- A giant metal pincer comes out of the ground behind Sonic. Shadow reaches towards him.
- “Sonic, look out!”
- Sonic turns around just as the metal claw catches him. He struggles to break free and a giant robotic crab rises out of the sand. The crab has a mustached face on the front of it. Shadow scowls.
- “Eggman! Let him go!”
- The cockpit to the robotic crab opens up and a giant television screen rises out of it. There is a few seconds of static before showing Eggman on the screen.
- “OHOHOHO! You would like that, wouldn’t you Shadow? I was able to build this bad boy with a little help from Phane Enterprises. This thing has tech neither Sonic nor you have ever seen! OHOHOHO! Unfortunately, this tech comes with a price, and I’ve been told you have to fight someone in order for me to keep it. And, for the record, that person is not me.”
- “And why shouldn’t I fight you right now?”
- “OHOHOHO! An excellent question Shadow! I think you’ll see why…here!”
- Eggman presses a large button and the screen goes to static again before showing a woman tied up. Shadow gasps.
- “M-Maria!?”
- “That’s right Shadow, just another present from Phane Enterprises. I’d love to fight you now and beat you down, but that was not in the contract! You have to enter my egg carrier and fight someone in a special match if you want her to be rescued. You’d better hurry though, the guy that wants to fight you is rather impatient.”
