Synopsis: The most prominent man still investigating the Seth Rich murder has been shot, then run over by a former investigator he employed.
Jack Burkman, aged 46, the DC lobbyist who has offered a $130,000 reward for information on the murder of DNC Data Manager Seth Rich, was shot last week, then run over with an SUV according to Monday’s Washington Post.
Burkman had received a phone call from a man claiming to be a senior FBI official who had information on the Rich murder. The caller said he would leave envelopes containing the information under an orange traffic cone in the parking deck at the Key Bridge Marriott in Rosslyn, VA, directly across the Potomac River from Georgetown University.
When Burkman tried to retrieve the envelopes from under the cone, he was shot multiple times, then run over by an SUV driven by Kevin Doherty, also aged 46, one of Burkman’s former investigators.
Burkman spent 3 days in the hospital. Doherty was charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and two counts of malicious wounding. He is currently jailed in the Arlington County Detention facility.
Burkman had fired Doherty when he had spoken to the press without authorization. Last July, Burkman sent him a cease-and-desist letter.
