  1. Jonathan wakes up. He grabs a toothbrush and toothpaste, then goes downstairs.
  2.
  3. /It is a simple interior, a kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a table.
  4.
  5. His mother and father are there. He eats a simple breakfast, and has a brief conversation with his parents:
  6.
  7. Mother (Light-pink, Verdana): Mornin' johnny. Oatmeal's on the table, I gotta run, Allison will be here to pick me up soon for work. No more trouble at school today!
  8.
  9. /a honking is heard from outside
  10.
  11. Mother: That's her now! I have to go.
  12.
  13. /father looks up
  14.
  15. Father (Gray, Times New Roman) looking over after having been looking out the window: What's this about trouble?
  16.
  17. Jonathan (Black, Arial): Oh, Jim was messing with a substitute. I laughed at it and had been talking with him, so I got in trouble, too.
  18.
  19. Father: That kid's not going anywhere in life. Don't let him hold you back.
  20.
  21. Jonathan: We all know, and he won't.
  22.
  23. Father: He best not. It's 7:45, the bus should be here soon. Don't be late.
  24.
  25. Jonathan: I won't.
  26.
  27. The same white tutorial text is shown, saying to leave the house, head right down the street, and to wait for the bus to show up. The player leaves the house, and if they try to head the wrong direction the same white text will display saying "You need to go to school. Your family expects it of you.". The neighborhood is pleasant, simple houses with small green lawns out front. A couple of houses have white picket fences. They're all basically the same style of house, with little variation. A couple on the street have cars parked out front.
  28.
  29. When the player gets to the bus stop, they will be paused and two other characters will come around the corner and walk up to them.
  30.
  31. Jim (Blue, Comic Sans): Hey!
  32.
  33. Henry (Green, Courier): Morning.
  34.
  35. Jonathan: Hey. What's going on?
  36.
  37. Jim: Not much. Lookin' forward to my lunch date with the principle.
  38.
  39. Henry: Yeah, I heard about what you pulled. I've heard of students heckling the subs before, but I haven't heard of a sub actually screaming at a student. What'd you even do?
  40.
  41. Jim: I hardly even did anything! Dude was just wound really tight.
  42.
  43. Jonathan: It was hardly nothing. You made fun of him for being bald, and when he was talking about his cat and showed us a picture, you said it was an ugly cat.
  44.
  45. Henry: Jesus.
  46.
  47. Jim and Jonathan: It was pretty good.
  48.
  49. /The bus pulls up. The two others board it, and the white text appears again telling you to do the same.
  50.
  51. /You are deposited at the interior entrance to their school. There is a simple linoleum tile floor, and rows of lockers. The main hallway runs left and right of the entrance, and has a hallway going straight from the entrance forming a T shape. There's a few other students loitering by the lockers.
  52.
  53. Henry: Alright. I'm heading to class early, I'll see you at lunch.
  54.
  55. Jim: I won't. Later, nerds.
  56.
  57. /The white text instructs you to go right and then enter Room 205. If you attempt to enter another room or go down the wrong hallway, it pops up saying "There is nothing for you there. Go to room 205 - your peers expect you there".
  58.
  59. /Just outside the class, a female student talks with two others. As you approach, she speaks to you
  60.
  61. Olivia (Pink, Arial Black): Hey, John. Before class right quick, could you help me with one problem on the homework that I didn't understand?
  62.
  63. Johnathan: O-oh, hey Olivia. Um, yeah, I can sure. I mean, I sure can.
  64.
  65. Olivia: Hah, thanks.
  66.
  67. Johnathan (italics): Jesus that was rough.
  68.
  69. /The door opens when you interact with it. It opens to a classroom, with four rows of five desks. A couple of generically modeled people of similar age are in the class. About five desks are empty. The white text comes up, and says "Take a seat. Third row, second from the left." If you try to sit in any of the other seats it says "Sit in your seat. It's where Olivia expects you."
  70.
  71. /A couple of seconds after you sit down, Olivia enters the room. She comes over to your desk with a piece of paper in hand and puts it on your desk.
  72.
  73. Olvia: Hey, so first, I want to ask-
  74.
  75. /The electronic sound of the bell ringing can be heard
  76.
  77. Olivia: Oh, shoot. I'll ask after class.
  78.
  79. Jonathan (italics): What was she gonna ask?
  80.
  81. /The teacher walks in the door, and begin writing on the whiteboard.
  82.
  83. Jonathan (italics): Holy shit this class cannot end quick enough.
  84.
  85. /The sound of the door opening can be heard. A couple of students walk in late.
  86.
  87. Jonathan (italics): I wonder if those guys are ever on time. What time is it, anyways?
  88.
  89. /The white text says "Do not worry about what time it is."
  90.
  91. At this point, the player is free to look around the room. The clock is in the back, but if you look that way you see a tall-ish pure-black figure, roughly humanoid, though with arms that extend a bit further than normal arms might. It's eyes consist of two black, flat circles. It's looking forward, essentially at the teacher. As you look at it for a second or two, it turns it's head to look at you.
  92.
  93. /The Observers approaches your desk. When it is standing just four or five feet from you, the entire room seems to "stretch" away, growing more distant very quickly until it is not visible any longer. It leaves you along with the creature.
  94.
  95. Observer (White, Andale Mono): You can see me?
  96.
  97. Jonathan: What in the hell?
  98.
  99. Observer: You should not be able to. It is strange that you can, but it does not especially concern me.
  100.
  101. Jonathan: Who are you?
  102.
  103. Observer: It's of little importance to you. I am the one who watches and maintains you all.
  104.
  105. Jonathan: Are you god?
  106.
  107. Observer: You could say that, though it might be a little bit reductionist.
  108.
  109. Jonathan: Why are you in my classroom?
  110.
  111. Observer: This is just one instance I have running. I am not singularly here or now, but this is one of my Vantages.
  112.
  113. Jonathan: Oh god, what?
  114.
  115. Observer: It would be tedious to maintain the simulacrum if I could only view it at one point at a time, so we have ensured that it can be viewed from many points to ensure that all of it's facets may be observed.
  116.
  117. Jonathan: The simulacrum? You mean this is all fake?
  118.
  119. Observer: Yes, we designed your universe as a simulation using certain specific rules to explore the meta-physical interactio- You know, the specifics might be a little over your head.
  120.
  121. Jonathan: So my entire life has just been made up?
  122.
  123. Observer: Well, we didn't design it by hand or anything, it came about on it's own using our set up parameters. It'd better to say that it was generated.
  124.
  125. Jonathan: But... then what does it mean?
  126.
  127. Observer: I don't know. I'm just here to make sure it all works. We aren't supposed to make our presences known to our Simulants, but it intrigues me that you can see me while I'm here masked. Tell you what, I won't erase this instance, and I won't roll it back. I'll let this happen, because I want to see what happens. Maybe now that you know about the Simulacrum, you'll be able to use it to some degree?
  128.
  129. Jonathan: What do you mean?
  130.
  131. Observer: I can see in my records that your father taught you to swim by pushing you in the deep end. Seems as good a strategy as any.
  132.
  133. /The world "shrinks", undoing the effect from earlier, and you are back in your classroom. However, now the vaporwave effect is applied to everything. You look around.
  134.
  135. Teacher (Green, Palatino): Jonathan, are you alright? You look panicked.
  136.
  137. Jonathan: I don't know, I just-
  138.
  139. /He is cut off, as the world shrinks again, this time leaving him on a black pane with a white path, leading to the first section.
