  1. It was the night before Shadows Eve and all was quiet, well as quiet as the Chem-wastes of Omeda ever are, and 4 men from the Bloody 7th mercenary band waited in the shell of a ruined house in an abandoned mining town across the street from an unassuming warehouse in a small open compound.
  2.
  3.
  4. “Fuck sake what’s taking her so long?” The bulkiest of the men exclaimed “WE, could have cleaned that place out by now”
  5. “Cut the lip Steevo, it’s been 5 minutes” said the man closest to the window in a harsh whisper “Don’t even think about back talking, this came straight from the chief. You want to piss the chief off that’s your choice, but I like my skin where it is, so how about you close that bloody gaping maw of yours and do as we were told” Steevo uttered some choice words under his breath.
  6. “Whatever you say Capt’n” Steevo replied in a less than gracious manner
  7. “Sir” piped up the scraggly looking man in the corner sat on the floor “I know the chief said we were to let the new girl deal with the warehouse but it don’t feel right, letting a pretty little thing like that put herself in harm’s way”
  8. “We all know where you prefer women, Dogman”
  9. “Yeah, well all I’m saying is women ain’t got no rightly place of the field of war” Dogman adjusted his rifle to be led across his lap, so he could better point “and there’s sumthin’ unnatural about this one, she’s fuckin cursed I tell you” He stabbed a finger in the direction the window.
  10. “You’re only pissed because she doesn’t take your shit Dogman” the 4th and smallest man interjected.
  11. “Fuck off, Dover”
  12. “Did I strike a nerve?” a grin plastering Dover’s face
  13. “All of you pack it in, we go in on the signal and I don’t want to hear so much as a peep outta you until we hear the signal. Got it?”
  14. Dogman, Dover and Steevo all chimed with various levels of enthusiasm “Yes, Capt’n Luca”
  15. “Good, glad we’re all clear with one another”

  18. Morrigan slinked through the shadows and found her way to across the compound, very few patrols this late at night it was always this way with the cartels and had been for at least a hundred years, they thought themselves untouchable. Morrigan didn’t care though a job was a job and it wouldn’t be the first or last time she messed with the cartels. Besides this merc band where a group of mostly ex-millers who seemed a pretty disreputable bunch, just her kind of people she smiled to herself, so she may as well make a good first impression. Morrigan ducked behind a bombed-out building just inside the compound and peeked up, a hired gun taking a piss. She’d have to wait for them to pass, not like she couldn’t tear them apart before they knew what was happening, but it would be loud, and very messy, she wouldn’t be able to help herself and she knew it. This was the 3rd bunch of merc's in the past two months she’d attempted to hide amongst. The gun had finished his business and had begun to head back to a truck by the warehouse she hoped the wall and hugged the fence until she was at the edge of the light cast by the metal drum fire. She stopped and took stock of her options, Morrigan mentally kicked herself she should have at least tried to take out the pissing gun quietly. There was three of them, they all seemed to be playing cards on the hood of the truck with the pissing gun furthest from her lent against a wall to the left of the two playing cards. Morrigan hefted her Cutlass, it wasn’t so much a cutlass as an industrial plasma coated chainsaw blade fashioned into a sword and it had taken more lives than it ever could have hoped to in that little lumber mill on Letha. Morrigan swore under her breath and stood up to her full height of 5’10, grabbing her cutlass she hefted it onto her shoulder and moved out into the light.

  21. A blood curdling scream pierced the night followed by several hastily fired shots.
  22. “Is that the signal?” Dover asked
  23. “No but it’s good enough for me let’s go lads”
  24. Luca opened the door to the sound of silence, whoever had fired those shots either hit what he was aiming for or is on his way to the void and Luca had a funny feeling it was the latter and he didn’t like that made him more uneasy than the former.

  26. Stepping into the light the soldiers were greeted with the imposing and hauntingly beautiful form of the Morrigan. Clad in little but a dirty leather corset and some camo cargo pants, with her Raven hair tied back and braided she was not at all what them hired guns were expecting. That was all she needed. With a hop and a skip, she was upon the first of them and drove her Cutlass into the man’s neck, warm blood plastered her face and she smiled, the first kill of the night always got her giddy, but she didn’t have time to savour the moment else the shock would wear off the other two. Almost regretfully she pulled the blade from the guns throat and span around to her left, along the front of the truck and brought her Cutlass wide in a full spin catching the man who was still in shock from what he had just witnessed severing his arm clean off as he tried to jump backwards. The man had but moment to scream before he was silenced by a kick hard enough to shatter his skull that slammed his head against the grill of the truck. By now the pissing man had come to his senses and raised his hand gun to fire at this demon woman. The first shot sailed clean over Morrigan’s head by a few feet, she turned and pushed herself off the truck towards the pissing man who shot twice more on of the bullets gazed her arm but before he could fire a fourth shot she slammed into him knocking the gun out of his hand. She grabbed him by the throat and held him aloft for a moment, he began to piss himself before she snapped his neck and threw him to the floor. She spat on his corpse “Dirty little bastard” she said the to the dead man with a floppy neck and wet pants.
