  1. By the time I am writing this motivation letter, I have not yet undergone the Nephrology subject on my course. I will, however, be taking it by May, which means that if I end up on the Nephrology department, I will (hopefully) be ready to grasp most of its concepts and have the ability to understand what is being done, how it is being done, and why is it being done. The main reason I chose Nephrology as a possible option is because I have high expectations for this medical field.

  3. Just like Neurology or Endocrinology, Nephrology strikes me as a truly understanding-based field. I have come to notice more and more that some fields are more heavy on memorization, while others rely more and deductive thinking. The latter ones feel the most rewarding when talking to patients, and from what I studied in Physiology, I have reasons to believe that this will be the case in Nephrology.

  5. Furthermore, kidney pathology can’t be understood as simply a local, but rather a systemic problem. They are the target and the source of diverse pathologies, which means broad pathology and pharmacology knowledge is required. I am guilty of losing interest when the material is too repetitive, and the fact Nephrology is gifted with so much variety of cases is a constant source of interest.

  7. All-in-all, I feel that Nephrology will be a rewarding class to take, and also a fundamental field for me to master. It provides me with constantly different cases and with material that keeps me actively pursuing a deeper knowledge and understanding of underlying mechanisms.
