  1. It All Started With A Letter:
  2. (A camera clicks on overlooking a desk cluttered with papers, a open bottle of whiskey and a window looking out on the forest and night sky. Obscuring the view is a brown leather chair with its back turned to the camera.)
  3. Connar: Haven't been sleeping very well lately or much at all. I have been having recurring night terrors about what happened at Sobibór. I know to some the idea of being traumatized by something that happened 76 years ago may seem...quaint to put it politely, but before passing judgment consider this. I have been alive for 206 years, from my perspective my failure at Sobibór seems like it was yesterday, and older events still haunt me. I regularly hear my son playing in the living room or my wife working in the kitchen, despite the fact that they both died 171 years ago, time does not heal all wounds it merely turns a excruciating pain into a dull one. (taking a sip of the whiskey) On that note I guess I should tell you why I am recording this, Yuuko has told me repeatedly that talking about one's negative experiences in life helps us deal with them, I think she may be right in this regard...She has said that I can tell her anything and I know she genuinely wants to help me and that she worries about my mental state especially given the state of the world, still I would not burden her with the things that I have seen and done, but rather I would record these things that she may put some distance between herself and I, that she may understand things in a more academic light and that I may spare her any pain these memories may cause, hence these recordings. Rest assured I have not simply decided to record these ramblings to annoy those around me, but rather to reflected on memories that have been troubling me. If only I were still catholic, then I could take care of this at confession.
  4. Before you can fully understand what happened at Sobibór, you have to understand a little of how I got involved in the war. The Dragon became involved in the War after the empire of Japan (at the urging of Nicodemus) purged all known agents of the dragon from the territory they occupied, this resulted in the dragon being driven from almost all of Asia and the pacific rim. I was not involved at this point, the war for independence ended in 1921, and the civil war that followed in 1923, my homeland was free and relatively peaceful and the templar had all been driven north and Nicodemus had been recalled to London. In retrospect I should have followed him back to London and ended the fight then, perhaps then the whole mess could have been avoided. But I had already seen too much senseless death and I didn't want to see anymore. My country men seem to agree with me as the new constitution declared that the republic would be a pacifist state.
  5. My contacts in London and New York told me about Nicodemus and what he had been up to since I forced him and the rest of Third Sunday out of Ireland but I didn't become involved until I got a letter from a nun in Austria sister Viktorine, she wanted me to relocate a pair of twins in her care to a jesuit monastery in switzerland in order to save them from T-4, this mission would ultimately lead me to the Sobibór camp but I am getting ahead of myself. My official involvement started in December of 1938, a few days before christmas, the remnants of the dragon met in Honolulu, at a bar named the 3 clawed dragon. There under the glow of electric christmas lights and over cheap american whisky, we began planing our counter attack, we knew we were in deep shit, but so was everyone else. The question on everyone's mind was not how are we going to stop this but how are we going to keep it from happening again. A few of the brothers from Tabet were watching the “teeth” of the dragon argue about arranging the conditions for certain alliances in the west and the east, some one said, something like “Europe will unite when the atom is split.” He said it facetiously but since was a little drunk I spoke up and said something like, “then Enrico Fermi should be made its president”, everyone looked at me and I babbled something about his work on nuclear chain reactions. The brothers then stared at me in silence for what felt like forever before looking at each other then handing me a letter. It was to be sent to another agent of the Dragon Albert Einstein, when I went to post the letter, the clerk at the post office said that I had a letter, it came from a lab in moscow, from a scientist named Yuri Pikus, he said he read my work on Laplacian causality and was intrigued, I published that paper in 1830, so I knew this man knew who I worked for. He invited me to visit a project the soviets were working on to push back the germans, The Dragon had given me my orders (be it in their usual roundabout way), I was to go to Moscow and see what the Soviets were working on.
  6. Yuuko: Connar, are you still up?
  7. Connar: I think thats enough for tonight, tomorrow I will tell you about my trip to Moscow.
