  1. SEASON 1 SYNOPSIS
  2.
  3. The story begins with a young man by the name of Robin Winters, a graduate of the dojo belonging to Kevin Omega, a man widely regarded as one of the best wrestlers of all time. Robin has his first match in a local indie fed called TWA under the alias "The Ace". The match itself is quick and easy, and Ace celebrates with his best friend and fellow dojo graduate "Princess" Kimberly Cross after the show.
  4.
  5. Robin gets called back to work with the fed on a permanent basis. He and Kimberly attend an autograph signing held by Jonny Mercer, the current UPW World Champion, and the man that their mentor will be facing in a Career vs. Title match at Starrcade, the biggest wrestling show of the year. Soon, Robin befriends two other students of Kevin Omega's dojo, the gruff and blunt "Kingpin" David Fisk, and the cocky and energetic "Diamond" Danny Gable. He also gets to know a few more of his co-workers, including Jenny Deth, a terrifying and tough woman with an aversion to romance, and Abby Johnston, the shy and anxious singer for the fed's in-house band, who has developed a crush on Ace.
  6.
  7. While Robin attempts to get David to tag with him for a show, Kimberly begins to show jealousy towards Abby. David helps take care of a drunken Jenny Deth on a night out, and ends up taking in a stray cat that she had an interest in. Jenny is less impressed when she finds out that David names said cat after her.
  8.
  9. Robin eventually decides to asks Abby out on a date. David agrees to tag with Robin, and the two easily win their match against their opponents.
  10.
  11. The good-natured TWA Champion, "The Chosen One" Owen Barnes is one of the biggest indie stars who is in talks for signing with UPW. He drops the title to Kassius Orwin, a veteran of the independent scene who loves to cause trouble backstage. Despite Owen's best attempts to have cool heads prevail, Kassius is determined to bully and antagonise everyone backstage, even trying to ruin a St. Patrick's Day party at Danny's house. Owen tries hard not to let things devolve, but a hateful comment from Kassius backstage after a show sets Owen off, and the two brawl. Owen is the only one fired from the altercation, as Kassius is the champion and Owen was on his way out of the company anyway. With nobody else suited to play the role of the locker room leader, Owen turns to the rookie Robin and request that he try to keep morale high.
  12.
  13. Robin discovers David's dayjob in addition to wrestling, finding out that he works for his loan-shark uncle, shaking people down for money. This leads to David spending a night in a jail cell. Robin bails him out, and has David quit his job. David moves in with Robin, sleeping on his couch until her gets back on his feet.
  14.
  15. Robin ends up having a title shot against Kassius. The match is competitive and The Ace gets massively over with the crowd, but he ultimately loses. To make matters worse, a few stiff elbow shots from Kassius after the match leave Robin dazed with a suspected minor concussion. While he's recovering, a concerned and frantic Kimberly kisses him and declares her love for Robin. Robin makes the decision to break up with Abby in favour of Kim.
  16.
  17. Robin watches Starrcade at a viewing party with his friends and co-workers, and watches as his mentor Kevin Omega's career is ended in the main event. After the show ends, Robin receives a call from Omega, requesting that the two meet the next day. Robin meets Omega out on the pier looking dishevelled. Kevin opens up about how badly the industry has ruined his life and turned him into a worse person. He offers Robin a briefcase full of his Starrcade earnings on the condition that he would use the money to go to college, and stop his pursuit of a wrestling career. Omega then climbs over the railing, planning to drown himself in the waters below before Robin stops him. After taking Omega back to his apartment, Robin meets Patty Perez, a young UPW wrestler who is the only person left willing to speak to Omega. She takes some time off to take care of him following his suicide attempt, and expects Robin to help out. The three have breakfast together at a diner, and Patty confides in Robin that she is in love with Omega.
  18.
  19. Kimberly moves in with Robin after her sister, who disapproves of wrestling, kicks her out. Kimberly explains that her wealthy parents wrote her sister out of their will for standing up for Kim's career choice, and she has been resented for it since.
  20.
  21. Omega takes his students out to a restaurant, where he berates them and cuts them down in the hopes that they will give up on wrestling. He tells Danny that Ace was always the best student, and the only reason that he touted Diamond as his star pupil was because he needed the attention more, and Ace thrived when starved of it. This leads to Danny having a crisis of confidence going into his match against Ace. Ace wins, and tries to talk Diamond out his funk, but his words only upset Danny even more, causing Danny to declare his intention to quit. Robin tries to talk to Danny once more, convincing him to at least consider returning to the ring.
  22.
  23. Omega offers Ace a ton of money to come with him on a trip to Hartford, where he intends to try making amends with people from his past. He visits the old UPW offices and grabs a tape of his retirement video. He visits his old tag partner, James Daniels in a bar, and the two end up brawling outside. Robin discovers that Omega has been abusing painkillers and tries to reign him in. Omega ends up visiting the home of his first ex-wife Charlotte Anderson, who threatens to grab her gun if Omega doesn't leave her alone. As her continues to be a frantic mess, Omega is punched in the face by Robin. The punch calms Omega down, as he watches the retirement video before visiting the grave of his younger brother, Logan Omega. A UPW wrestler who died young due to a drug overdose. Kevin apologises to his brother's grave before heading back with Robin. Robin expresses pride in Omega for trying to improve himself, and remarks that the two are friends.
  24.
  25. During a meet-up with Danny, Robin lets it slip that he regrets agreeing to date Kimberly. Danny, being in love with Kimberly, ends up relaying this news back to her after one of the shows. She angrily storms off from Robin and moves in with Jenny, while Robin is left worrying that he is becoming more self-destructive like Omega.
  26.
  27. Omega convinces Patty that she has to return to UPW, and she decides to spend her last few days in the city cheering up Robin after his relationship problems. She agrees to do an autograph signing in the local hobby shop by Robin's request. She then takes Robin to the fairground, and comforts him after he suffers a mild panic attack. They quickly become close friends as Patty opens up more on her infatuation with Kevin Omega, and her many pathetic attempts to impress him, as well as her stubborn quest to fix him.
  28.
  29. Kevin is lectured by another indie star on the way out of TWA, Adam Black. Adam maintains that Robin needs to get his affairs in order since Owen trusted him to be responsible. Adam wrestles his last match in the company against Robin. Robin wins, and earns another shot at Kassius' title. After the show, Patty shows up in a dress, moments before leaving for the airport. She tries to confess her love to Omega, but he pushes her away with insults, feeling he's no good for her and that she needs to learn to be with someone else. A disheartened Patty bids her farewells to Robin before hoping in a cab and taking off. Omega runs out, hoping to stop the cab as he regrets his decision to chase her off, but finds himself moving too late.
  30.
  31. Robin reconciles with David and Abby, and has a mature conversation with Kimberly where the two officially break up. With his affairs in order, Robin has another title shot against Kassius, which he wins by DQ after Kassius tears his mask. Kassius retains the title due to this decision, and Danny returns to the ring. A No Holds Barred Re-match is made for the title at the next show.
  32.
  33. Robins decides to toughen himself up and train with the wrestler with the most hardcore experience on the roster, Jenny Deth. During the session, Jenny opens up about her problems with romance, revealing that she first got into the industry by performing sexual favours for a sleazy promoter, making her feel disgusted with herself. After a long talk with Robin, Jenny decides to take a risk and open herself up more, and she begins to date David.
  34.
  35. In a sad display, Omega gets together with his second ex-wife, a horrible woman named Janet Reynolds. He drags Robin and Abby on an incredibly awkward double date where Janet comes on to Robin. Omega breaks up with his ex-wife once more by the end of the dinner.
  36.
  37. Robin meets with Owen, who advises him on being a more responsible person, while also warning him of the future of TWA as a company. He also warns him of a woman from his past by the name of Proxy, who will be coming into Robin's life soon. Owen advises Robin not to trust her.
  38.
  39. David is shot by a distant cousin at the behest of his loan-shark uncle, and find himself stuck in the hospital. Despite this, he's determined to attend the next TWA show. Omega also expresses interest in finally attending one of the shows, and brings Robin to his house for a quick training session. Robin and Omega spar for a while, as it seems Omega is beginning to regain some of his enthusiasm for the sport. After the session, a proud Omega accidentally calls Robin by the name of hie deceased younger brother. After an awkward moment, Robin thanks Omega for helping him out, and Omega wishes Robin luck in his match.
  40.
  41. Robin defeats Kassius in order to win the TWA title. After the show however, it's revealed that TWA has been bought out by the larger company of Total Impact Wrestling. The representative from the company, a woman named Proxy, informs the crew that TWA will no longer exist, and the roster will now be working for Total Impact. Most of them, at least.
