Hashihime Q/A info

Information pulled from the supplementary materials book, the homepage Q/A, and also Twitter Q/As.


Tamamori-specific:
- AU Tamamori is smart, and is knowledgeable in medicine and in German
- Au Tamamori has the Hashihime. He can't jump back in time during the fight with the Shopkeeper because he's in an illusion. After that, he decided to not do it as to not leave Kaoru alone
- Tamamori's attraction to older women is something he conjured by himself when he noticed that he'd never fallen in love with anyone
- Tamamori came to realize he had loved Minakami all along as he watched Minakami read a book in his shop


Minakami-specific:
- The sutra in the back of Minakami's notebook means, when put in layman's terms, "I want it to hurry up and become sunny", and therefore also meaning "I hope the hashihime's eyes will stop working"
- Minakami's cat has the Hashihime, so Minakami kept him around in case something were to happen to Tamamori and he accidentally were to disappear
- Tamamori's mother felt that the ritual(Minakami killing her as sacrifice to the Hashihime) was going to fail, and also knew that Minakami had special feelings for Tamamori. Because of that, she took out Tamamori's umbrella so that Tamamori wouldn't go out on rainy days.
- Curiously, it seems also that Minakami's parents also seem to have perceived Minakami had "special feelings" for Tamamori.
- Minakami and Tamamori will start to live together eventually. Tamamori is not aware that everyone in the village knows about their relationsip
- Snow falls under "rainy days rule" that Minakami and Tamamori have
- Minakami also tells Madam he's fine bottoming for Tamamori
- Minakami resembles his mother and he got his eyes from his dad
- If Tamamori were to die first of old age, Minakami would go back in time, giving his memories to his younger self. He would repeat this over and over, but if Tamamori were to find out about it, he would put an end to it, and Minakami would live out his normal lifespan
- Minakami's sword skills came from a past life
- Minakami's fish face is a result of Tamamori's past memory resurfacing
- Minakami's father wasn't into the whole crossdressing thing unlike Madam, so he didn't force it on Minakami. He did ban him with interacting on the opposite sex, however.
- Minakami's parents and the village answer to Tamamori and Minakami getting together was "it makes sense, they have always been together"
- Tamamori also seems to be the only who who is not aware of the fact everyone knows him and Minakami are together
- While on his way to save Tamamori, Minakami saw an unknown man, and because of that he expected "future Tamamori" to take revenge on him at once point
- There aren't any more stores of rainwater after Minakami's route, as per Tamamori's request. However, they secretly stored the first rain that fell after they came home.


Kawase-specific:
- Ikeda didn't sexually abuse Kawase. Specifically, Ikeda wanted Kawase to have sex with children FOR him because Ikeda was too old and couldn't do it anymore. Kawase killed him to protect Katou-kun and because he knows the awful nature of child abusers.
- In order to better help Hanazawa in his route, Kawase wanted to become pediatrician since he learns from the shopkeeper's memory that becoming a military doctor would only do further harm.
- In a world were Tamamori disappears, Kawase would look for him but eventually try to forget him. Hanazawa would look for him after the war
- Kawase would, in general, be fine in a world where both Hanzawa and Tamamori disappear, still becoming a pediatrician instead of a military doctor.
- Kawase hates the dark, so he keeps his windows open at night. When the moon isn't out, he lights a lamp and leaves it on when he sleeps
- The barbital kawase uses on tamamori is actually something kawase uses nearly every night to get to sleep,  because he hasn't gotten over his trauma yet
- Kawase would keep quiet about Minakami and Tamamori in Minakami's route, serve under Hanazawa, and in his final moments, think of Tamamori, one last time
- Kawase will coach Tamamori for over two years in his route, but he still won't able to get into uni so he becomes an editor
- The collar was for Katou, not Kawase. There may be one for Kawase, though.
- Kawase vomited because he was forced to touch Katou for a long period of time, not because of Ikeda
- Because of the memories of the shopkeeper he learned that he Tamamori was in love with Minakami. If Tamamori wanted a threesome, he would be OK with it.

Hanazawa-specific:
- Hanazawa never saw Tamamori sexually before the mana transfer thing
- Hanazawa's father became extremely angry when he realized that the injuries inflicted on Kawase were becoming sexual in manner
- Hanazawa's father didn't want Hanazawa to hang out with Tamamori because he didn't want him to be influenced by the boy's lazy personality and habit of seeing illusions
- Hanazawa's fiance is in love with him, but he has no feelings for her. The pink futon he possesses is hers


Professor-specific
- When Professor lost his sight, Hitotsurugi paid a large sum of money to Ikeda so that he would find an eye for Professor, but this only furthered Ikeda's perversion, as he kidnapped and killed children for their eyes (which never fit the Professor anyway). The Hikawa family was completely unaware of this.
- Professor was actually considering committing suicide as a kid, but didn't mention it for fear of Tamamori thinking he was too "heavy"
- It seems Professor is destined to die in the earthquake (Except his route), therefore the shopkeeper didn't see him as a problem
- However in his route, he develops a weapon capable of stopping earthquakes, which causes him to win the noble prize and stop WW2 from happening
- Tamamori of the last world and the original Tamamori of Professor's route route have significant different personalities from the one in the other routes.



Kaoru-specific:
- Kaoru's actual name is Kaoru. His name in-game is written using katakana because, as he lost his parents at a young age, he was unable to explain how it was written to Tamamori.
- Kaoru is bad with loud voices and thing that can surprise him (a typical symptom of PTSD). Also, he can see ghosts.

Shopkeeper specific:
- Shopkeeper had pneumonia, he got it in the war, Tamamori won't get sick
- The store came to be called Umebachidou because Minakami loves dried plums, and the shopkeeper thought it would make Minakami happy and draw him to the store.
- Shopkeeper didn't realize he loved Minakami until after the time jump.
- In the final route, after hanging his friends, the shopkeeper went to live in the capital while checking on Tamamori from time to time. The shopkeeper directly killed Minakami, Kawase, and Hanazawa.
- Shopkeeper (AU?) originally wanted to introduce Kaoru's to Tamamori, but he came home at the wrong time

Sub-character specific:
- The shop becomes the regiment's secret base in Minakami and Kawase's routes (May be why they survive the earthquake?)
- Everyone in the cafe knows Meiko is a boy
- Naoshi will start to teach the boys stuff once he starts school
- Madam kicking out Tamamori was a ploy to get him and Minakami closer, but Tamamori got lost and Minakami couldn't find him that day
- Grandma has a spiritual link to Tamamori and the shopkeeper

About the Hashihime's power and origins:

Hashihime were women sacrificed in a ritual to protect bridges. When a bridge is built, they get someone to marry a blind woman and tell her that he was chosen as sacrifice. She offers to take his place and becomes a hashihime after dying. Since they're blind, they borrow the eyes of their host.

To prevent disaster striking when you help someone on rainy days, you can either kill that person or someone they rely on. Hashihime also get jealous if you get close to women when it's raining.

Hashihime prioritize past hosts because they're younger. They transfer once a son is born because they think it's the same person. If the host is killed they transfer to the killer. If the host dies of natural causes, they ascend. If you're crossdressing when it's raining and look into a mirror, it transfers to the nearest male or ascends if there aren't any. Hashihime are inactive when you close your eyes.

When Juuroku Bridge and Suidou Bridge were built, they chose the family with the most water containers to become the host.

Hanazawa: He would be gentlemanly (lit. escort) and tell Tamamori to start from the chocolate side. Right when they get to the middle, he would let go (because he doesn’t get the point at all).
Professor: He closes his eyes and waits for Tamamori to come closer to him… But the face he makes is so atrocious that Tamamori, dumbfounded, lets go of the pocky.
