  1. The Rovers (Greys/LGMs)
  2. The most iconic aliens in Earth’s culture are small, bulbous-headed creatures with flat noses, black almond-shaped eyes, short limbs, and incredible intelligence. This description is fairly standard across mass media, and for one simple reason- it’s accurate. The Rovers have been stopping by on Earth for over 2000 years, as part of their never-ending pilgrimage across the cosmos. Most spacefaring races say that their first contact was with a Rover tourist- This is not a surprising fact, since on top of being avid tourists, Rovers are the most populous species in the Milky Way. The two most common ethnicities are colloquially referred to as "Greys" and "Little Green Men."
  3.
  4. Most Rovers are Greys or Little Green Men. They dress in local fashion- though it may be anywhere from 2 to 30 years out of date. The first thing a Rover will do at any space port is sample the local foods, then the tourist stops, then whatever they set out to do in the first place. It’s not uncommon for Rovers to become Cybernauts to save on travel expenses.

  8. The Sweepers (Bug People)
  9. The Sweepers are a race of insectoids with naturally occurring radio apparatuses in their skulls that they use for communication. They have compact torsos and long limbs, with rounded heads and thick carapaces which range in color from ash white and sandy brown to vibrant metallic reds. When atomic warfare decimated their homeworld, they were left to orally reconstruct their history. Using their natural radio apparati, they communicated what they remembered of their history to each other across tremendous distances. Among the most influential, important parts of their history were stories of hard-boiled detectives on rainy city streets, noble knights defending castles and rescuing damsels from fire-breathing dragons, and daring-do among the stars. Indeed, these tales tales were so frequently repeated that they have become central to the reconstructed culture of the Sweeper.
  10.
  11. Of course, these transmissions were not part of their history- rather, they were radio broadcasts from earth that made their way into deep space. The Sweepers do not seem to mind- three generations have grown up learning the mannerisms of knights in shining armor, snarling mobsters, wisecracking detectives, evil wizards, and space adventurers. These tailor their speech and fashion- it’s not any more uncommon to see a Sweeper dressed in a trenchcoat and bowler hat than one wearing a purple robe and false beard or a suit of plate mail.

  15. The Stewards were purpose-built as a slave race long ago. Created to maintain and operate a vast network of space stations, satellites, and orbital installations, they were born in the void of space, and designed to live there comfortably. However, their creators made two mistakes. Firstly, making the Stewards intelligent creatures with the ability to pass down their knowledge genetically. Secondly, they treated the race responsible for maintaining their infrastructure like industrial equipment, leading them to leave for actual paying work off-world.
  16.
  17. The Stewards have ovoid bodies, with two large forward-facing compound eyes and a small bony beak within their mouth. They have adapted to an environment without gravity, having no legs or feet- only four spindly grasping limbs at 90 degree angles around their body, and nacelles on their rear. They have no genders, as they reproduce via artificial means. Stewards tend to feel strange outside of Zero G, and often have trouble getting their land legs.

  21. The Councilors are a race of machines. Built simply with tubular bodies, round heads, and arms ending in three-fingered magnetic grippers, they stand at exactly two meters tall. Normally, they're a metallic silver polished to a mirror sheen, but frequently paint their bodies. Originally simple mining and labor units, the Councilors were redesigned to be cold, logical, calculating instruments of death by the Master Control Computer. The Master Controller Computer ordered them to exterminate all organic life to make way for a mechanical utopia. However, a long-standing order from their original creators and programming superseded this order: "Complete all tasks using a minimum expenditure of resources and effort." The race stood still for a moment after receiving the order, and proceeded to execute it... by going back to their original tasks. The robots had, as a whole, determined the most efficient means of galaxy-scale genocide was to await the heat death of the universe and let that sort it out.
  22.
  23. That was several hundred years ago. Today the Councilors have evolved their intelligence into true sapience, using their skills in circumventing the orders of the Master Control Computer to become the most feared legal experts in the galaxy. Councilors are drawn to explore by their desire to find a way to eliminate the Master Control Computer- or at least find a way to stop its orders before it figures out one that they can't subvert.
