  1. okay so this is just kinda streams of consciousnessy but???
  2.
  3. when i'm on planes i mostly like to listen to instrumental things, quiet things also but sometimes more intense uh. most of these albums are on spotify for easy downloading but a couple of them aren't, they're on bandcamp i think tho?
  4.
  5. okay so the number one thing about me is that i get Pretty Bad Plane Anxiety sometimes and idk why but Godspeed You! Black Emperor's album F#A#oo like perfectly alleviates that so it has a permanent spot in my plane lists. it's not exactly what most ppl think is chill i don't think but for me it's soothing??
  6.
  7. on a somewhat similar vibe is max richter's The Blue Notebookst; it's a like contemporary classical (( i guess u could say altho that label suxx )) album that has a lot of ups and downs and tilda swinton does some vocals and one of the songs is in arrival and it's gr8 i think of it often.
  8.
  9. if yr just planning on sleeping then like the disintegration loops could be good for that, just lil minamilist electronic loops to block out sounds
  10.
  11. Bowery Electric's album Beat is like. it's a perfect downtempo post-rock//trip-hop album, it kinda fits in alongside Massive Attack's album Massive which does a similar sort of thing, it gets a tiny bit sinister occasionally but mostly is pretty soothing.
  12.
  13. Stumbeline's Spiderwebbed is the most Chill with a capital Wave of these albums, it's got barely any strings or guitars or even drums, lots of like things that would fit in Youtube Dot Com Female Vocal Chillstep Comp Sit And Chill Study Mix type videos. honestly it's just really good and you should listen to it, there's this wild cover of like a mazzy star song??
  14.
  15. it's kinda hard to track down but i think i could just like. send you a zip file of this weird vaporwave album called Honestly by Monument XIII. it's pretty... idk, introspective is a weird word for a vaporwave, but that's all i can call it, and it's rly short and sweet and a little bit sad HM I'M DETECTIVE A THEME -- it's what i'm listening to rn while i write this
  16.
  17. -----------
  18.
  19. OKAY so that's pretty much the more instrumental types of things, the other sorts of things are mostly like quiet indie stuff? idk i mostly listen to bummer jams so.... that's what i've got for you.
  20.
  21. the standout album, and one that's kinda hard to track down, is this kinda downtempo hip hop mixtape by a kid called Lucki Eck$, called alternative trap. it's def. not on spotify, and idk where it can be found but, yea, i can send it to u. at one point on one of the songs he's like "i'm surprised i even like finished this album, i never tried hard at anything" and just. Big Mood. plus in there there's a daughter sample, and speaking of:
  22.
  23. daughter is an amazing band, and there are a bunch of good albums; if you leave and not to to disappear are both spectacular, i think If You Leave is probably a lil more cohesive as an album but Not to Disappear has better songs. the lead vocalist is truly truly spectacular and i love her
  24.
  25. uhhh okay so Keaton Henson has some like, Pining White Boy problems but still his album Dear... is just a serious fuckin' tearjerker and i listen to it a lot a lot, it's mostly just one sad british dude and his guitar, with some maybe kinda elliott smith vibes?
  26.
  27. U Kno Sufjan Stevens Is That Shit--carrie and lowell is a great plane album
  28.
  29. and like Aimee Mann also, lost in space is rly bass-heavy bc she used to be just a straight up bassist, so there's lot of rly interesting rhythm section things but pretty chill lead lines which i find v. good for kinda tuning out some.
  30.
  31. so those last couple are all pretty much like, singer songwriter-y, indie kinda things but here are a couple things that aren't: American Football, which honestly i will be very surprised if you don't already listen to??? they're a kinda early Midwest Emo band, lots of noodly guitars and weird electric organs and songs about mourning relationships in kinda petty ways, like one of the main songs from their first album is just called "You Know I Should Be Leaving" and that says a lot i think.
  32.
  33. I Hate Myself's 10 Songs is another album like that altho it leans more into the kinda screamo side of things so it might not be chill enough for a plane time.
  34.
  35. Jeff Rosentock's first album, I Look Like Shit, has some Really Fuckin Serious new england vibes to it, i think i sent u a song from it specifically for that reason. i t's mostly a NYC winter album but that's not that different tbh.
  36.
  37. Red State by Gowns is one of the albums that got me thru treatment, it's a weird like, drone folk lo-fi thing and even if u don't find it adequate for a plane please listen to it for me?
  38.
  39. Ghost // Light is that album i sent u the other day and i'm so so glad u liked it and i think it might be the mood < 3
  40.
  41. uhhhhh that's pretty much what i got just kinda. off the top of my head, u could also try finding some DJ screw for like, a change of pace? some weird houston hiph op all slowed and mashed up, like idk i find it very charming and sothing but not everybody does. the album Late Night Fuckin Yo Bitch is mostly like R&B and Soul stuff and i absolutely adore it.
