  5. And so, the battle had been won. Zafiya had defeated her long-time nemesis, the great pharaoh Rei, and finally had taken her place as ruler of Egypt. It was a dark day for the kingdom, and--indeed--the world. That night, she would seal her destiny as the new pharaoh. As she coiled her obsidian black tail around the throne in which she sat, her newly-acquired servants lined up and bowed to their queen. “Now then, my subjects...Bring me my slave,” she commanded, taking superfluous pleasure in the word ‘slave’. One of her servants wheeled a cage into the throne room. A large cage containing only a single, dark-skinned woman, whose beauty was tarnished by her tattered clothing and tear stains on her cheeks. It was Rei, the Pharaoh who had tried and failed to protect her kingdom from Zafiya, now futilely struggling with her chains as the lamia sauntered toward her.
  6.
  7. “Z-Zafiya, please don’t do this! We…We were friends in high school together, remember?” Rei begged as the servants pulled her out of her cage, reluctantly offering her up to their queen.
  8.
  9. “Friends? Hah! Rei, you’re so naïve, it’s cute,” Zafiya retorted, holding the woman’s jaw in her hands. She then pulled the pharaoh’s head closer so that Zafiya’s lips were only inches away from her ear. “You know we were destined to become enemies, Rei. And now, it’s time for you to be...removed.”
  10.
  11. And with her final words, Zafiya dug her fangs into the woman’s neck. Rei struggled to fight it, but all she could do as beg for her to stop as she slowly turned into the lamia’s mindless slave. “Zafiya! Z-Zafiya! Stop, please stop! Zafiya, wake up! ZAFIYAAAAA!!!”
  12.
  13.
  14.
  15. “Zafiya? Zafiya, come on, get up.” Rei groans as she tries gently nudging the sleeping apophis. The pharaoh always had to wake up Zafiya before they could begin their day. Still, the task of waking up the snake seems to get harder every day. Unfortunately, Rei’s efforts have little effect, as Zafiya continues to nibble on her pillow. Rei sighs, rubbing her eyes in annoyance. “Oh, what am I going to do with you?”
  16.
  17. Almost as though on cue, the apophis stops nibbling on the pillow and begins laughing in her sleep. “Heh-heh. Yeah...take that, you bitch Rei.”
  18.
  19. The young pharaoh quickly jolts upright, her fists shaking in anger. She gives a slight, angry grunt as she flicks Zafiya’s nose. Zafiya wakes up immediately from this, rubbing her nose as she reveals her grimacing face to the pharaoh. “What the hell was that for, Rei?” Zafiya groans.
  20.
  21. Rei looks back with nothing short of a straight face as she asks, “So, what were you dreaming about?”
  22.
  23. Zafiya’s eyes widen in embarrassment as she hears her question. She looks everywhere but at Rei’s eyes as she answers back, “Huh? Um, I dunno. Wh-What were *you* dreaming about?”
  24.
  25. Rei may not know exactly what she was dreaming of, but given their rivalry, she knew well enough. “Get dressed,” Rei said as she shook her head. “And hurry, or we’ll be late.” As Rei turns around to leave the lamia’s bedroom, Zafiya sticks her forked tongue out at the pharaoh before getting out of bed to dress herself for her job.
  26.
  27.
  28.
  29. Out in the city, the pathways are bustling with many people walking the streets, both human and monster. A man is being walked by his wolf girlfriend, both stopping at the curb, nearly getting run over as a biker and a centaur race down the street. And then there’s Zafiya and Rei, both making their way uptown to the high school up in the hills.
  30.
  31. “So, Zafiya,” Rei starts, shooting a glance at her, “did you remember the lesson plan I prepared for you?”
  32.
  33. Zafiya breaks out of her morning daydream, giving a rather dismissive answer of, “Hm? Oh yeah. Definitely.”
  34.
  35. That isn’t quite the response she was expecting from her. The response she wanted, maybe, but not necessarily expected. Rei pries further and asks, “And you plan on actually sticking to the lesson plan this time?”
  36.
  37. Zafiya gives an irritated groan and replies with an exaggerated “Yes, Mom. I’ll stick to the script this time.”
  38.
  39. “Zafiya, this is serious,” Rei says in a firm tone. “The principal is going to be upset on when she finds out that half of the students think that the first rulers of Egypt were lamias.”
  40.
  41. “Hey! They could’ve been lamias,” says the apophis indignantly.
  42.
  43. “But they’re not. That’s the difference,” Rei refutes, furrowing an eyebrow. “Just please, follow the lesson plan I gave you.” Before walking ahead into the school, she uses two fingers to point to her eyes then back to Zafiya’s. “And I’ll know if you don’t, got it?” She then leaves the lamia to enter the building.
  44.
  45. Zafiya only shrugs with a smirk as she faintly replies, “Yeah, whatever,” before slithering through the school doors.
  46.
  47.
  48.
  49. Slapping her textbook onto the front desk, the apophis stands proudly in front of her students with her hands on her hips as she announces, “Class, today we will be learning a bit about royalty in Ancient Egypt.” Zafiya takes a stick of chalk in her hand and writes the topic of discussion on the chalkboard behind her, underlining the words before carrying on.
  50.
  51. “Now, there are many aspects that separated the royal families of Egypt from the common people, like their lifestyle, their clothing, their responsibilities as rulers of the kingdom...” Zafiya starts, naming quite a few things before taking off on a tangent. “Did you know that back then, incest was only allowed between the members of the royal family? That means that the idea of commoners having sex with their siblings was highly looked down upon.” The girls in the class begin taking amongst themselves on the issue, much to the unease of the boys.
  52.
  53. “But I digress. For now, we’ll talk about make-up.” She once again takes her chalk and adds the word ‘Cosmetics’ to her self-made list. “Back in those days, men actually used cosmetics more than women did. You know what that means? Even men were able to look as beautiful as me. Isn’t that something?” Zafiya wondered in mock vanity.
  54.
  55. A few of the girls in the back of the classroom snicker at each other in response to their teacher’s remark. “Yep. That’s our Ms. Zafiya,” an Ogre whispers to a Jinko and a Succubus, “Telling the entire class she’s as pretty as a man in drag.”
  56.
  57. The others try to hold back their laughter until the apophis calls out, “Jackie! Would you like to come up to the front?” The Ogre hesitantly gets up from her seat, slowly walking to the front of the classroom, twiddling her fingers in slight shame. “Look closely at my eyes,” Zafiya says to the ogre, presenting to her the vivid blue makeup on her eyelids. “Besides looking pretty, this eyeliner had another special use. Can you tell the class what that is?”
  58.
  59. Jackie’s eyes wanders as she tries fishing around for a few answers, none of which seem remotely plausible for an answer. After a good half-minute, Jackie could do nothing but answer “No, sensei,” behind her flushed face.
  60.
  61. “Insect repellent, class. Insect repellent.” Zafiya replies, dismissing Jackie back to her seat before continuing her lecture. “Now, back then, members of the royal family wore a special kind of makeup, made from a substance that was able to keep the bugs away.” She lets out a giggle before going on to say, “Imagine, the lamia rulers of Egypt looking pretty while fighting off bug bites.”
  62.
  63. As she says it, one of the boys in the class raises his hand. “Um, Ms. Zafiya? I honestly don’t think the kings of Egypt were...lamias.”
  64.
  65. But Zafiya simply wags her finger at the boy with a confident smirk. “Ah, but there’s no evidence that they /weren’t/ lamias, you know.” Having missed the point entirely, she continues on with her lecture. “Now, let that be a little secret for you boys. If you want insects out of your life, wear makeup. Or keep lavender candles in your house, whatever. Believe me, nobody wants to get raped by devil bugs, or beelzebubs. They’re gross. Anyway, be sure to remember all of this, since it’ll be on your--”
  66.
  67. Before finishing up her lecture, she is rudely interrupted by the crackling sound of the PA system. Soon, the crackling is replaced with the sound of a pungi being played over the speakers. Most of the students begin covering their ears, trying to keep the grating, high-pitched sound of the instrument from invading their eardrums. Belle can’t help but grit her teeth as she says, “Lord, what is this noise. It’s so awful.” One person, however, seems to be enjoying the music. At the front of the classroom stands Zafiya, her eyes glaze over as though locked in a trance. And with complete disregard for her students watching her, she begins gyrating her hips, her movements almost hypnotic in their own right. Her fingers begin to dance along her smooth, violet skin, slowly removing her shirt and blouse as she continued her exotic dance, leaving her in little more than her tight skirt and black bra. Even still, her hands begin exploring all along her body--her sides, her stomach, in between her breasts--all the while, she just keeps dancing with the music. Despite all this, the boys are none too surprised at this series of events. These students have seen much stranger things happen with their teacher before.
  68.
  69. “Well, Ms. Rei’s starting up the prank wars again,” Jackie says with a chuckle. She knows exactly what is going on. After all, this kind of thing happens at least once a week. Rei and Zafiya may be roommates, but here, in school, they constantly had it out for each other, both trying to assert their dominance over the other in front of all the students in school. To them, the high school is their battlefield on which they can wage their petty war.
  70.
  71. As the apophis continued her dance to the music, the class door opened, revealing a formally-dressed man, holding a book in one hand. It was Joe, one of the other teachers at the school. Sadly for him, the monster girls at the school found him so average-looking, that many of his students referred to him as “Average Joe.” Others still even refused to dignify him with a name, and simply called him “Anon.”
  72.
  73. “Ms. Zafiya?” Joe called out. “Ms. Rei wanted me to give…you…!” Before he could finish, his eyes were fixated on the lamia’s half-naked form. As he looked on, his face at first became pale, but then flushed red. And before he can decide on what to do next besides nervously staring at his colleague, naked in front of all of her students, the pungi music over the PA comes to a stop. All too soon, Zafiya snaps back into reality, at first confused at her students’ laughter, then embarrassed upon finding the cause to their laughter. As she covers her bare breasts, her eyes catch sight of Joe, his eyes trying desperately to keep contact with hers without gazing down at her supple breasts. Unable to take the tension any longer, Joe backs away into the hallway, saying “I-I’ll just come back later then. Uh, s-see ya!” before running off in a hurry.
  74.
  75. Zafiya, now left alone, looks around her class filled with snickering monster girls. Eventually, tears begin to well up in the girl’s eyes before finally grabbing her shirt and blouse, and dashing out into the hallway, bawling her eyes out.
  76.
  77. The students in her class, feeling downhearted at their teacher’s distress, all shrink back to their desks. All accept Jackie, that is. “Well, Ms. Zafiya’s gone. You know what that means.” She then pulls out her lunch box from her desk. “It’s free study time!” she declares before chowing down on the food within.
  78.
  79. Meanwhile, Rei sits blissfully at her desk, hands clasped comfortably behind her head, and heels resting on top of her desk. Her relaxation seems to come to an end as the door to her office is thrown open. And who would show up at the door but Zafiya, her lips quivering and her cheeks stained with her running makeup. “Oh, there you are,” Rei says in a welcoming tone. “I was wondering when you’d get here.”
  80.
  81. “You went too far this time, Rei!” Zafiya says, sniffling and wiping away another tear after she’s finished.
  82.
  83. “Oh please, Zafiya, you say that every time this happens,” the pharaoh replies.
  84.
  85. “Joe was there! You knew I like him, so why would you—”
  86.
  87. “Calm down, now, Zafiya. I’m sure he’s still keeping an eye out for you. You know how men are.” Rei gave a smirk and a wink at the sniffling lamia in front of her. “Hey, I’ll tell you what,” she adds, getting up from her chair to pet her colleague on the head, “Why don’t we go out to the bar after work tonight? Just you and me, like always.”
  88.
  89. Zafiya looks back at her for only a brief moment before pulling away her pouting face and turning her back on Rei. “Fine. But you’re paying,” she orders before slamming the door behind her as she leaves. Rei gives a small chuckle to her friend’s amusing outburst as she pulls out one of her books from her shelf, entitled ‘The Book of Apophis.’ “Oh, Zafiya. How cute you are.”
  90.
  91. Having recovered from her breakdown, the apophis returns to her classroom, having buttoned her blouse back up and readjusting her shirt, she tells the class, “Sorry you had to see that, everybody. But now we can continue with our class.” Looking over at the back of the classroom, she adds, “So that means you can stop eating your lunch, Jackie.” The ogre chokes on her food at the realization that she has been caught, coughing as she quickly shuts her lunch box.
  92.
  93. “Now then,” Zafiya begins with a smirk cracking on her lips. She is definitely planning something mischievous in that mind of hers. “Who wants to get a little extra credit after school?” Sadly, nobody in the class raises their hand. After a pause, waiting for somebody to respond, she blows out from her lower lip in frustration as she adds, “And 50 bucks?” to which most of the girls in the class raise their hands excitedly. “Now that’s better,” she said. Zafiya knew just how to pull her students in the right direction. More importantly, she knows what she plans to do with Rei tonight. This was going to be a fun night at the bar tonight.
