- Leo awoke lying in a field of tall grass, with the wind caressing his body, and the sun shining down upon him. For a second, he laid there, basking in the sunlight's caress while he pondered what exactly was going on.
- He didn't understand it. He didn't understand why he'd been chosen. Chosen to isekai into a strange new world.
- His mind could hardly wrap itself around the concept, but for some reason, he was in a phenomenon called "Jumpchain", which was what a mysterious, cosmic entity had taken to calling what Leo himself currently in. For the entity's amusement, been forcefully thrown into a new world, a world he would be forced to adapt in and survive for a decade.
- Leo had wanted to protest, but he didn't have a choice, for the entity wouldn't take no for an answer. It told Leo that if he wanted to go home, he either had to die -- in which case he would return to the real world, or survive 10 years, in which case, the entity would allow him to leave with any powers and Pokemon he picked up while in this strange new world.
- It was an obvious choice to make, especially because Leo didn't want to die. Moreover, the universe he was from was apparently stopped and put into a time stasis until he could return, that meant his family didn't have to worry about him, and it also meant he could return to the real world as a nigh superhuman individual should he survive.
- And so with that knowledge in mind, Leo accepted his fate.

- Leo was walking now, trying to find his way towards a town. His first priority was to find civilization so that he could get some food, water, and shelter. As he walked, he heard screaming. He turned, followed the sound, and then he ran towards it. What greeted him was a black and gray wild wolf Pokemon chasing an old man, drool fell from it's mouth as it close the distance between itself and the man.
- Leo's eyes darted to the Pokemon and then he focused, and he reached out towards it mentally, trying to move it with his mind. The effect was limited. Leo wasn't strong enough to push it back, but he was strong enough to halt it. The pokemon's eyes shifted to him and then they narrowed. It started to growl and fight against Leo's restraints.
- Nervousness filled Leo and his hands started to shake, his control started to slip, and the wolf pokemon started to walk towards him as it slowly started to shake off Leo's control.
- "Come on, Leo. Focus." Leo thought to himself. "Don't let yourself die like this." And with that thought, calmness suddenly filled Leo's being. Was this the result of the Combat Training perk he'd taken? Regardless, it didn't matter. With his newfound focus, Leo reinforced his hold on the wolf pokemon, then he picked up some rocks, and he began to assail the pokemon with them, throwing them as hard as he could, over and over again.
- The wolf pokemon's eyes dropped and then it howled in a defeated voice.
- "It's begging for mercy." Leo thought. Leo released his hold on the pokemon, and the pokemon responded by turning, and running away.
- "Thank you." The old man said. "Here, have this. It's a pokemon I bought from the market. Take it as thanks for saving my life. I would've used the pokemon myself, but it doesn't my obey my commands or like me. Maybe it will like you."
- Leo thanked the old man for the Pokemon and then he asked for a favor: for the opportunity to travel with him until they arrived in a village.
- The old man eagerly accepted, and so the two traveled together in a pair until they made their way towards a local town.
- Leo bade the man thanks, as he departed from the man's company and began to explore the area.
- He quickly realized he had a problem: he didn't have any money, which meant he couldn't buy any food, and he couldn't buy a room in an inn to sleep in. He was broke. And he had no one in this world to rely on, save the old man, whose company he'd already left.
- With the Survival Training perk, Leo instinctively knew that he could live off the land. He could eat the berries and the vegetation on the ground. But Leo knew that this wouldn't be enough to sustain the peak human physique he'd acquired. Should he want to keep his nigh Captain America body, he'd need protein, and he'd need to work out. Besides, sleeping in the wilds was dangerous, a pokemon could sneak up on him and attack him while he was sleeping.
- So Leo made his choice: he would become a pokemon trainer, not because he wanted to become a champion, but because he needed to do so in order to survive.
- Leo left the town and then he drew out the pokeball he'd acquired. His hands slid across the red and white ball, and then he pushed the pokeball away from his body, and he pressed the button on it. A red flash shot out of the ball and then traveled to the ground, before transforming into an orange, dragonoid creature, a Charmander.
- A smirk mired Leo's face. Charmanders would eventually evolve into Charizards, giant and powerful orange Dragons.
- "Well, let's begin." Leo thought. "I don't know if you speak English, but I'm going to assume you do. My name is Leo and..."

- Months had passed, and Leo was now a rising Pokemon trainer. In terms of bonding with his pokemon, he wasn't anything special, but he had a unique advantage compared to everyone else in the setting. He wasn't a child, he was a grown man in the body of a child, which meant he had far more wisdom and experience than most pokemon trainers.
- Add in his Combat Training which made him able to control his fear, his supernatural aim from the Savant perk, his peak human reflexes, and his own telekinesis and telepathy which he could use to distract the enemy? It made him an utter menace.
- Leo's pokemon were able to be trained far faster because his pokemon could fight without being injured or fatigued for far longer due to Leo's help.
- When Leo's Pokemon fought, Leo would assault the minds of his enemies with telepathic attacks that would snap their focus at key moments. And when Leo wasn't using his telepathy, he was using his telekinesis to slow down his enemies, redirect their attacks, and in some cases even slam his enemies against the ground with his mind.
- Fighting side by with his Charmander, Leo quickly became a fairly strong and fairly famous pokemon trainer around the locals.
- But all wasn't well. Leo got very little sleep. Zubats often attacked him whenever he was out in the wild. They were fairly easy to defeat, but it meant that Leo was always fatigued when he went out in the wilds and didn't have the safety of an inn to stay in.
- Leo also found that it was nigh impossible for him to catch new Pokemon. He knew it was due to the Cursed drawback, which made it harder for him to catch pokemon. The drawback didn't make it impossible, but it did make it freakishly hard to it.
- Aside from that, Leo often also found himself in contact with Team Rocket. It seemed his telekinetic abilities had caught their attention, and so they wanted to recruit him. First they tried to convince him, but when that failed, they tried to force him. Leo was able to beat them back though and escape their sights with the "Blend In" perk that he'd taken.
- For the next year, this summed up his life.
- ***
- It had been seven years, and Leo had come to the conclusion, that if it could go wrong, it would. He'd sharply underestimated the sheer misfortune that the Cursed Drawback would bring to his life.
- Four times. Four damn times he'd been snubbed of becoming a Pokemon Champion. It was always due to a freak accident or misfortune. He'd be winning and on track to a world of champions, wealth, and fame, then everything would come crashing down in his face, and that pissed him off.
- He supposed that this was how Ash felt in the Pokemon anime. He didn't how the kid did it. It frustrated him to no end, to try so hard for a year to become a champion, only to be snubbed of what you deserved at the end, often to shit outside of your control.
- For the first year, he lost the championship because of a Zubat attack the night before, which left him sore and in too much pain to focus on the fights. This soreness meant he couldn't properly draw out his telepathic abilities, which destroyed his chances of winning
- For the second year, he lost the championship because of a Legendary pokemon's attack on the city. Leo had survived, but the championship had been called off for two years while they rebuilt the city from scratch.
- For the fourth year, Leo lost because his Charizard was suffering food poisoning. The food poisoning had left Charizard unable to draw out his full potential, and because of that, Charizard, his best pokemon, had been easy for his work his enemies to defeat.
- For the fifth year, Leo was too frustrated to even try and compete.
- For the sixth year, Leo lost because one of the trainers had TWO legendary pokemon in his lineup. How was Leo supposed to compete with that? As a result, he and his Charizard were absolutely crushed.
- It was at this point that Leo gave up, and he realized the Cursed Drawback would never allow him to become a Pokemon champion. Because becoming Champion required luck, and luck would never, ever, be in Leo's favor.
- So Leo instead decided to focus on what he could change. And for the next three years, he focused on building up the strongest pokemon lineup possible, so that when Leo left, he could take five incredibly strong pokemon with him.

- It had been 10 years, and it was time to leave. Time suddenly stopped. The birds stopped moving, the wind stopped caressing the grass, and then Leo himself was warped into a spaceless dimension with no floors, no walls, no ceiling -- a place where there was only emptiness for as far as the eye could see.
- "You did well, Leo. You may return home." A shapeless voice called out to Leo. "Or, you can go to another world. The same rules and concepts would apply in this world. Die in it and you return home. Live, and you keep the abilities, afterwhich, you can return home with them, or you can move on to a third world. Repeat ad infinitum."
- "I see." Leo said. "In that case, I would like to move another universe."
- "So be it." The voice called out. "But before that, I have some rewards for you, rewards to make your journey across the multiverse easier"
- And so became my journey as a "jumper"...
