  1. Roy was standing on the edge of camp after a hunt well done, the rampaging Glavenus having been taken down by himself and his Rathian-halfbreed partner. The jungle was safe for the time being, though it certainly hadn't come out unscathed from the titanic battle in the trees. Several trees were cut clean in half with the wyvern's massive bladed tail, with a few more having been burnt to cinders by the massive Blade Wyvern's fiery spit, the tree burning so fast that the flames had no time to spread.
  2.
  3. Thankfully for the jungle, even if it had spread, relief was on the way. Another of the region's frequent thunderstorms was approaching, bringing with it a downpour. The rain began slowly, the heavy droplets swiftly extinguishing any errant embers that may have remained. Kino was in the large tent the two had bought, the tent roomy enough that she didn't have to wrap her tail up 'a thousand times' to fit.
  4.
  5. "No, now it's just a dozen times," Roy chuckled quietly, the rain almost drowning out his voice. He wouldn't be surprised if her wyvern ears had heard him anyway, but right now he didn't care. His Azure Rathalos helmet was in the tent, as was all the armor for his upper body and arms. Now it was just his undershirt getting soaked in the rain, cooling off the desperately overheated Hunter.
  6.
  7. "Roy?"
  8.
  9. "Mm?"
  10.
  11. The silver haired man looked back to the tent where Kinoreia was standing, her mismatched blue and green eyes looking at his own emerald ones. She was standing behind the tent's entrance, wrapped up in a thin blanket. How she was that cold he would never figure out. "What are you doing out here?"
  12.
  13. "Nothing Reia," Roy replied, looking back out at the ocean. "Just relaxing."
  14.
  15. "Why out in the rain, though?"
  16.
  17. "I'm a little overheated, that's all. Are you okay?" The Human asked, gesturing to her thigh where a large, deep cut split her outer plating. They hadn't had time to actually check it while they were engaged with the Glavenus, and it had just slipped their minds after taking it down. There was some blood on the edges of the wound, though he wasn't sure if it was hers or the Glavenus' from her immediate counter-attack.
  18.
  19. The Huntress looked her wound over, touching it experimentally. Wincing a little on the second less-than-graceful poke, she stopped to readjust the blanket.
  20.
  21. "Hurts a little, but not much."
  22.
  23. Roy frowned, unconvinced. Kino shrugged, dropping the blanket in the tent and coming out into the open. She let the rain soak her light blue hair, darkening it a bit as the rain stained it. The water beaded up on her scales before running down to the ground below. Roy's frown deepened when he noticed a slight limp in her step. He walked towards her, intent on helping, when she simply walked past him to stare out at the water. Roy followed her gaze, curious.
  24.
  25. "I dunno what you see out here." She mentioned after a moment, eyes leaving the water and turning to him.
  26.
  27. "It's not what I see out here. It's what I hear, what I smell, and what I feel." Roy replied, placing his head on top of her own and wrapping his arms around her waist. Kino made no move to stop him, instead closing her eyes and just listening. Eventually the half-breed's mouth broke into a small smile, relaxation spreading through her.
  28.
  29. "Mmm...we should do this more often." The Rathian muttered, leaning back to tuck her head into the space between Roy's neck and shoulder. She softly rubbed her head on his skin when she felt warmth, eyes still closed. His arms closed tighter, but not uncomfortably so.
  30.
  31. "We should." He agreed, before noticing the rain growing somewhat heavier. "We should also get that cut bandaged up. I saw that wince."
  32.
  33. "You did?" Her eyes cracked open, peering at him in shock. "Damn."
  34.
  35. Roy grinned slightly as he guided Kino back to the tent, pulling out the medical supplies. They listened to the rain as he bandaged her up, then listened some more as they drifted off to sleep, content that their job was done. The balloon was on the way, but the weather would delay it upwards of several hours.
  36.
  37. Perfect for such an unlikely pair to take a quick Felyne-nap under the soothing rain.
