  1. A disease that is wide spread and is known for its high kill rates among people, Aids, rather known as HIV has swept the nation for decades. In 1959, the first case of HIV was discovered in an African male whom resided in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This was the earliest and first case of HIV ever that was recorded by the drawing of blood. A jump from 1959 to 1981, The New York times published their first press on the information of HIV headlining, “Rare cancer seen in 41 homosexuals”. The article was based on information from Center for disease control. It is odd to see the open word used for Homosexuals at that time, issuing a new band of problems for that community of men. In 1982 a voluntary community was formed to help educate people of how it was transmitted and opened more awareness to the issue. Recorded in history, Princess Diana shook hands with a person who was living with HIV, breaking a stigma among people in 1987. Dating in 1993, Location: South Africa, HIV infections double in one year. 1999, HIV became the worlds 4th biggest killer, ranking up there with heart disease and strokes.
  2. In 2001 an Indian drug manufacturer cut the prices in half for HIV treatment. Doris Ghana was supported by the global fund support to help treat her HIV in 2003. She now leads a healthy and functional life. 2007 the deaths related to aids falls from 2 million down to 1.9 million, showing a sign of progress through the spread of awareness and prevention. 2009 President Obama lifts a 22-year-old ban on immigration for people with HIV, giving hope to those who were once held to a standard of being trapped. In 2011 a single tablet treatment was released, a pill is taken once a day to help treat patients with HIV. Come 2015, New World Health Organization guidelines recommend treatment as soon as HIV is discovered.
  3. The psychological challenges people entail that are diagnosed with HIV face the prospect of real and anticipated losses, their quality of life lowers and the fear of death increases. Physical decline overall and having to cope with uncertainty. HIV attacks cells which help your overall health to attack off another virus. A common cold can become much worse and the human body is more prone to getting sick. People with HIV are at higher risks for cancers. It uses the cells called CD4, the ones which it attacks, to create more of the virus thus the condition becoming worse enough that the doctor declares HIV in the individual.
