghwa loves to test. they fight nearly everyday; the only time they're able to have a civilised conversation is when youngmin makes an awkward effort of asking junghwa how she's doing. junghwa would give short replies and leave before youngmin can ask any more. youngmin always makes sure junghwa has more than enough in her bank account and without her knowing, he checks on her while she's already sleeping every night without fail.

junghwa has a far better relationship with her mother, though they aren't close. after the myungjun incident, her mother has made a lot of effort to strengthen their relationship and junghwa actually commits to it when she wants to. for example, shopping together and making small talk. it's still awkward, but minhee now shows that she cares for her daughter and has started remembering the small details about junghwa. they don't really fight; minhee always lets junghwa have the last say and when her husband and daughter are fighting, she'll usually take junghwa's side, even if she doesn't really agree with junghwa's choices/requests.

jiwoo is who junghwa shares everything with; jiwoo knows junghwa inside out. jiwoo has been taking care of junghwa from the day she was born and has acted more like a mother to her than minhee ever has. jiwoo is the only person junghwa would listen to without hesitation and junghwa is very spoilt with jiwoo; some nights, she'd leave her room and go to sleep beside jiwoo in the maid's room downstairs. the only thing that junghwa won't listen to jiwoo about is her parents; she's so hardheaded that nobody can give her a slap strong enough for her to stop her ego and just fall into her parents' ready embrace. junghwa used to call jiwoo "mama" when younger.

kang junghwa is someone you definitely would not want to mess with. she's no regina george, but be careful not to cross her. her angelic face doesn't reflect her attitude in any way. she isn't evil and she isn't a goody-two-shoes either, yet if you do one wrong thing to her, expect her to never ever forgive you for it.

junghwa's notorious for being "bad" doesn't mean that she's a bully, although her strong attitudes of confidence and somewhat snobby-like manners, seems that she's the school's hottest troublemaker. she's a risktaker, rules are made for her to break. she's rebellious and she does only what she wants; if you're in charge, you'd be lucky to have her listen to you. she's fearless -- she's afraid of nothing, she can go against any person and any challenge. she has a passion for the rush of adrenaline; hence, she loves doing stuff that have a possibility of getting into trouble. being mischevious too, she always has tricks up her sleeves. she enjoys causing problems, she enjoys driving people insane. she's playful and finds fun in doing things she's not supposed to.

the times that she's caught and is to be reprimanded, she won't ever stay silent. she'll always have something to answer, be it with sincerity or sarcasm. she's argumentative; she won't settle down without a fight until she gets the final say. she's extremely confident and obsessive and it shows in the way she talks, the way she walks, the way she dresses. she's physically, mentally and emotionally a strong person -- she doesn't let things get to her easily, even if she truly cares about what shade of lipstick she is wearing today or if the boy down the hall saw the way she glanced at him. she's not one to give up and she stays true to herself even if she's hated for it. she's as reckless as she is confident; she doesn't think, she just does. she doesn't like to worry about the consequences, she prefers to live in the moment.

with this stregth, junghwa is a pretty aggressive person. she can get involved in a physical fight against a man and isn't scared to get hurt (big chance she'll win the battle anyways). during arguments, she outwardly speaks her mind even if her words will scar the other party's feelings. she prefers to be honest and let people know what she really thinks. she may be hurtful, but at least she isn't fake.

her personality causes her to be unapproachable and intimidating to most, especially since she isn't the most friendly of people after all, but best believe that once you get into her good books, you'll never be alone as she'll always have your back. she isn't clingy but she's there if you need her. she's loyal, she'll stay by your side through the toughest times and though she isn't one who's good with giving advice, she'll make you feel like you have all the support in the world. if someone she loves gets hurt, the person responsible will get payback from junghwa and trust me, the person will never hurt another soul ever again.

and even though she has this somewhat 'bad girl', 'snobby' image, junghwa is actually extremely indecisive. she tends to find it hard to trust others, hard to fall for others because of her past and how her last relationship turned out. so if she was on the verge of a fresh relationship, she would simply not know what to do, follow her heart or follow her past?

she isn't "bad bad", she's just "fun bad". don't be too scared of her -- she's someone you can befriend. she doesn't open up easily but she would never reject an attempt at friendship. she isn't cold or arrogant. it's just that... you have to be very, very careful.

an anime character brought to life, kim taehyung is a person you won't be able to forget. he's handsome, charming and his personality will make you feel like you've known him all your life. though he's part of the wealthy elites, he is far from materialistic or status-oriented (the opposite of junghwa). he's loud, friendly and basically a warm person to be around -- he has a great sense of humour, he's full of energy and he loves having fun. he has a lot of love in his heart and rather than comforting someone who's down, he'll whip up some crazy antics to cheer the person up. he comes off to be extremely playful and immature but don't be fooled, he has his serious side too.

his serious side comes out only when he's angry -- he's especially sensitive to family, friends and animals. once he's furious, his deep voice will scare the life out of you. he will say all that he wants and he will make you listen to him. he doesn't have a short temper but touch on those three things and this ray of sunshine will turn into the darkest thunderstorm you'll ever encounter.

at first glance taehyung was one of junghwa's favourite anime characters, to her he was the real thing, but to be completely honest she was so off her face he could be an ugly elderly man and she wouldn't have even noticed. but whom ever this guy was, not that she really knew that he was an idol at that time, he was cute, and she liked the way he didn't judge her for her anime obsession.

taehyung was confused to say the least. he was attracted to her though, strongly, and he found her funny how she could get so goddamn emotional over a show. although, he didn't really know at the time if her calling him hikari sakishima was a compliment or not.

since was she was off. her. face drunk, she was basically the epitome of a mess when around him in the beginning. she was emotional, reckless and extremely delicate and she didn't even know why. she didn't even know why he didn't judge her for her liking towards fictional anime characters. it was all weird to her, but her drunken mind couldn't process any of that.

taehyung was slightly insignificant to junghwa when sober, like he was just there, around her. when sober she went back to her normal ways, slightly snobby, overly confident, extremely indecisive, and she noticed the way how taehyung was shocked by her true attitudes, but it was like she didn't care, it wasn't like they were ever really friends, right?

when taehyung finally admitted his feelings towards her she didn't know what to do. sure she wasn't expecting it, i mean she was never the nicest person towards him, but in realty she couldn't let herself hurt over a boy once again, so she held herself back and disappeared for a few weeks, like in thin air. in reality maybe junghwa never really knew the true definition of love from her past relationship.

from first glance junghwa has left a great impact on taehyung since the first time he laid eyes on her. he found it adorable how she swooned over anime characters, and the thought of it would place his famous boxy smile on his face. to be honest in the beginning taehyung thought she was an angel, she was so down to earth and delicate, even in her drunken state, he didn't even begin to think about how she truly was when sober.

it wasn't until when they really saw each other where he realised hoW GODDAMN INTIMIDATING SHE WAS. like he was nervous to speak up because she was so confident, and slightly snobby, and he didn't realise that this was the same girl he saw drunk crying over anime. it was like that side of her was completely gone. he still found her attractive sure, but he really did miss the other junghwa deep down, but thus he continued to put up with her bullshit, and he didn't even know why himself. or maybe he did but thus did not want to admit it to himself.

in the end taehyung admits to liking her, he believed he had a crush on her because of the way he felt and the fact that he would continue to stick around for her even after she was rude towards him. so one night, in front of the boys and the girls, he just openly says it, silencing the room and confusing everyone, but in the end she just walks out, leaving for weeks only to return a different person.. maybe he never knew what liking someone was like either?
