- This is an unofficial patch for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
- by Troika Games. It's a cumulative patch containing all the previous
- releases and works with retail and downloadable versions of any kind
- as the Troika Games official patch 1.2 is included. But it shouldn't
- be mixed together with any big Bloodlines mods and applying it to an
- international version will revert all localizations back to English!
- The default Basic Patch fixes multiple bugs and restores only little
- content to stay close to the original. The Plus Patch (+) adds minor
- tweaks and lots of content, the Patch Extras include a SDK and more!
- Patched dbghelp, client, engine, shaderapidx9 and vampire dlls bring
- widescreen support and fix weapon-stats, coronas-gone, refresh-rate,
- lights-through-walls, floats-for-females and more-than-2GB-RAM bugs.
- To install the patch choose the Bloodlines directory as destination,
- select wanted features, install and then start the game from the new
- desktop or start menu links. Thanks to Jordan Russel for Inno Setup!
- It is very important to start a new game after patching, saved games
- are moved to save/old! To uninstall, just remove the patch links and
- patch directory. Changelogs, known issues and more are listed below.
- On issues in Windows Vista/7/8/10 install the patch as administrator
- into the game folder, then disable visual themes/desktop composition
- or run the game in XP compatibility mode. On problems with Steam run
- Steam and the game as administrator and copy steam.dll into the game
- folder if you get a "failed to find Steam" error. If you want to run
- it from the Steam list add -game Unofficial_Patch to launch options.
- Special thanks to burgermeister for building the Public Library map,
- EntenSchreck for building the Hallowbrook Atrium, and drafts for the
- Malkavian Maze, Warrens Shortcut and Museum entrance! To Atrblizzard
- and Psycho-A for opening up the pier and optimizing all other levels
- too. The maps were edited and compiled using the Unofficial SDK from
- Psycho-A and Fire64 and then finished and filled with life by Wesp5.
- Special thanks also to the people who modified the dlls of the game,
- to Jor and Wabbite who fixed the 2 GB memory bug in shaderapidx9.dll
- and Frank7777 who added the refresh-rate fix to it. To in9 who fixed

- free redistribution of the unchanged patch is permitted but it's not

- which looks close but not exactly like the real Bradbury atrium.

- Most enemies drop only one weapon, some exit map icons are absent.
- Don't leave the building of the murder before talking to the bum.
- Occasionally mailboxes do not receive rewards or objects drop out.
- There is a way to exploit armors and stats, but that is a secret.
- In some cutscenes people look or move strangely and bodies vanish.
- Sometimes the player might stand up during the endgame taxi ride.
- Selling too much to vendors makes goods unavailable or game crash.
- Sometimes the black inside of tunnels or manholes will disappear.
- Occasionally Ash will talk with you while a hunter is still alive.
- Feeding on rats may trigger melee mode and their bodies levitate.
