Slappy- Bus Dream

“I remember I was watching trees roll past the bus window,” Willow continued. “Suddenly, the trees whizzed by faster. I realized the bus had picked up speed.”
Willow spun her juice glass tensely between her hands. “The ride became very bumpy. I bounced up and down. Once or twice, I felt myself bouncing out of my seat.
“In the dream, I shut my eyes. I gritted my teeth. My hands were clasped so hard in my lap, they ached. Faster. The bus picked up more speed and began to zigzag from one side of the street to the other.
“I heard horns honking. I heard people shouting out in the street.
“I stared out the bus window as the bus rocketed past my house. It swung around a corner with such a deafening squeal, I had to cover my ears.
“I gripped the back of the seat in front of me and struggled to stay in my seat as the bus rocked harder. Then the brakes screeched and we just missed ramming into a car. I was thrown hard against the window. I thought we were going to turn over!
“Finally, I found my voice. I opened my mouth and started to scream. It was so real. I didn’t know I was dreaming. I thought it was really happening.
“ ‘Stop! Please STOP!’ I wailed. ‘Stop the bus! I want off! STOP!’
“ The bus stopped with a hard bump. I was thrown to my feet. I stumbled into the aisle. I was screaming at the driver. ‘Let me OFF! Let me OFF!’
“I could only see the back of his head. I heard a cold, shrill laugh. And then slowly, the driver turned around to face me. And it was Slappy!
“Slappy, laughing his head off, his eyes rolling in his head. He gripped the wheel with both hands and bounced up and down in the driver’s seat, laughing and cackling.
“I stood there in the aisle, staring at him in shock. And then he turned his head back to the windshield and started to drive again. The bus roared as it picked up speed.
“And then everything went crazy. The bus jolted hard.
“A deafening crasssshhh sent me stumbling down the aisle. I fell to my knees.
“I screamed in fright. I pulled myself to my feet. And now Slappy stood in front of me. He stared hard at me, and his evil grin grew wider.
“He raised both hands high. And the bus began to break apart. The seats flew to pieces. The windows all shattered. Everything around me broke apart, pieces flying everywhere. Like a jigsaw puzzle being ripped apart.
And Slappy waved his hands again, and I went flying. I flew right out of the bus, into the sky, screaming all the way.
“I woke up screaming,” Willow finished.
