  1. [17:06] What a long trip from Dusk to Huangzhou. If there was any way to speed up the process the young woman would gladly take it. She had to be careful, too, carrying that old fashioned kettle and wanting to keep it without a bit of damage was a task of its own.

  3. Eventually Rindou did manage to get back 'home', eyes scanning the area as she walked around the square, looking for someone.

  7. [17:07] Calista Shimasu says, "Hello Rindou."
  8. [17:07] Rindou Sakamoto says, "Oh, hey, Calista."
  9. [17:07] Rindou Sakamoto says, "How a-"

  11. [17:08] Calista Shimasu asks, "What?"
  12. [17:08] Calista Shimasu asks, "Something on my face?"
  13. [17:08] Rindou remains silent, staring at those wings.

  20. [17:09] Calista Shimasu asks, "Wanna talk about it..? Whatever it is?"
  21. [17:12] Rindou thinks about that proposition, long and hard. She still was under the shock of seeing something she never thought was possible. Why were those wings there? Why did she look like that? How could it happen?

  23. It made Calista a monster, too, didn't it?

  25. Why would she do something like that?

  27. The Illuminated didn't answer the Shimasu's question ultimately. Her hands fell a bit weak, dropping the kettle in her grasp onto the ground. The damage to it was probably going to ruin it all, both in beauty and utility.

  29. Rindou moved north without a word.

  33. [17:14] The kettle falls.. likely the gift she'd asked for.. but regardless. She ignores it and moves to follow. She wasn't sure what was wrong with her, but it looked kind of serious.

  37. As she walks those same wings tend to flutter every so often.

  41. [17:16] Calista Shimasu says, "Stop.."
  42. [17:16] Calista Shimasu asks, "What is it?"
  43. [17:16] Rindou Sakamoto says, "..."
  44. [17:16] Rindou Sakamoto says, "Leave me alone already."
  45. [17:19] Rindou shifted, turning around to face Calista with a red tinge on her face and water begining to build up in her eyes. She wasn't even sure why she was so emotional over the situation, but the young Illuminated could hardly keep her mind at rest.

  47. "You're just like him, aren't you? You don't need me— I don't need that in my life. Go. Have fun. Enjoy your family. Enjoy your bloodline. Enjoy what you have."

  55. Her wings.. her father.. she didn't like them..? She could see the emotions in the other woman's eyes those things she didn't feel. The things she so wanted to.

  57. Rindou was.. breaking things off..? Because of what she was, who she was..?

  59. "...Fine.. I will. Just remember you did this.. I wouldn't care if you were a Vampire or worse."

  61. She turns, the slightest ebb of something akin to sadness and rejection felt.. a crack in her shell..? She turns to return to Huangzhou.

  67. Rindou's teeth came to a grit. Her fists clenched up, both from the words that had been said and the emotions constantly building up within her heart.

  69. "I did this?! I wasn't the one born in that family! I'm not the one a whole settlement voted for. I'm not the one with angel wings here— I just wanted a chance, Calista!"

  71. She stepped up closer, opening up her heart.

  73. "I wanted to be able to have someone by my side no matter what. I wanted to have a friend. I wanted to have someone who'd fall in love with me— someone good enough for me to fall for!

  75. I wanted to be strong."

  77. She was a few feet away from the other at that point.
  78.  
  79. "But you don't understand that. You can't understand that. You've always had it all. You don't have to hide who you are, or pretend you're someone else for people to like you. Your friends don't abandon you. You're more than just barely useful enough for other people."

  81. More emotions had to be poured out. More than what she really wanted to show.

  83. "I thought.. there would be a chance. I thought someone would look at me the way Caira looks at Adrian; she's not even able to notice anything else going on around her."

  85. The crux of it all was finally spoken.

  87. "How am I supposed to make up for those wings?"
  88. (Rindou Sakamoto)

  91. [17:46] She was getting angry, that was after all the problem. She can't understand. Those ebon feathered appendages spread wide the small wings growing into a larger wingspan.

  93. She faces Rindou,
  94.  
  95. "You basically tell me to fuck off for claiming my birthright, my ancestry... You want so much from someone, yet one of the best moments of my life and you instantly reject it, reject me because of what it may mean."

  97. Whatever crack had formed was worsening, she turns away once more.
  98.  
  99. "When you figure out if you can want me for what I am let me know, I'll consider it."
  100.  
  101. With great flaps those wings would carry the Regent back towards Huangzhou… she needed to get away before something worse happened.

  103. Though one thing was apparent, she was hurt.

  107. [17:52] "Reject you?!"

  109. I don't deserve you.
  110. "I don't deserve you."

  112. The thoughts she normally held back were spilling out without any filter to them. A wounded heart, though not one born from heartbreak but something completely different: Jealousy. The next words she uttered were the very same ones she had said six years prior.

  114. "You shouldn't associate with people who aren't on the same level as you."
  115.  
  116. Where Calista's shell may have cracked up a bit, Rindou's own vulnerability was put on full display as she watched those wings flap. As she watched how cruel reality was - yet again proving that she was nothing compared to her friends.
