Lore - Torterras living in the Crystal Caves in the Torren Region have gained power from the crystal environment, causing the unique energy from the crystals to alter their appearance and behavior. The fairy typing comes from the turtle deity-like kaiju 'Gamera' (who is essentially a God), and the mystical aesthetic the crystals have on the design. Designed to be an indirect counterpart to Delta Tyranitar.
