  17. Well, this was a complete screw-up. I had hoped that I'd somehow be able to turn things around - reach an accord with the Shadowlord, stop Nier from effectively killing himself, restore humanity to some semblance of what it used to be, and so forth.
  18.
  19. Instead what I got was a non-stop onslaught of Shadows who wouldn't stop trying to either possess me or kill me, who were completely resistant to any sort of dialog despite that I could understand them perfectly fine, all of the gestalts ALSO rejecting me, and the Shadowlord himself actually sitting down and talking to me - and then refusing any and all offers of otherworldly technologies and methods to restore humanity to their bodies. (True Resurrection was out, and even though I could perhaps use Wish a half dozen times a day under ideal circumstances to restore a handful of humans daily, the world was hostile and the few times I tried came out ... wrong. As in "Captain Kirk, you aren't qualified to use that transporter" wrong.) What didn't help was his determination that using my body would act as a stabilizing agent to restoring humanity, once he got his own back.

  21. I tried to talk to Nier himself, and that didn't work out any better, though at least he was less overtly hostile.

  23. Such a horrendous waste. I didn't like seeing the effective death of humanity in this world, but that's what I got.
