Good Afternoon everyone (sent this to everyone to make it easier to get the info across). My name is Erik O’Connor and I’m currently a senior at Jacobs High school and I’m taking Mr. Thorsen’s class named Wars and conflict. About a month ago I came up to his class after lunch and he was talking to of my good friends Abdul and Zaid at his desk at first I didn’t think anything wrong about this because he always has students come up at lunch to have a quiet place to play games or study.But I over heard him(Mr.Thorsen) ask Abdul and Zaid if they would be ok writing a letter to the board of education telling them that Mr.Thorsen Teaching was to covert people of the Muslim culture to Christianity and that they respect him as a teacher . I asked Abdul and Zaid what happened and they said that a Fellow student reported Mr.Thorsen saying he tried to convert his religion and now Mr.Thorsen had to talk to the board but a month later I made a comment on if he ever became an college professor to let me know because I would love to take another class of his and he said it might be sooner than later because the Administration does not like his teaching they think how he makes jokes of important historical characters is racist and upset the students. Summary: -Some kid reported Mr.Thorsen to the Administration because of his Muslim culture and Mr.Thorsen’s lessons on Christianity
-Mr.Thorsen had two students right letters on how that wasn’t true who shares the same culture but board doesn’t read letters
-Mr.Thorsen says might be sooner than later that he’d be teaching at college after I said something as a joke
-Monday halfway through class he tells us he won’t be here for the next 4 days because he got meetings and again next week
-After class I asked him if he was ok and he looked at me and said yeah I’m good but in a defeated way
-Tuesday during class someone who mom works in the district says that Mr.Thorsen talking to the Board of education and might be fired
-We the students try to stop this by happening by starting a petition on our chromebooks but the deans tell/force Sean to take it down because it goes against Chromebook policy so I  created this on my own computer
-Today a teacher who will remain unnamed said that he saw my petition and even though he can’t sign he told me it’s true that Mr. Thorsen at the meetings and they are gonna Force him to resign (Basically firing but looks better on the resume) and he seemed mad
-He said to stop this to go to the Board meeting in two weeks on Tuesday with the petition to help stop it
