  1. The Venetian Chronicles: Ash DeFlemsey
  2. Yuuko: (fumbling with the camera before mounting it on a tripod. Before adjusting the focus on the camera and Clearing her throat) this is Council envoy Yuuko Shirakawa, agent of the dragon, and historian for the archives in Dublin Ireland. As part of the Chronicles initiative, I am interviewing active agents from the 21st century so that future generations may better understand the context in which events are taking place. This session is being recorded on 03-14-2016 in Greenfield Ireland, at the Green residence.
  3. Yuuko: could you please state your full name, date of birth, affiliation and rank.
  4. Ash: Ashleigh DeFlemsey, born thirteenth of October, nineteen ninety-one. Illuminati, and… nnnnot sure my rank is one officially on the books. I’m an engineer for Cerberus Solutions now, though.
  5. Yukko: Can you tell us about your family?
  6. Ash: Shitty people. My mother was a nurse with no backbone, and my father was a lawyer who wanted to break into politics.
  7. Yuuko: Where did you grow up?
  8. Ash: The suburbs of Warwick, in Rhode Island.
  9. Yuuko: How would you describe your childhood?
  10. Ash: Not… fondly. Before I was about age thirteen, my dad constantly tried to treat me as a political prop. ...I put a stop to that by correcting him on live television, and after that they neglected me to a borderline-criminal extent. Combine all that with incessant bullying in school, and… yeah. You get the idea.
  11. Yuuko: How were you first introduced to the secret world?
  12. Ash: The bee blew up my bedroom when I ate it. After that… all the big four factions started trying to get me to bite. I went with the Illuminati, largely for security reasons.
  13. Yuuko: did you have any contact (either directly or indirectly) with your society before your powers awakened?
  14. Ash: I used to run an online library. Textbooks, mostly. I got a handful of suspicious bits of correspondence, some of which I know now to have been the Lumins trying to clamp down on me. Some others I suspect were Dragon efforts to do the same, but I’ve got no proof.
  15. Yuuko: Does anima sensitivity run in your family or are you the only one to develop powers?
  16. Ash: I haven’t heard of anything of the like before me, so I assume it’s just me.
  17. Yuuko: Can you tell us what a normal day looks like for you?
  18. Ash: It’s… pretty freeform these days. My nine-to-five consists of juggling whatever specific projects Cerberus has got me on, as well as whatever personal projects I might be working on at the time. ...Pretty sure the only thing that’s not classified there is the custom smartglasses I make for people. Internet connection, face recognition, vitals detection, thermal vision… it’s that kinda gadget.
  19. Yuuko: has your work for your society ever brought you into contact with anyone who would be considered historically significant (world leaders, celebrities, scientist and engineers.)
  20. Ash: Uhm… it’s hard to say that right now. Nobody currently famous, but going forward who can say, some of them might become famous.
  21. Yuuko: Have you ever seen an event reported in the media and known that it was a lie and if so can you tell us what really happened?
  22. Ash: Aside from the obvious, stuff like the Tokyo incident… well, okay, this is a little tangential to the question, but I think it fits in the ballpark. You ever see something just suddenly BE famous, and you have no clue why or where it came from? That can often be something one of the big factions are pushing for whatever reason. Dragon, usually, but the Illuminati are no strangers to it. Nor Orochi, but with them it’s usually obvious their hands are in it.
  23. Yuuko: What was the last event you can remember that shook both the secret world and the mundane equally?
  24. Ash: Equally? It’s… nigh-on impossible to say, most secret worlders have it in their job description to make sure to contain things. The most recent that might’ve sent ripples through both, albeit in different ways, might’ve been the move on Orochi Tower. We found stuff, but Orochi… responded. I wasn’t there, though, others can probably say more.
  25. Yuuko: Have you ever participated in an event considered historically important to the mundane world and if so was it on behalf of your society
  26. Ash: Does ruining my father’s political career when I was thirteen count? I mean, it was news at the time, I think on the national level. Even these days you see it crop up every so often, when someone like Cracked decides to have some fun. You know, ‘Six Political Careers Destroyed In Hilarious Ways’, that sorta thing. Beyond that? Nah, not personally.
  27. Yuuko: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us agent DeFlemsey.
  28. Ash: No problem.
