- Image: http://static.sportzwiki.com/2016/04/David-Alaba.jpg
- BOdy: David Alaba voted the best left back in Europe in 2013 and 2014 by the fans, has been rumored to be a target of the latest Chelsea’s acquisition.
- Alaba comes from a family of overachievers. His father was the first black soldier in the Austrian guard, popular gardesoldat and his mother was Miss Philippines. David himself set numerous records as the youngest player in various selections he played in. He was the youngest player in Austria Vienna team, the youngest member of the Austrian national team and the youngest player ever to start for Bayern Munich at the tender age of 17 in 2009. Since then, he played 165 games for the Munich team and scored 13 goals.
- But goals aren’t really what Bayern is paying him for. Alaba’s area of expertise is defense. Despite several experiments on different positions, including midfield and both wings, he established himself as the Europe’s finest left back, as proven by the numerous accolades he received since settling in that position. Both Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the Bayern’s chairman, and Carlo Ancelotti, the coach, has been heaping praises on him for his performance in the last several seasons. The young defender has also been an instrumental part of the Austrian national team, having played in 55 games in which he scored 11 goals. Many experts agree that Austria would be hard-pressed to qualify for the European Championship in 2016 without David Alaba.
- Alaba, who has won five Bundesliga titles and Champions League in 2013 with Bayern, has been named Austrian footballer of the year last six years in the row. At the age of 24, he would be an excellent addition to the London club, who had struggled with defense lately. It remains to be seen how much truth there is in these rumors, but one thing is certain, any team would be lucky to have David Alaba in its squad.
