Phoenix

Family/Type: Harpy/Birdman
Habitat: Deserts, Mountainous Regions
Disposition: Devoted, Passionate, Vain
Diet: Carnivorous, Wild Animals, etc.

A rare type of harpy that carries the power of flame within them. Thought to originally be believed to be a shy species, they have proven over time to be devoted in the extremes to their husband. When a human man strikes her fancy, a Phoenix will often ignite in the 'flames of passion' and try to rape or otherwise have sex with him.

Despite tales of their miraculous ability to burn into ash and be reborn from their own cinders, this is an embellishment perpetuated by the Phoenixes themselves. Rather, the fire that permeates throughout their body and plumage revitalizes them, even more so when combined with that of their mate. In this way, caught in the throes of passionate sex, a man and his Phoenix wife will appear as nothing more than shadows within a great pillar of flame. Likewise, even before incubization, men who marry these elusive Harpies enjoy a greatly lengthened lifespan due to the regenerative properties of their flames.

As mentioned before, the mana imbued flames of a Phoenix burn within her like a great, passionate fire-- Only able to be slaked temporarily by the spirit energy of their husband. Many times after sex, their flames will burn far brighter and hotter than normal, causing spectacular displays in their plumage which causes them to seek out even more sex with their mate. Among the most ancient of these harpies, from before time of the current Demon Lord, they appear as if made entirely out of flame.

The shed down of a Phoenix's feathers is a prized material used in pharmacomancy as a healing reagent similar to a Unicorn's horn. Those that have their wounds and ailments healed by magic using a Phoenix Down often times joke about the warmth of flames spreading through them.
