Lilja had been around the water her entire life.  Her parents owned and ran a small cafe in the docks district of Arkham City, her father working as a fisherman to supply their cafe, an incredibly dangerous job in the monster filled world that is beyond Arkham.  Her childhood was relatively normal despite this, a mix of going to school and then spending her free time delivering orders to people around the docks district as an excuse to stay near the sea and sing while she waited for her father.

One day however, her father did not return from his trip out to the sea.  Lilja continued to come to the docks every morning and every evening, singing and waiting for her father to return home.  After almost a month, her grandmother on her fathers side came to her, and

As she studied, she began to learn about legends from a time before the fall of the outside world fell.  Legends that told of a island hidden within the wide berth of the pacific ocean...  An Island where a powerful deity of light resides.  Many humans lived on its island, protecting the speakers of their God and living in harmony with one another.  The latest of these legends tell of a small group of the natives who left the island on the order of the speakers, and traveled far across the globe to locations where they may be able to do some good at some point in the dark future ahead of them. Lilja was one of the few remaining descendants of these individuals.
