  1. In order to get the game to update on the newest release of the game as of April 1st 2020, you will need to FORCE the game to update. To do this, undertake the following tasks as follows:
  2.
  3. Open up Lutris and RIght-CLick the game, next select the option to "Run EXE inside wine prefix".
  4.
  5. A window should now open allowing you to select a ".exe" file to run.
  6. You now need to navigate to the location where the Wine Prefix for your game is located, within that wine prefix go to this location: "LocationOfWinePrefix/drive_c/windows/command" and select the program named "start.exe".
  7.
  8. Next you should be greeted with a rather "basic" looking Windows Command Prompt/Terminal application, into this you need to type the following command: "cd c:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher"
  9. (Minus the speech marks at either end)
  10.
  11. Now it should be ready to allow you top type a new command, type :"ls" into the command prompt and it should throw an error saying that the command is not recognised, if it does then we are good to continue to the next section as it means you have completed the first command correctly and haven't mis-typed anything.
  12.
  13. Now, here is the final command you will need to type out:
  14. "Launcher.exe --verify -noChunkedDownload"
  15. Press enter to run the command, and watch as the Rockstar Launcher buzzes into life, it should now try to update the GTA V install, leave it to do so, do not let your computer go into sleep mode, standby or any other power saving/lock-out mode. (Move the mouse around to stay active.)
  16.
  17. The game should now update successfully, congratulations.
  18. If this doesn't work then please check that you used the "cd" command to get to the correct location, spelling is critical as the system doesn't allow for spelling mistakes.
  19.
  20.
  21.
  22.
  23.
  24. Note: The following guide addresses issue that I have only found to affect the Rockstar Launcher/Rockstar Social Club/DVD DISC versions of the game and NOT the Steam version of the game, although no harm in trying it on the Steam version if you have problems.
