- Mimiko had just finished her last night class and started to head home. 11:35 is not a good time to walk home but she knows a shortcut behind the school that no one uses. But if she did ever encounter someone, she was certain she could out run them if they were dangerous. Walking through the shortcut many nights had made her familiar with the path and not much people can run at full speeds at night on uneven ground in the woods. There's just too many obstacles one can trip over if one didn't know the way. Couple that with the fact that she's the ace of the track and field team, she thought she can out run anyone out here.
- On this particular night, the sky was calm and the stars were visible. Thinking it'll be a good time to star gaze for a while, she stopped in a clearing and looked up at the sky. Tanabata was rapidly approaching so she looked and see if Orihime-sama and Hikoboshi-sama were any closer. "Figures," she thought. The two stars are no closer to each other than yesterday. "Just like that boy and I," she whispered quietly. When they were kids, they promised to meet up again during Tanabata but that have never happened. "Oh well, it was just a childhood promise, he probably doesn't even remember me," she said dejectedly.
- Turning to leave, something bright and moving in the sky caught her eye. Hoping it was a shooting star, she wished to at least meet the boy again even if it wasn't on Tanabata. Her life is an exhausting one as she works during the day and went to school at night. She keeps on looking at the star until it passes in hopes that it will make the wish come true. But, the star wasn't fading. In fact, it was heading straight towards her. With a deafening noise, the bright light shot past over her and crashed just out of view behind the trees. Her senses told her to stay away but her curiosity got the better and she decided to take a look.
- Rushing past the bushes and trees, she saw that the strange light had knocked down some trees in its descent. Inside the large crater was a sphere, no larger than a meter. Adorn with fancy lights, the sphere had created a crater ten times it's size. As she drew closer to the edge of the crater to get a better look, a hatch suddenly opened in the sphere. Her every being told her not to proceed any closer but her mind told her she's gone this far and it couldn't hurt to go just a tiny bit further. Dropping down into the crater to peer inside, she noticed something dark and moving inside. Seeing the hideous dark purple thing, she got scared and her senses finally got a hold of her. Fear taking root in her, she turns to climb out of the crater. Suddenly, tentacles started to shoot out of the sphere and grabbed Mimiko.
- Her eyes fulled of terror, she began to scream and shout for help knowing that it was hopeless because no one traverse these woods. "Any help running was, " she thought bitterly as she was fighting the tentacle that was slowly dragging her back to the sphere. "This thing doesn't even run and it caught me in an instant. Where is that speed that you're so proud of now," she mocked herself. Seeing as her struggle is fruitless, she stopped resisting and resign her to her fate. As she was pulled closer to the sphere, the creature finally came out. Emerging from the sphere was a purple blob covered with countless tentacles. Suddenly, one of the tentacles ripped apart her clothes and a new horror filled her eyes. "No!" she desperately shouted. She begged and cried, "Let me go please." However, the creature took no heed of her words. Instead, it started to more violently tear her clothes off.
- The thing then grabbed her two arms and lifted them until they were apparently face to face as it had no face or anything that defines one. Slowly, other tentacles began to pry apart her legs. Another one started to crawl up her legs heading straight towards her sweet spot. The cold slimy feel of the tentacles disgusted her and in one final act of desperation, she bit one of the tentacles that was hanging around near her mouth. Shrieking in pain, the thing let her go to tend to its wound. But, just like before, Mimiko didn't get far before the thing caught her again. This time though, it grabbed her painfully and drew her in faster...
- Tune in for the next installment.
