  1. Pinkity goes here
  2. >Day knit one, pearl two in Equestria.
  3. >Once upon a time, you worked for Rarity, one of the most up and coming fashion designers in Equestria.
  4. >Technically you still do but-
  5. >*CRASH*, the sounds of falling shelves and their contents make themselves heard from downstairs.
  6. >"Oh dear, what a horrible mess... Oh well!"
  7. >Hooves make their way upstairs as your boss enters the work room where you were currently affixing buttons onto a 80's style blazer for ponies.
  8. >"See Anonymous? I told you I had another roll of turquoise fabric somewhere, now we can finish that order."
  9. >The turquoise fabric was to be used for a romper dress to go with the raspberry colored blazer you were currently working on.
  10. >To say Raritys sense of fashion changed would be an understatement.
  11. >However it allowed for her to expand her clientele base even if she lost a few of the wealthier ones who preferred a more conservative style.
  12. >Ever since the spell to return the cutie marks of the elements backfired, you've been dealing with the attitude changes of all your friends.
  13. >Twilight went crazy(er) and even weeks after the event is still frantically trying to fix things even though her friends have all adjusted quite well.
  14. >Applejack still worked the farm from dusk 'til dawn but now with the help of all her animals who pitched in and made work easier on the apple clan.
  15. >Rainbow Dashes new found work ethic allowed her to properly manage all her training and weather team duties which has helped her become an even greater flyer than before as well as a proper mentor to little Scootaloo who, who was only two.
  16. >You're actually not sure how old those kids are but you know they're not that young.
  17. >Fluttershys newfound "in your face interface" has made her not only a caretaker of animals, but also an obedience trainer now that she's no longer pushed around by sad eyed critters and that little bastard bunny of hers.
  18. >The greatest benefit of mismatched cutie marks was seen in Pinkie, the living dynamo of a pony had actually calmed down and was now known for planning parties that catered to even the most uptight members of high society.
  19. >Sure she could still get down with the best of them, but at least now the insanity that was a pinkie party was reigned in enough to not be a nuisance to ponies in the next town over.
  20. >Rarity however? She drew the short straw in your opinion.
  21. >You always admired her classy demeanor and impeccable cleanliness, even if it was a bit trying at times.
  22. >Of course there were things you'd change about her if you could but adapting to those flaws was something you'd be willing to do because of how much you loved her, even if you never had that courage to tell her.
  23. >Loved.
  24. >It's funny how the word accurately describes your feelings toward her and yet it seems wrong to use it in the past tense like that.
  25. >You sigh and resume the task at hand.
  26. >"Are you alright Anonymous? You look a little down. I know! How about some of that iced tea you made yesterday? We sure could use a break."
  27. >Before you can even respond, she's already bolted out of the room and the sounds of another crash ring out from down below.
  28. >"Whoopsie... Well I can clean that up late- OW!"
  29. >Even if she was a bit clumsy now, you haven't heard Rarity hurt herself as of yet and you drop what you're doing to go check up on her.
  30. >Coming down the stairs, you see the flood of fabric and threads strewn about the floor and laying in the middle of it all is Rarity.
  31. "You okay Rarara?"
  32. >She smiles briefly at the nickname, she used to despise that nickname, but her smile quickly becomes a teary eyed pout as she looks at you.
  33. >"No. I twisted my back hoof and it hurts to stand on."
  34. >Kicking any debris out of your way, you rush over to her side and examine the afflicted hoof to find it beginning to swell but otherwise unbroken.
  35. "I've seen worse, but I definitely think we should get some ice on that."
  36. >Scooping up the marshmallow pony into your arms you head back upstairs with her as she giggles and occasionally hisses in pain, you remember how she used to hate being carried like this but would swoon dramatically nonetheless.
  37. >You reach her room and set her down gently on the bed as her hair makes an audible *pomf* when her head comes to rest on it.
  38. >"Wah! What are we gon-"
  39. "Finish that sentence and I'm gonna shave your cat."
  40. >A shocked expression is locked on her face but she remains silent thanks to your semi empty threat.
  41. >You may have shaved the little shits tail once because that fucking cat wouldn't stop knocking things off your desk.
  42. >Rarity refused to talk to you until it grew back.
  43. >"You know Anonymous, most stallions buy a girl dinner first before they shave her kitty!"
  44. >Looking over your shoulder briefly, you spy Rarity on her back, with her tail tucked between her legs, striking a "sexy" pose while giving you an innocent little pout.
  45. >This fucking mare man, you swear to her Demi gods.
  46. "Yeah... I'll be right back."
  47. >With that you head down to the kitchen while ignoring her giggles as best you can.
  48. >It being fairly late anyway, you flip the shops sign to closed as you turn to head back to the kitchen for an ice pack you hear Rarity speak up.
  49. >Grabbing an ice pack from the freezer, the pitcher of tea and two glasses you return to Raritys room and find her trying to lay her afflicted leg as gently as she can down onto a pillow.
  50. >Setting your goods down on the nightstand, you fill up the two glasses with tea before you place a hand under her shank and gingerly lift it up while using your other hand to set the pillow under her leg.
  51. >Once she's comfortable you take the ice pack and hover it over her ankle.
  52. "This is gonna sting for a bit, but its gonna help reduce the swelling and the cold will numb some of the pain, got it?"
  53. >"Will you hold my hoof? It helps me keep my mind of the pain."
  54. >Those pleading, sapphire eyes are completely unfair and despite your reddening cheeks, you take hold of her hoof anyway.
  55. >You slowly put the ice pack in its place while Rarity whines in protest.
  56. "You okay?"
  57. >She takes in a sharp breath and nods her head in response.
  58. >At least she isn't crying, even if there's more than a little discomfort showing on her face.
  59. >You take a seat on the edge of her bed and hand her a glass which she levitates up to her lips.
  60. >"You do make a very good tea Anon, perhaps Sweetie and her friends can sell some during the summer. Oh and we can bake them little snacks to go with it! Doesn't that sound like fun?"
  61. >You merely sigh as you take a sip from your glass and set it back down on the nightstand.
  62. >Placing her drink beside yours she leans up to speak with you.
  63. >"Anonymous dear, are you quite alright?"
  64. "I'm fine."
  65. >That's a damn lie but thats never stopped you before.
  66. >"No you're not, you seem like your bothered by something and I've been noticing it for a while now. Won't you talk to me about it darling?"
  67. >For the briefest moment, you felt like it was the old Rarity laying next to you.
  68. >Before this mess started, you'd never been this close to her outside of the shop floor and work area and you suddenly find yourself feeling warm.
  69. "I-it's nothing really. Just, just forget about it."
  70. >"If you don't tell me what's wrong dear, I'm going to shave your cat."
  71. >You can't help but smile at her antics for once.
  72. "Rarity, please. I don't own a cat."
  73. >"I know, but I thought you could use a smile."
  74. "Thanks, I might as well get this off my chest now while the mood is right."
  75. >She shifts on to her side for a better view of you.
  76. "Alright, the reason I've been acting so strangely is because, uh, I'm in love with you Rarity, or at least I was."
  77. >"Y-you were in love with me? Why didn't you come out with it sooner then? When did you stop being in love with me?"
  78. "I just felt like it would get in the way of our professional relationship since you're my boss and everything. As for when I stopped? It happened after this whole cutie mark mix up. I'm glad you all were able to get back to your old jobs with new attitudes but that really only extends to the other girls. You just changed so much and it's like you're not the same Rarity I fell in love with, so I guess I've just been bitter about that is all." You hang your head in shame of the childish way you'd been acting.
  79. >"I don't believe you. I think you're still quite in love with me."
  80. "Heh. What makes you so sure of that?"
  81. >"You're still holding my hoof, you have been this whole time and your grip has only grown tighter."
  82. >Sure enough, you look down at your hand to find the traitorous bastard locked firmly around her hoof.
  83. >Just as you're about to let go, she takes hold of your hand with her other hoof.
  84. >"Please darling, can't we just sit like this for a while longer?"
  85. >Words failing you, you simply nod your head a couple of times and reposition yourself to be sitting with your legs on the bed and back against the headrest.
  86. >Time passes like this without a word spoken between the two of you and only occasional adjustment for comfort.
  87. >At some point Rarity crawled under your arm and laid her her head and your lap so you began to stroke her mane with your free hand, the other never letting go of her hoof until she's fallen asleep.
  88. >Feeling tired yourself, you look up to a clock to find its almost midnight now so you slowly remove Raritys head from its place on your lap onto her pillow.
  89. >Watching her sleep so peacefully for a moment, you lean down to give her a good night kiss but stop just before your lips touch hers.
  90. >You hover over to her cheek but refrain yet again and the same happens when you try to kiss her forehead, although that had more to do with her horn than anything.
  91. "Goodnight sweet marshmallow." You whisper quietly.
  92. >You grab a glass of tea from the night stand and finish it off before grabbing the supplies you brought to put them back in the kitchen.
  93. >As you walk out her door you hear a voice call out to you.
  94. >"You know Anonymous, that was my glass you drank from.
  95. >You look at the glass you had just emptied and right above a pony lip mark on the rim was your own.
  96. >Looking back at Rarity, she has tired smile on and yawns cutely before turning her head and shutting her eyes for some more sleep.
  97. >Blushing once again, you return the items to their rightful places and lock the boutique behind you as you exit and head back home.
  98. >Tonight was a good night.
