Danuki Diary - pt 3

    That woman is toying with me, does she take me for a fool? I spent all of today acting as an escort more or less for her. After writing my last entry and heading out the door I was brought to Lady Miyabi, who again after dismissing her maid told me to follow her. I’ll jot some of the conversation that irked me. I’m thankful I have a rather good memory or this would be rather pointless.

“Did you sleep well?” Lady Miyabi asked me.

I couldn’t bring myself to even passing wit, “Yes, I slept...well.” Was all I managed dryly

“Well let’s have breakfast shall we? You have a big day ahead of you,” Her voice as always seemed to be rather pleased, maybe she gets satisfaction out of this? I’ll leave a note for myself here to look for a word for a person who derives their pleasure from other’s suffering.

    The eating arrangements were the same as the night before, again I’m puzzled at why I’m eating with this woman as if we’re equals. I’m essentially property, maybe she wants me to always be reminded of that? Though why have the other help cook two of the same meals? The woman is a mystery to me.

    After breakfast I followed Lady Miyabi out to the front driveway where Matilda and their automobile lay, the polished white paint seemed to shine in the morning light.Matilda’s outfit was the same as last time, a chauffeur's uniform which made her stand out from the other kikimora that wore typical maid dresses.

 I watched as Lady Miyabi produced a map from her purse. “Matilda, we’ll be going to Warehaven please don’t hesitate to consult the map,” she said handing Matilda the folded object.

    Matilda took the map, though looking back she seemed to do so begrudgingly.

“Well then Anon, you’ll be coming with me today!” Lady Miyabi said leading me by the hand, “You have a lot of work ahead of you today.” Her demeanor as usual cheerful though it seems she enjoys teasing me.

    I sat down next to Lady Miyabi, rather than dealing with the situation or even engage I decided to just look out the window and observe the surroundings through the glass. The automobile rocked a bit as Matilda sat down, the vehicle’s suspension system is rather delicate if I had to guess. My world view started to move as the auto moved with it, the view changing from the front entrance to the yard to the countryside as we left the estate.

    During our journey I felt a tap on my shoulder, it was Lady Miyabi. It wasn’t like I had much of a choice, given my situation.

“Anon, you’re a rather quiet man,” she told me with her brow furrowed slightly. “Is something the matter?”

    I shook my head, retaining eye contact. I didn’t quite feel like speaking at that point.

I watched as her expression darkened, “Anon if anything is bothering you please let me know.”

My retort was like the last time I spoke, dry and to the point, “I only wish to carry out whatever assignment I’m going to be given and to be done with it.”

Lady Miyabi’s usual mischevious smile returned to her face as she spoke, “don’t worry Anon there is a very hard task waiting for you I promise you that.”

    Outside that conversation the ride, like most everything, uneventful. As we arrived in Warehaven, Matilda parked us outside a Cafe before she opened the door for Lady Miyabi to exit.

“Now Anon,” Miyabi said as she turned to me. “Your job today is to have lunch with me and then we’ll go shopping and pick you out some nice clothes that is more suitable for a man.”

“This is a joke right?” The discovery of my ‘hard task’ caused me to snap. “I am not something to be toyed with, now tell me what my job really is. I demand to know that much.”

“It’s no joke Anon, that’s your job for today,” Lady Miyabi’s tone becoming concerned.

“I understand Lady Miyabi.” My reply had a hint of venom in it I won’t lie.

    I feel I may have to go onto a 3rd page here, but lunch was eaten in relative silence. After which I followed Lady Miyabi around the town as she made several purchases, some of them actually meant for me like new clothing. As we went from store to store I ended up carrying a vast assortment of odds and ends. We stopped maybe twice to return to the car to load the things bought to store them, I felt bad for Matilda who had it more rough being forced to stand guard. Which is what I thought at first, till we came back for the final time to find her napping. On the ride home Lady Miyabi seemed to fell asleep, I learned this when she leaned on me. Despite my disdain for the woman, she looked peaceful and happy so I let her stay that way till we returned to the estate.

“Lady Miyabi, we've returned,” I said waking her as the auto made it’s final approach towards the estate.

Lady Miyabi seemed to jerk awake,”O-oh I’m sorry Anon I seemed to have nodded off on the ride home.” She said rather apologetically to me which felt awkward to say the least. “I...I didn’t say anything while I slept did I?”

“No Lady Miyabi, well not that I heard anyways.” I replied helping her out of the auto.

    Matilda was already helping to unload the rear of the auto as Lady Miyabi and myself stepped out, Lady’s Miyabi’s maids escorting her inside while I helped Matilda with the new purchases. As I write this entry for tonight a lot of them ended up being for me for some odd reason. I’m much too tired to even think straight, tomorrow is another day in the rest of my life.
