  1. Spider-Man picked up the ringing phone.
  2. "Yea, hi, Aunt May, can I call you ba-"
  3. BAM!
  4. The phone rocketed from Spider-Man's grip and flung across the laboratory as he took another hit from Dr. Octopus, who now had clear access to the computer – and the critically important information it contained.
  5. "HEY! C'mon, Doc, that's just plain rude!" scolded Spider-Man, immediately shooting a strand of web after the phone to catch it, and yanking on the strand to bring the phone back to him.
  6. "Not so fast, Spidey!" Ock said. With lighting quick speed, incredible force, and deadly accuracy, he shot out one of his mechanical tentacle-arms to intercept the web. The strand pulled on the phone and wrapped back on itself, sticking the phone to the tentacle. With the rest of his metal tentacles, he held Spider-Man to the floor with tremendous strength. Raising the metal arm up over his head, Dr. Octopus dragged Spider-Man – still attached to the phone with webbing – towards him, and glared down at him. "You and I have unfinished business."
  7. Spider-Man looked up and winced, bracing for impact.
  8. "Business? What business?” May's voice cut into the silence over speakerphone. “Young man, are you working late again?"
  9. They both looked at the phone, then back to each other. Ock wore a puzzled expression – then his face hardened as he suddenly brought the arm down on Superman's head. At the exact same time, a strand of web shot out, grabbed the metal tentacle, and yanked it to the side. Spider-Man had managed to free one of his hands during the distraction provided by the phone, and used his web to wrap Ock's arm all the way around his body. In a rapid flurry of webs, he proceeded to neutralize each arm – this one webbed to the ceiling, that one to the wall, these two webbed together – and pulled on all the strands hard, bringing the two of them together: himself, up off the floor, his face now inches away from the phone that was still webbed to the tentacle; Dr. Octopus, away from the computer and straight towards Spider-Man.
  10. "Sorry Aunt May, just wrapping things up here! Call you back!" he yelled into the
  11. tentacle-bound phone.
  12. Ock growled, struggling to break free from the webbing. Spider-Man had to hold each strand with all his strength to keep Ock contained.
  13. "You didn't forget about our dinner date again, did you, Peter? 7 o'clock!"
  14. "......Uhhhof course not, Aunt May!" Spidey improvised. "I was just tying up a few loose ends here, be on my way soon, see you then, 7 o'clock, can't wait, love you lots, bye!" and with that, he booped the phone with his nose to end the call. "Phew. Close call, eh, Doc?" Spidey grinned. "Afraid we'll have to pick this up later."
  15. With that, he gripped his phone hard with one hand, pulled on the web strands with the other, and shot both feet into Doc Ocks chest, simultaneously sending Doc back and onto the ground, and pulling himself (and his phone) free. He flipped back the to the ground, looked back, and sent a huge web between them, binding Ock to the floor.
  16. "Sorry I can't hang out! Catch you later!" Spider-Man yelled, already out the door, Ock's howl of anger following him on his way.
  17. Spider-Man stumbled out of the building into the busy evening streets of Manhattan,
  18. his eyes struggling to adjust to the bright exterior, lit up golden by the setting sun. Gotta get home quick, he thought. He had to make it all the way to Queens in... how long, exactly? He looked at his phone. Yikes! 17 minutes, not good, he thought. Better come up with a plan.
  19. He took a running start, shot a web straight up to the sky, grabbed on, and leaped into the air. Soaring through the sky, he swung from building to building, weaving through city blocks, packed avenues, and back alleys, high above the evening city traffic.
