- Dear Direwolf20
- Your reactor is... less than efficient, to say the least. With just a tiny bit of effort it could be solved.
- NOTE: Due to configuration of the Direwolf20 modpack, all fuel usage values presented below must be multiplied by 8 (and corresponding efficiency values divided by 8). Simulations use default configs for easy comparison
- Here's your reactor (tuned to it's peak efficiency setting, rounded to nearest multiple of 2000mB/t): http://br.sidoh.org/#reactor-design?length=5&width=5&height=7&activelyCooled=true&controlRodInsertion=34&layout=6OXLX2OLXL2OXLX6O&modpack=defaults
- And here is the same size reactor, with a tiny change (tuned the same way):
- Note the extra steam for one more turbine you get for free - by only adding 4 buckets of resonant ender (material calculations assume filling the reactor with source blocks, while flowing blocks work just as well - a bucket in the top center block of each side is plenty to fill the reactor as presented)
- With a little more tweaking (still keeping the original exterior size)
- 2 more turbines extra, while increasing the efficiency yet again (Most important number is the first one, in mB/mB)
- Now, if you want to use turbines, why not use full set of 25 (the maximum one reactor can power with current version of BigReactors):
- http://br.sidoh.org/#reactor-design?length=21&width=21&height=46&activelyCooled=true&controlRodInsertion=98&layout=3OG13EG6O15G6OG3CG5CG3CG3O4G3CG5CG3C4GEG2C3XG5XG3X2CG2EG2CXGXGXGXGXGXGX2CG2EG2C3XG5XG3X2CGE21GEG2C3XG5XG3X2CG2EG2CXGXGXCXCXGXGX2CG2EG2C3XGXCGCXG3X2CG2EG2CXGXGXCXCXGXGX2CG2EG2C3XG5XG3X2CGE21GEG2C3XG5XG3X2CG2EG2CXGXGXGXGXGXGX2CG2EG2C3XG5XG3X2CGE4G3CG5CG3C4G3OG3CG5CG3CG6O15G6OG3EG5EG3EG3O&modpack=defaults
- (While in this design the flowing ender trick still works, cryotheum is a different beast - the reactor must be filled with source blocks due to them flowing as far down as possible. Graphite walls separate the fluids, allowing for easy filling without worrying about fluids mixing)
- Increasing the fuel usage just 3 times from your current reactor, you get over 8 times more energy: 700kRF/t (assuming turbines with 32 blocks of Ludacrite as coils).
- Bonus feature of that reactor is that it already runs with control rods inserted by 98% - there is no point in further tuning to load, it's either on or off, depending on the status of energy buffer. (It can technically run at 50% load with control rods inserted by 99%, but it would reduce the efficiency).
- I hope you will read this and bring your BigReactor build quality to the level you present using other mods.
- PS. And if you want to squeeze every last bit of power out of your yellorium, you can always make a full size (32x48x32) reactor:
- http://br.sidoh.org/#reactor-design?length=30&width=30&height=46&activelyCooled=true&controlRodInsertion=99&layout=4OG19EG9OG19EG9O21G9OG19CG5O5G19C6G2EG2C3XC3XC3XC3XC3X2CG5EG2CXGXCXGXCXGXCXGXCXGX2CG5EG2C3XC3XC3XC3XC3X2CG5EG23CG5EG2C3XC3XC3XC3XC3X2CG5EG2CXGXCXGXCXGXCXGXCXGX2CG5EG2C3XC3XC3XC3XC3X2CG5EG9C5G9CG5EG2C3XC3XGXEXG3XC3X2CG5EG2CXGXCXGXG3EGXGXCXGX2CG5EG2C3XC3XGXEXG3XC3X2CG5EG9C5G9CG5EG2C3XC3XC3XC3XC3X2CG5EG2CXGXCXGXCXGXCXGXCXGX2CG5EG2C3XC3XC3XC3XC3X2CG5EG23CG5EG2C3XC3XC3XC3XC3X2CG5EG2CXGXCXGXCXGXCXGXCXGX2CG5EG2C3XC3XC3XC3XC3X2CG3E5G19C6G4OG19CG9O21G9OG19EG9OG19EG9OG19EG5O&modpack=defaults
