- Another voice, however, did. No, it didn't 'reach' his ears—it was as though he did not need ears to 'hear' it. It was a voice, calm and sonorous, deep within his head. A voice he recognized at once as the Master's. Was he speaking? No, his body remained slumped, his lips unmoving, his eyes closed. Nonetheless he somehow communicated with JoJo on a deeper plane, past the minor senses, in a way that JoJo could not help but 'feel'.

- "JoJo. Courage and valor become foolhardiness in a flash. You know what you must do."
- He knew. He knew. He hated it, but he knew.
- He seized the Master and hefted him onto his shoulders. He and F.F. fled the chamber, scrambling down the stairs and toward the ship outside. The last thing he heard, echoing behind him, was Dio's voice:
- "My, my. JoJo scampering away in fright. What a succulent sight; I do believe I'll 'savor' it."
