  1. Politoed @ Damp Rock
  2. Ability: Drizzle
  3. EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
  4. Calm Nature
  5. - Scald
  6. - Icy Wind
  7. - Encore
  8. - Protect
  9. Just your average, everyday, troll and drizzle Politoed. Slows them down with Icy Wind to set them up later, Protect is used for ease of prediction, Encore locks them into Toxic, and so on and so forth. A practical requirement for rain teams.
  10.
  11. Scizor @ Scizorite
  12. Ability: Technician
  13. EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
  14. Impish Nature
  15. - Roost
  16. - Swords Dance
  17. - Bullet Punch
  18. - Superpower
  19. One of the big reasons I decided to make a rain team. Everyone carries a Fire-type for Scizor, yes, but what happens when that Fire-type is suddenly half-missing a good deal of its STAB? The EVs let it tank neutral attacks and set up, which it does with aplomb, pulling off a few SDs before Roosting away any damage it's taken and proceeding to sweep with Bullet Punch. Superpower is mostly a backup move.
  20.
  21. Heliolisk @ Life Orb
  22. Ability: Dry Skin
  23. EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
  24. Timid Nature
  25. - Thunder
  26. - Hyper Voice
  27. - Surf
  28. - Focus Blast
  29. Ah, Heliolisk. The other reason I decided to make a rain team. Life Orb+Dry Skin in the rain is a fantastic combination, and perfectly accurate Thunders are just hilariously strong off of that SpAtk. Plus, with all that Speed, he'll outspeed anything but the Latis and a couple of other stupidly fast 'mons. Surprisingly enough, he's got a passable SpDef, and can act as a switch-in for other Electric-types as well as Water-types.
  30.
  31. Ludicolo @ Assault Vest
  32. Ability: Swift Swim
  33. EVs: 156 HP / 52 Def / 156 SpA / 4 SpD / 140 Spe
  34. Modest Nature
  35. - Hydro Pump
  36. - Giga Drain
  37. - Ice Beam
  38. - Fake Out
  39. Another great rain team sweeper, but a much bulkier one this time. Ludicolo gives me that much-needed Grass-type STAB to deal with opposing Water-types, and between Swift Swim and those speed EVs, can outspeed your average Rotom-W and possibly OHKO with Giga Drain, or at least 2HKO and gain back some of its health. Hydro Pump is there for maximum power, although I've been debating replacing it with Surf or Scald for the lower miss chance; on the other hand, the raw power is very tempting to keep.
  40.
  41. Clefable @ Leftovers
  42. Ability: Magic Guard
  43. EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
  44. Calm Nature
  45. - Rain Dance
  46. - Moonblast
  47. - Thunder Wave/Heal Bell
  48. - Soft-Boiled
  49. Fairly simple. As a good tank with nice recovery, as well as a Fairy-type STAB and the ability to act as a backup Rain Dancer, Clefable is a good support. T-wave is nice for slowing down stupidly fast Pokemon for my sweepers to deal with, but is not overly necessary, while Heal Bell could act as a nice clerical support move, but leaves stupidly fast Pokemon still zipping around.
  50.
  51. Noivern @ Choice Specs
  52. Ability: Infiltrator
  53. EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
  54. Timid Nature
  55. - Hurricane
  56. - Dragon Pulse
  57. - Shadow Ball
  58. - U-turn
  59. While I like Noivern, and max SpAtk Specs Hurricane hits like a freight train, I'm honestly not sure about this one. Heliolisk can Hyper Voice past subs, so those are less of an issue; Scizor hits harder after a few Swords Dances; and Clefable can deal with Dragon and Fighting-types. If you've got a replacement, I'd love to hear it.
  60.
  61. Anyway, that's the team as it stands. Suggestions are welcome; the only thing I'd like to say is that while I know Scizor is somewhat subpar given the prevalence of HP Fire Serperior, I'd still like to keep it, just because I like it.
