The Latest MTL Method Guide

As for the correct version of Textcrawler, get 2.1 because 3.0 doesn't let you use the Batch commands like importing your glossary. If you want Batch commands for version 3.0, you need to shell out $45. Version 2.1 is free.

Alright, let's get this guide started. It'll sound like a lot but once you get used to it, it's not bad at all. You can even do replacements in big batches and just speed read through the MTLs.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED (make things easier on yourself and pin these to the taskbar):

	1. Notepad or some other .txt software
	2. Textcrawler version 2
	3. Google spreadsheets glossary
	4. ATG folder or whatever series you're MTL'ing
	5. Systran website: http://www.systranet.com/translate
	6. Chinese dictionary: http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php
	7. The raws: http://www.nitianxieshen.com/
		(my malwarebytes doesn't like the raws site so I try to get as many raws and transfer to notepad as fast as I can)
	8. Word processing software. I use Microsoft Word.

PROCEDURE:

	1. Grab all the raws you can and transfer to a notepad file. I usually grab about 25 raws and separate them with tons of equals signs and a chapter label. Lets call this 'ATG Raws 226-250.txt'
	2. Make a folder for the raws. Let's call this the 'ATG Raws' folder.
	3. Make individual notepad files for each raw chapter and put in the 'ATG Raws' folder.
	4. Make a glossary using Google Spreadsheet. Since Textcrawler makes replacements from top to bottom, you're going to want ways to organize your glossary. Inspired by jayeze's system, I use [ ] for people's names and place names. I use { } for random nouns and miscellaneous things. I use < > for skill names, abilities, and item names. I use numbers in front of 5Earth Profound Realm, 6Sky Profound Realm, 7Emperor Profound Realm, etc. These labels not only make it easy to organize your glossary, but make it so that you can see where the replacements are being made. I also included the chapter number in another column so people would know where to look for the word. You have to be really careful on what you decide to put in your glossary because say if you replace all of the 玄 (Profound)s too early, then you would no longer be able to replace longer chains like Sky Profound Realm.

	Don't wanna make your own? Use mine! I have both a Chinese to English one and an English to English. Since I only use Systran, I know the common mistakes it makes and can use an English to English replacement to fix those. For example, Systran just loves to translate 玄 (Profound) as unreliable. So I just switch all the unreliable with ~Profound~'s! Bing is great at making readable English, but it often makes incorrect interpretations for the sake of readability. I strongly prefer sticking only to Systran and only referencing Bing sometimes because Systran is much better at offering literal interpretations that are much closer to the actual Chinese. I say once you get used to it and with some editing, Systran is much better. Remember to put the Chinese in the left column and the English in the right. Textcrawler replaces what's in the left column with what's in the right column.

	5. Download the Chinese to English glossary and the English to English spreadsheets as .csv files and place them in your ATG folder. (Just for organizational purposes. I often delete these .csv files after I'm done with them)

	6. Make a folder called 'Current Chapter'. Put the file or files you want to do the replacements on in this folder.

	7. Open Textcrawler. Hit Batch Editor -> Import -> and then Import your .csv file. -> Hit use

	8. Pick the file or files you want to do replacements on, and then hit Replace. It'll tell you how many replacements it made.

	9. (optional step) Use that raw with the replacements and then copy paste to Systran. Copy paste what Systran translates and then put that into another file to run the English to English replacements. Use Textcrawler for this as well.

	10. Put this version into Word and as you're reading, take note of any weird paragraphs and reference the raws -> English Systran translation to maybe add new words to your dictionaries. Delete the Systran raw parts as you use them to make it easier to cross reference between the Chinese and English. As you're reading, you can lightly edit the text in Word or just go YOLO and do the editing lightning quickly in your head.

That's pretty much the whole process... I put finished files in other folders to help with organization but I think I covered everything. It seems like a lot but once you do it yourself you'll get the hang of it. If you have any questions you can contact me on my reddit account /u/FirosAhoge like some readers have kindly already did. I usually respond fairly quickly. If you want to read really fast, instead of individual raw files you can copy paste whole arcs. If you go too far in an arc though, you'll start realizing that there's a lot of new terms that aren't in your glossary yet. Also, when you get the raws, don't forget to get the title in there too!

Whew! That took longer than I thought! I hope this helps you guys :D I might eventually make a more nicely formatted guide on reddit, but I'm gonna hold off on that for now.
