The latest episode of HB states there have been wars occurring in Hell, so its more likely there is no unifying military hierarchy in Hell like a traditional nation-state but something more akin to a feudal kingdom with competing dukes and lords fighting over claims while having to pay lip-service to their King (Lucifer). With that in mind, the closest there might be to a 'hell military' might be whatever force Lucifer makes use of.

  12. No man rules alone, even a powerful individual like Lucifer would have a retinue of advisors and the like. The same goes for some kind of personal army loyal to him, to enforce his will.

  14. Thus the question is what kind of military force does Lucifer use? Is it similar to the organisation of a modern military or is it something similar to a feudal army with only a small core force of elite soldiers with the remainder being drawn from a, for lack of a better term, peasant militia?

  16. I'd wager he has a sort of praetorean guard around himself and his family, who then in turn are trusted with raising and organizing their own forces. He's supposed to be a bit of a goofball and he runs an amusement park, I can't see him managing a large army directly if he doesn't have to. Assuming Paimon exists in this universe, he probably has that guy's forces at his disposal too.

  24. In peacetime (i.e., before the Final Battle between Heaven and Hell), Hells forces are probably divided and under the service of the various demonic royals. There's probably some sort of "for show" military force that's more about looking officious and intimidating than having an actual battlefield role, while the various divisions of Hell are kept secret from Sinners (who'll be about as useful as cannon fodder, and will most likely not be fighting).
  25. A considerable proportion of the army is probably in Wrath, and the rest effectively function as private armies for the Seven Princes, and whichever thralls or lackeys they entrust with having an army.
  26. We also have to consider the possibility that a large portion of the forces are actually some kind of golems - animated suits of armor, elementals, etc.

  28. As for their equipment, well, probably highly eclectic. They mostly rely on magic, but are rather partial to firearms as well. Blitzo uses a flintlock as his personal sidearm, so we can expect similar odd choices some of the higher ranks as well.

Also, imps are probably also cannon fodder, just one level above sinners, as they're actually intended to be deployed during the War, so a good portion of them has probably done some sort of basic training and was conscripted, with a lot of them being reservists that can be called upon should the realm enter a state of war, à la.Switzerland.

  31. I would tend to think that exceptional sinners might be recruited for roles in the military. The likes of cannibal sheep softie are useless against an army of murder angels to be sure, but someone of Alastor or Vox's power level would probably be handy for combat, as would someone like a Roman centurion or some such for tactics and strategy. I agree that the bulk of the forces would probably be made up of imps, especially since they all seem to revel in violence.

  33. Makes sense, although they probably keep the usage of sinners to a minimum, and would mainly use them for distraction.
